I have an eye of truth

#18 - First time on the battlefield

But time didn't allow them much room for idle chatter, because the monsters from the other side were already approaching.

However, the military had prepared quite a few things for them. Everyone had enough bullets and firearms. Some close-combat weapons were also placed in the back for them to choose from, not to mention the city walls and defensive weapons.

As soon as the monsters arrived, the machine gun turrets on both sides roared to life, unleashing a storm of crisscrossing metal. The charging monster horde was instantly torn to shreds.

The monsters, which had been rushing forward madly, instinctively paused, but then recovered.

"It's definitely deliberate. They're absolutely doing this on purpose. How could the defensive firepower be so weak? These low-level monsters shouldn't be able to get through at all." Even if this is the first layer and energy weapons can't be used, the metal storm is still formidable. Letting so many through is insulting our intelligence.

"Stop talking nonsense and attack!" Liu Xiao had already started shooting.

Nearby, sporadic gunshots also rang out. Wang Yang shut his mouth and simply started attacking as well.

What they didn't know was that in the high tower behind them, which only allowed one-way viewing outwards, a group of camp leaders were gathered.

"How many people do you think will qualify this time?" the Colonel asked a person next to him.

The person next to him, judging by his military rank, was a Lieutenant Colonel and also a high-ranking member of the camp.

"Lao He, this is the first experiment, how could I possibly know? But I think about half of them should qualify." This was their test, and they had to select the most qualified people in the most intense way.

The rest, those who couldn't be kept and couldn't adapt to the battlefield for the time being, would be sent back to study and train. What they had to do was, through ordinary training, return to the Layered World in a few years as ordinary people.

Although they could still be of some use at that time, it would be basically impossible for them to be valued.

"It's still a bit too rushed. If we're not careful, we might lose quite a few people. Look at their marksmanship; it's simply a waste of bullets." Marksmanship requires training; it's not something you can just pick up and use.

These guys have only been here for three days. Without someone supervising them, who would tediously fire bullets over and over again to train? Most people's skills haven't improved much.

"That's why we need to give them some pressure; otherwise, how will they work hard? Besides, aren't there some good seedlings? Look at those two; they almost never miss." The Colonel looked in one direction with admiration.

Their performances were all being recorded. Among them, Liu Xiao and Wang Yang performed the best. Every shot accurately hit a target, and sometimes even one bullet killed two or three.

There was no helping it, those monsters were just too densely packed.

Wang Yang's marksmanship was originally better than Liu Xiao's, but his physical fitness wasn't as good. The recoil of the gun wasn't light. He had to pause after each shot, so his attack frequency wasn't as high as Liu Xiao's, and the effect was a little worse.

But if someone looked closely, they would notice that every shot of Liu Xiao's hit the target, but he often hit the torso. On the other hand, every shot of Wang Yang's hit the target's head, each shot being fatal.

"Not good, it's the Red-Beaked Sparrows."

Suddenly, someone looked at the sky. A flock of large red birds flew over; these were flying units.

A commander next to him immediately shouted, "You two with good marksmanship, aim at the targets in the air."

Li Mang curled his lip. "Why don't you guys do it? You're just watching from behind." Of course, he muttered this to himself, not daring to say it out loud. The commanders behind him didn't seem to hear him, as they didn't react at all.

This was originally to train them, how could they possibly do it themselves?

"Ah, we can't hold them back, we can't hold them back at all!" Suddenly, someone cried out in despair and turned to run.

Wang Yang took a moment to glance over and found that the person was not far from them, and he was quite familiar with him. Wasn't this one of Black Wolf's henchmen? Although Wang Yang didn't know his name.

This scream seemed to become a psychological shadow for many people, and many people collapsed and turned to flee.

"Damn bastards, if anyone dares to run, I'll kill him when we get back!" Black Wolf couldn't help but curse as several of his henchmen ran away. Some who had wanted to run hesitated and stayed.

Although they weren't sure if Black Wolf would kill those who ran away, they certainly wouldn't have a good time.

There weren't many people who had awakened abilities and been brought to the Layered World in the first place, and he only had a few of his men left. If a few more ran away, how would he get by in the future?

However, many people noticed that although some people were running away, the legendary law enforcement team didn't appear to enforce military law, so many people gradually became bolder. Some who hadn't been scared out of their wits also quietly retreated, sneaking away.

But what they didn't notice was that their actions were being recorded.

Wang Yang and Liu Xiao didn't have time to think so much at this moment because the Red-Beaked Sparrows in the air had already flown over.

After passing through the firepower net, there were still some fearless birds flying over. If they got close, the danger would be great.

The two of them no longer suppressed the red-skinned monsters on the ground, but aimed their attacks at the air. Now, the difference in the two people's marksmanship was immediately revealed.

Although they were still hitting with every shot, Liu Xiao was attacking the birds' wings and bodies. Many Red-Beaked Sparrows didn't die on the spot after being hit, but fell to the ground, some being killed by the fall, and some still struggling.

But Wang Yang was different. Every shot hit either the head or the neck, resulting in instant death.

Although his attack frequency couldn't compare to Liu Xiao's, the accuracy of his marksmanship was truly terrifying. However, his attack frequency was obviously declining, indicating that he wasn't very adapted to these high-speed flying targets.

"Think about the calculation formula for flying creatures, don't forget that one." Liu Xiao suddenly reminded him from the side.

Wang Yang was stunned. He had just been attacking instinctively. Although the formula couldn't be considered all the time, it had to be integrated into this instinctive attack. "I got it, thanks."

Wang Yang thanked him and then began to recall. At first, his attack frequency was still very low, but it gradually became faster and faster. However, after reaching a certain level, limited by his physical fitness, there was still no way to increase it indefinitely.

With two guys who were almost sharpshooters sniping the Red-Beaked Sparrows, these flying creatures miraculously didn't pose any threat to them. But even more miraculously, these flying monsters that didn't pose a threat caused many people to collapse and run away.

Even the military leaders behind them were marveling at this performance.
