I Honor

Chapter 005

Foundation Building in Hundred Days

A clear stream flowed out of the forest, circled around before Meng Qi’s eyes, and then flowed down towards the foot of the mountain.

Surrounded by green trees nearby, the mist filled the mountains and forests, and the air was extremely fresh, which made Meng Qi feel refreshed physically and mentally.

Before dawn, the morning bell rang, waking Meng Qi up. After learning the little Sanskrit mantra in the morning class, he and Zhenhui were arranged by Xuanxin to carry water here., there are Zhenying, Zhenguan and others around, as well as the monks of the Wushu Temple who used water for tempering.

Looking at the stream, Meng Qi inadvertently saw his current appearance from the slowly flowing water.

This is a child with eyes like ink, eyebrows like distant mountains, and carved in powder and jade. He is about twelve or thirteen years old, only a little older than Zhenhui.

“You look really good, and you used to look like you were pampered.” Meng Qi praised himself, but then lamented, what’s the use of this for a monk, I must return to vulgarity

He sank the wooden barrel to the bottom of the water, intending to test his own strength. At the same time, he told Zhenhui beside him: “Junior brother, you only need to pick half of it. Don’t be brave.”

“Yeah.” Zhenhui looked at the fish swimming in the stream and licked her lips.

Just when Meng Qi was about to lift the wooden barrel, he suddenly felt someone watching him, so he turned his head and followed his gaze, and happened to see a group of fairly familiar monks who were shaved by Xuanku together with him Among the little novice monks, among them, Meng Qi could not remember many names, but only one of them saw his true virtue.

Zhende’s eyebrows were quite messy, and his cheeks were long and thin. When he saw Meng Qi looking back, he raised his head slightly, seeming a little arrogant and complacent.

Seeing this, the other little novice monks around him turned from bitter faces to happy ones. It seemed that after seeing their “companions” living worse than themselves, the hardships of life in the monastery vanished.

Yes, we entered the monastery, and Zhending and Zhenhui can only be handy monks. This is something to be happy and proud of.

Zhende opened his mouth, as if he wanted to say something, but after glancing at the precept monk next to him, he still closed his mouth, and lifted the wooden barrel out of the stream, two full barrels.

Meng Qi twitched his lips, and decided not to be as knowledgeable as a child. One day, he would enter the monk’s academy and learn the unique skills of Shaolin

He got rid of the messy thoughts and lifted the two wooden barrels vigorously.

As soon as the wooden barrel left the water, Meng Qi was startled, how could it be so light?

He felt that he didn’t use much strength, and the wooden barrel was lifted up.

“Is it heavy?” Meng Qi asked Zhenhui suspiciously.

Zhenhui walked over obediently, and lifted the two full buckets of water in front of Mengqi, with bulging veins and contorted face, then nodded: “Heavy.”

“It’s not about the water.” Meng Qi took a deep breath and thought to himself, “Could it be that this body is born with a lot of strength? Well, look at the skin, clothes, accessories, and the Marquis that the horse-faced uncle said. I’m afraid this body He came from a noble family, he may have practiced martial arts before, he has laid a good foundation, and his strength is much stronger than that of ordinary children.”

No matter what the reason was, Meng Qi was no longer afraid of carrying water. He bent down, picked up two buckets of water, and followed the team of monks in front of him to climb the mountain on the stone steps.

The team quickly stretched and separated, and the monks who had been tempered for many years could walk like flying with iron buckets and water, and soon disappeared into the mountains and forests.

In order not to attract attention, Meng Qi dragged Zhenhui and other monks to the end, and Zhende and other new monks from the Wu Monastery had not made any progress because they had just entered the monastery for a day, so they were the same.

Sensing the gazes of Meng Qi and others, Zhende and other young novice monks from the Wu Monastery turned red in their faces, lowered their waists one after another, took a good posture, and strode forward, not wanting to be with this group of handyman monks.

Seeing their speed increase, Meng Qi’s heart moved, and he imitated them to lower his waist and put on a good posture. Suddenly, he felt that the wooden barrel filled with water became lighter.

“This posture is very simple.” Meng Qi fumbled for the technique of exerting force more easily, and his pace gradually accelerated, unknowingly throwing away Zhenhui and surpassing Zhende.

“Hmph, you have to be steady at the beginning, or you won’t be able to move forward,” Zhende said angrily behind Meng Qi’s back.

Meng Qi let out a hey, and felt that he had to change to a big wooden barrel tomorrow, otherwise there would be no effect of exercising.

