#277 - Guardian Armor and Light
Wang Yang focused his battle aura into his finger, transforming the golden-red energy into a blade. He then pressed it against his magical armor, gradually increasing the pressure.
Simultaneously, he channeled more and more battle aura, until the armor began to buckle under the strain.
The magic within the armor started to flow, converging towards the point of attack in an attempt to repair the damage.
Finally, with immense force, the protective armor shattered. Instantly, the entire barrier exploded, generating a powerful rebound force that tried to push his finger away.
This burst of energy could negate attacks that would otherwise be irresistible, rendering them ineffective.
This was similar to the original Light of Protection, but even more potent.
Wang Yang then cast another Protective Armor and repeated the experiment. This time, instead of gradually increasing the force, he instantly amplified it to its maximum, shattering the armor directly.
"The effect is similar, only the consumption rate differs. Magic truly lives up to its name."
Wang Yang nodded slightly. Although the Protective Armor's power couldn't yet match his own battle aura armor, its effects were still formidable. Crucially, this spell was newly formed and hadn't been strengthened yet.
Once he maximized its enhancements, the spell's defensive capabilities would far surpass his battle aura armor.
Even his passive skill, Battle Aura Armor, might not compare to it in terms of defense.
This was the difference between magic and martial techniques. While magic wasn't as freely usable as battle aura, being limited to specific spell effects, its individual power far exceeded that of ordinary martial techniques.
The effects of spells of the same level far surpassed those of martial techniques.
However, this didn't mean that martial techniques were weak. Magic was more like a burst, a one-time use. Regardless of the spell, it was cast in its completed form. Battle aura, on the other hand, was much more flexible, with the amount used being variable.
Furthermore, it offered greater sustainability and adaptability, but lacked special effects.
Therefore, in a battle between a mage and a martial artist, it was difficult to say who would win. It all depended on their performance.
Sensing the remaining energy within the Eye of Truth, which was still considerable, he decided to continue enhancing his abilities. He still had two spells left: Light and Dreamlight.
Light was a simple cantrip used as a light source.
Of course, being a spell, it was much more convenient than candles or torches.
However, it was troublesome to use because it required a continuous stream of magical power to maintain. Using Light made it difficult to cast other spells.
This problem had always been a nuisance, but he hadn't had time to solve it before. Now, things were different.
The enhancement direction was straightforward. Wang Yang didn't consider other options and focused on solidifying the spell.
With a combination of extensive knowledge, a new spell gradually took shape. "I'll still call it Light," Wang Yang decided, even though the two spells were no longer the same.
The old spell would remain as basic knowledge, as he didn't plan to use it again.
As the new spell formed, Wang Yang raised his right hand towards the sky. A spark of light gradually materialized, resembling a firefly. The firefly grew brighter and brighter, eventually transforming into a light bulb, radiating a soft glow.
The light illuminated the surroundings, dispelling the darkness.
The shadow assassins hidden nearby once again felt discomfort, but it was merely discomfort. There was no other unpleasantness, as the level difference was significant.
Although it had been enhanced, the spell was still a cantrip.
Besides illumination, it had no other uses. However, it had two advantages. First, the light intensity could be adjusted. At its brightest, it could even be used as a flashbang.
However, it would only work on ordinary people. For even novice warriors, the flash wouldn't cause any eye damage.
The second advantage was its solidification effect. The spell could remain fixed until the magical power was completely exhausted. After injecting a certain amount of magic, it didn't need to be maintained continuously, as the magic array would continuously and stably release the power.
The direction of flight could also be controlled with simple commands.
If no command was given, the light would remain above his head, following him wherever he went. If he wished, he could also lock it in another location.
With this, he wouldn't need to use other lighting equipment when entering caves or similar places in the future.
Better than nothing, Wang Yang thought to himself as he turned off the light bulb.
As for the last spell, Dreamlight, Wang Yang didn't have enough energy to modify it. Furthermore, he didn't understand the spell very well, so he didn't have a direction for modification yet.
Besides enhancing its effects, he couldn't think of anything else for the time being.
So, enhance its effects then. After some consideration, Wang Yang poured all the remaining energy from the Eye of Truth into the spell in one go, using it to enhance its effects.
He believed that once the spell was enhanced to its limit, even novice warriors would lose control for a significant amount of time if they were hit by it. This time would be enough for him to kill them several times over.
With all the energy exhausted, Wang Yang lost the motivation to continue.
"Sleep, sleep. We have to continue tomorrow."
Clearing the deep mountains wasn't something that could be done in a day or two. Even for Wang Yang, it would probably take nearly a month to thoroughly explore such a vast area.
It would be good as training. Moreover, during this time, Wang Yang would also try to refine his magic and battle aura to see if he could break through his current level and reach the advanced stage.
Once he could accomplish that, he would definitely be a strong contender in the twentieth layer. Then, he could continue to venture deeper. Those places were the real battlefields.
Lying on a branch, Wang Yang quickly fell into a deep sleep. Anyway, with the shadow assassins around, there was no need to worry.
The next day, Wang Yang woke up to see his communicator flashing. Upon opening it, he found that the crystal points had been deposited. "They all came at once, but it's a pity I can't use them for now."
It turned out that his share of the earnings from the previous night had been sent to him. At the same time, the Flame City's earnings from the previous month had also been sent, instantly turning Wang Yang into a wealthy man.
