I have an eye of truth

#213 - The real minefield

Li Shuang, spurred by the challenge, proved his mettle, relentlessly climbing upwards with remarkable speed.

While others typically needed two to three days, or even longer, to ascend this snow mountain, and even Su Xiaoke and Su Xiaoyu, pushing their limits, required a full day and night, Li Shuang stubbornly conquered it in half a day.

From dawn until now, a mere half-day had passed, and he had already reached the summit by noon.

As for the Thunder Pool refinement, it wasn't a lengthy process, reportedly lasting only about ten minutes.

Descending the mountain was quicker, as one could simply take the dedicated cable car, as Su Xiaoyu and the others had done previously, which didn't take long.

This also provided convenience for others, allowing them to quickly descend and rest after a long period of exhaustion.

"Haha, I made it! I made it! I'm faster than anyone!" Li Shuang finally realized he had reached the top.

Initially, they assumed it was a woman, but Li Shuang's voice revealed otherwise, surprising everyone with its distinctly masculine tone.

Two people approached, and Li Shuang regained his energy. Even though the power of thunder and ice was at its peak in this location, the mental pressure had dissipated since he had conquered the summit.

"Hello, I'd like to undergo the refinement."

As soon as Li Shuang finished speaking, a staff member replied, "No need to go in. Just like us, sit here and wait."

"Why?" He had finally made it up here; how could they not let him in?

The staff member pointed to the sky and said, "Do you see those thunderclouds? The Thunder Pool will become extremely dangerous. You're lucky to have encountered this rare Thunder Pool spectacle, which might only occur once a decade."

"Does this spectacle have any special benefits?" someone asked.

"It's very beneficial, extremely effective. This Thunder Pool spectacle is rare, and encountering it is lucky. Unfortunately, it only lasts for five minutes, leaving no time for other preparations. The advantage is that you can receive refinement without entering the Thunder Pool, and the effect is even better. The disadvantage is that it's almost impossible to gain abilities this way, but it can still help those at the official level."

This sudden encounter, lasting only five minutes, was incredibly fortunate.

By the time they had confirmed the situation, there wasn't enough time to notify others. Even the staff members at the foot of the mountain couldn't reach the summit in time, so it was all a matter of luck.

The effective range was limited to the area around the Thunder Pool's edge; other locations wouldn't work.

"Each time the Thunder Pool spectacle occurs, it replenishes the power consumed by the Snow Mountain Thunder Pool. The dissipated lightning also clears the surrounding insects and replenishes the lightning power in the air, keeping this place clean."

So that's how it is, Wang Yang understood.

"Quick, it's coming!" The staff member directed others while also rushing to the side to prepare for the Thunder Pool spectacle.

Those currently immersed in the Thunder Pool had already received the message to come out, as staying inside would be too dangerous.

Ahead, the Heavenly Pool was incredibly bright, reflecting the sunlight like a mirror, resembling a sapphire. Occasionally, blue electric arcs flashed across it—this was the Snow Mountain Thunder Pool.

In the sky, a dark cloud had begun to form, and now it had become a vast, oppressive mass, gathering directly above the mountain peak. Wang Yang, already possessing thunder power, could feel the concentration of lightning in the air.

Through the special force field here, immense lightning power rapidly condensed, and that cloud was not a rain cloud but a substantial form of condensed lightning.

Suddenly, the lightning power, having reached its limit, erupted. A bolt of lightning struck down, landing heavily in the Thunder Pool. However, the Thunder Pool didn't explode and scatter water but instantly absorbed the lightning.

If Wang Yang hadn't sensed the lightning's immense power, he would have thought it was a fabricated illusion.

In an instant, the vast lightning merged into the Thunder Pool, as if recharging it. The original blue pond became even more vibrant, the blue brighter, and a special power seemed to be brewing within.

Then, another bolt of lightning struck, and lightning continued to fall one after another. Terrifying lightning power continuously descended, forming a rare thunderstorm spectacle.

The Thunder Pool, already at its brightest, resembled a blue light bulb, forming a massive beam of light that reflected into the sky, appearing like a sharp sword ready to cut through the thunderclouds.

Around the Thunder Pool, lightning also began to spread wildly, densely packed.

Even if he were to go down now, with the lightning power contained within the Thunder Pool, it would probably be more dangerous than beneficial.

No wonder those who had reached the initial level dared not enter; this was the true Thunder Pool, an incredibly dangerous place. Without advanced strength, it was impossible to dare enter this place.

Suddenly, Wang Yang noticed another change: the surrounding terrain seemed somewhat strange.

The lightning continuously poured into it and was then dispersed by the terrain, transforming into a special power that began to radiate outwards. Those present bore the brunt of it.

Even Wang Yang felt a tingling sensation all over his body. "Strange, the Battle Qi Armor is useless."

Wang Yang discovered that the quality of this lightning power was much higher than he had imagined, directly penetrating his Battle Qi Armor. His Battle Qi provided no defense, allowing the power to enter freely.

Then, his body seemed to transform into a vortex, actively absorbing the surrounding power. This lightning power was absorbed into his body, constantly tempering his Battle Qi and spirit, and even causing some changes in his body.

As for what exactly those changes were, Wang Yang had no idea, and he didn't develop any abilities.

Wang Yang didn't feel any stronger, but he had a strange feeling that he was becoming stronger.

He didn't know what was going on; he should ask others about it later. Looking around, he saw that everyone else was passively accepting the lightning tempering, each with their eyes closed and a somewhat pained expression.

Fortunately, no one noticed his differences.

He was the only one on the entire mountain actively absorbing lightning power, which was truly strange. He didn't know if this was his unique trait or because of the Eye of Truth; Wang Yang couldn't sense it himself.

He couldn't even control it. At this point, he had lost sensation in everything but his head and was completely unable to control his body.

Wang Yang turned his head and saw that the radiated lightning was gradually spreading, becoming increasingly thinner but covering a larger area. Wherever this lightning passed, the air became clearer.