But the mountain road was difficult, and it was going up again. Meng Qi was still sweating and out of breath when he arrived.

“Pay attention to controlling your breathing.” Suddenly, a serious voice sounded in his ear,

Meng Qi looked sideways, only to find that the patrol monk stood next to him at some point, demonstrating the rhythm of his breathing. He was surprised and delighted, and learned to adjust his breathing, and soon he was no longer exhausted. phenomenon, all the way back to the temple

“Tomorrow, change to a big bucket to carry water.” The precept monk ordered, and then went down to meet other young monks.

The corner of Meng Qi’s mouth twitched. Although he also had this thought in his heart, he was still quite worried about not having enough strength.

After a while, Zhenhui Zhende and other young novice monks also carried the water up the mountain, and saw Meng Qi, who was calm and composed, breathing the “morning light” there.

“It’s just, but it’s just strength.” Zhende gasped and muttered, like other monks, he felt ashamed in front of Zhending who was clearly inferior to himself and others

Then, they didn’t stop, and left in a hurry.

“Junior brother, take your time, are you okay?” Meng Qi didn’t pay attention to them at all, and asked Zhenhui who was panting.

Zhenhui nodded: “very, very good, early, breakfast”

After eating too early, the sky is just getting bright, and the east is red.

But Meng Qi didn’t feel sore and limp after hard work, instead he became more awake and refreshed.

“This body isIt’s pretty good.” Meng Qi looked at all the tired monks in the dining hall, and felt a sense of joy, no matter what, a good body was his future support.

“The newcomer will go to the lecture hall with me.” Xuan Xin was holding a chicken leg and stood at the door of the Zhaitang with a smile on his face. The group of brats have a face, come back at night, the uncle has a reward for you.”

“Reward” Meng Qi was overjoyed, although he disliked Xuanxin a bit, but who doesn’t love rewards?

Before Xuanxin could answer, Zhenhui said dumbly: “Uncle Xuanxin, you are not allowed to eat meat after enlightenment, you have violated the precepts.”

Meng Qi’s head buzzed for a moment, and he wanted to turn around and cover Zhenhui’s mouth but was a little too late.

Sure enough, Xuan Xin’s smile froze on her face.

The corner of his mouth twitched, and he said with a fake smile: “Uncle, I never violate the precepts.”

After finishing speaking, he never mentioned the reward again, and walked out of the altar with an ugly face.

It wasn’t until this time that low laughter sounded in the dining hall.

Zhenhui looked at Meng Qi not quite understanding: “Brother, what are they laughing at?”

Laughing at you for being too stupid, Meng Qi answered inwardly.

But Zhenhui didn’t care about this issue, so he immediately shifted his attention: “Brother, why did Master Xuanxin say that he didn’t violate the precepts, but he was obviously eating chicken legs?”

“Because he hasn’t reached the state of enlightenment yet,” Meng Qi replied in an ethereal voice, feeling that it is necessary to explain the principles of life to Zhenhui, lest he always be stupid and offend others, and thus implicate himself.

“Oh, Master Xuanxin hasn’t enlightened yet.” Zhenhui suddenly realized, with a happy expression on his face, as if he had solved some crucial secret.

Seeing that Xuanxin outside did not stop, Meng Qi didn’t care to tell Zhenhui about the world and people’s understanding, so he beckoned him to follow.

All the way around the large and small Buddha halls, Meng Qi only heard the sound of chanting sutras.

“Evening drums and morning bells wake up famous and wealthy people in the world; the sound of the Buddha’s chant brings back the enchanting dreams of the sea of bitterness.” For some reason, Meng Qi thought of this couplet. The situation and scene are too appropriate.

“Hey, nephew Zhending, you have also heard the couplet at the gate of Shuiyue Temple” Xuan Xin asked with a smile.

Meng Qi bristled, pretending to be calm and authentic: “I heard from my father.”

It can only be pushed to the inexplicable Lord Hou.

Xuan Xin was not surprised, and said in a sighing tone: “Uncle, I have been to Shuiyue Nunnery before, and I have seen the couplet at the door, so I was deeply impressed. I hoped to attain the golden body of Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva, but unfortunately I failed to sit down.”

“The golden body of the Great Merciful and Greatly Compassionate Guanzi Bodhisattva,” Meng Qi said in astonishment, feeling inexplicably hot in his heart.

Xuanxin put away his sighs, and said with a chuckle: “The foundation of Shuiyuean’s sect is the Heart Sutra of Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva. If it becomes a true fruit, you can get the golden body of Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva, which is one of the great Bodhisattvas and Arhats. It is higher than the golden body of ordinary Bodhisattvas and Arhats, and only inferior to the golden body of Tathagata, Amitabha and Bodhi, tsk, but since ancient times, Shuiyue nunnery has only been certified by the master of Kaipai nunnery.”

“Is that so?” Meng Qi felt that his face was burning hot and his heart was beating wildly. There were actually golden bodies of Bodhisattvas and Buddhas in this world. It was exciting and fascinating.

At this time, after everyone stepped into the “Lecture Hall”, Xuan Xin restrained her playful smile, stopped talking, and led Meng Qi and others into a side hall in a serious manner.

“Senior Brother Xuan En, this is the new novice monk from the Miscellaneous Workyard.” After Xuan Xin whispered the Buddha’s name, he pointed to Meng Qi and the others.

Sitting high in front of the chanting hall is a skinny old monk with snow-white eyebrows, also wearing a yellow monk’s robe, with books and wooden fish in front of him, and a ruler in his hand.

“Sit down separately.” He pointed to the half-empty futons below, and there was a small table in front of each futon.

Meng Qi, Zhenhui and the others dared not speak, found their seats and sat down on their knees. After waiting for another half a quarter of an hour, the young monks arrived one after another, including Zhende and other “companions” who entered the temple together.

They looked at Meng Qi and the others in amazement, obviously they did not expect that the servant monks could also study in the seminary.

Xuan En knocked on the wooden fish in front of him, calming down all the little monks, and then said in a neutral voice: “In the next three years, as long as you don’t violate the temple rules, you can come here to read and write at this time every day, except In addition to ordinary writing, you have to learn Sanskrit in order to study ancient scriptures.”

He paused and said, “But before I teach you characters today, I have to guide you into martial arts.”

Hearing what he said, Meng Qi was refreshed, his back straightened subconsciously, and the handyman monk could also be guided

Such doubts also made Zhende and the others widen their eyes. What is the difference between the Handyman’s Academy and the Monk Academy?

“Whether it’s Taoist Jinggong or secular techniques, the first step on the road of martial arts practice is similar but slightly different. It is for the initial opening of the energy channels, strengthening the spirit and strengthening the body.” Xuanen ignored the doubts of Zhende and others, Said self-servingly.

Meng Qi listened intently, for fear of missing a word.

“This step is called a hundred days of foundation building in Taoism, which means laying the foundation for martial arts practice. The so-called hundred days, in normal terms, within a hundred days, Ren Du and other meridians will open automatically, My Buddhist school calls it self-cultivation in concentration, because only when the mind is calm and calm, without dispersing or chaotic, can the true energy be naturally transformed, fill the acupoints, and open the air channels, which is commonly known as opening the channels. ”

Xuan En roughly introduced the main points of “Cultivating the Body in Concentration” for a hundred days of foundation building: “There are 365 great orifices in the human body. Every time a breath of true energy is generated, it must be filled into the orifices, and each of the great orifices It takes nine breaths of true energy to be sufficient.”

“Every quarter of an hour in meditation, only a breath of true energy can be transformed. Therefore, according to the daily practice time of each person, this step can be completed in roughly a hundred days to a year.”

“When entering concentration, the six sense organs are pure, without delusions or eagerness. After a quarter of an hour, there will be true energy transformed. Half of it will go up from the Du channel to the Baihui point on the top of the head, and then go down to the upper jaw to form a mouthful of golden fluid. The other half will come from the The Ren meridian goes up, reaches the lower jaw, and turns into a mouthful of jade liquid.”

“When Jinjin Yuye meets, it will merge into a mouthful of clear and sweet saliva, which is called nectar in my Buddhism, and then swallow the nectar and fill it into the corresponding orifice.”

Xuan En repeated the main points several times and then said: “When the meditation is completed, the energy and spirit will be full, the energy channels will be opened, and the body will be strong. Only in this way can we enter the next step of meditation and accumulate energy. Our Buddhism is also called Changyang. holy fetus.”

After speaking, he asked all the young novice monks to try to enter meditation.

This is not meditation, it only requires calmness of mind, and it is not difficult. For children with few thoughts, it is relatively simple.

But as an adult, Meng Qi had a lot of miscellaneous thoughts, and he couldn’t calm down for a long time. This made him extremely impatient, but the more impatient, the more unable to settle down.

When he was so anxious that he was sweating profusely, he suddenly felt a cool feeling in his chest, and his mind was cleared.

“That little Jade Buddha…” Meng Qi was overjoyed, he didn’t think about it too much, and slowly calmed down his mind, and entered into a samadhi. :
