I, the wizard, the foolish Buddha
#51 - Prince of Wind
The Archmage didn't care about Wallace's conversation with the nobles.
He casually instructed, "These two cultists must be related to this evil altar. You can take this opportunity to practice the swordsmanship I taught you, but keep them alive. My lab is running short on living test subjects lately."
After saying that, the Archmage led the noblewomen away.
A knight rode off to gather soldiers and hunters.
Seeing Wallace's confidence, Roland felt relieved and began to observe the people.
First, it seemed the wizard hadn't taught his students anything proper, or perhaps he lacked real skill.
Second, these people indiscriminately treated others as dark wizards and evil demons. However, they seemed to have never dealt with real evil; they only killed the old, weak, women, children, and outsiders.
Judging from their conversation, they often used the guise of 'eliminating evil' to commit misdeeds.
Looking at the hunters, cooks, private soldiers, and servants, about half of them were excited, as if they often followed the nobles to eliminate evil. They didn't get any benefits, but they were happy to be accomplices.
Roland then looked at the laborers working near the distant Stonehenge.
Most of these laborers didn't have shoes and seemed to be temporary conscripts. They were sallow-faced and numb. They turned a blind eye to what was happening, seemingly accustomed to the lords' evil deeds.
'The wizards in this world are truly unscrupulous. That Archmage is like the ruler here.'
Regaining his thoughts, Roland looked at the wizard who had walked away.
He mistook Wallace for a human and the teleportation magic circle for an evil altar, clearly not a skilled wizard.
However, the magical aura on his body was undoubtedly that of a high-level apprentice. Although his magic power wasn't as high as Wallace's, they were on the same level.
At this moment, the enemies surrounded them.
Roland's expression became slightly serious.
The two nobles both had the strength of low-level knights, and the two knights were mid-level knights.
Most importantly, the armor on these people was very good, seemingly not made of ordinary iron, and they had apprentice-level enchantments.
Chain Lightning wouldn't be effective against full-body armor, so he would probably have to fight in close combat.
In addition, the hundred or so soldiers and hunters all had crossbows and longbows. There were also dozens of fierce dogs in the group. This team was somewhat tricky.
Roland believed Wallace could deal with the high-level apprentice.
But himself... the magic stone on his lantern was almost depleted and couldn't withstand the volley of so many bows and crossbows.
So, if those four knight-level guys managed to distract him, he would be exhausted to death by these hundred or so people.
If a real fight broke out, the four knights would definitely die, but he probably wouldn't survive either.
'Wallace, this guy has really stirred up a big trouble. I can't fight these people head-on. Wallace, my friend, my strength is limited. If things get bad, I'll have to slip away.'
Just as Roland was pondering, Wallace suddenly smiled at the group, and chanted a hellish incantation in a sinister demonic language. Then, the four knights/nobles who had just surrounded them suddenly clutched their abdomens and rolled on the ground in pain.
Then, pairs of bony hands emerged from their chests and abdomens. The bony hands tore open their ribs and armor, and pulled out their hearts.
Wallace reached out and hooked his fingers at the distant hearts, and the four hearts flew up one after another and fell into his deep hood.
"Excellent blood food, excellent sacrifices (chewing sounds)."
Wallace's scarlet eyes (flames) in his hood flickered, and he scanned the crowd with a ferocious gaze, like observing lambs to be slaughtered: "What a feast, heh heh heh."
With a shriek, the noblewomen's sharp screams broke the silence.
Many private soldiers and hunters woke up as if from a dream, scattering and fleeing like stray dogs encountering a lion!
— "Evil demon!!! It's an evil demon!!!"
In the panic, some private soldiers fired the arrows from their crossbows in their hands randomly. Some arrows passed through Wallace's empty body, but most of the arrows hit their companions.
Roland dodged a stray arrow. He looked at this chaotic rabble and was greatly surprised.
Roland originally thought that the knights, private soldiers, and hunters were a big trouble, but he was looking at the problem from the perspective of a swordsman.
If Wallace had just displayed some superb swordsmanship, then these ignorant guys would definitely not have reacted like this.
But Wallace was a wizard, a mysterious evil demon. So, the more ignorant these people were, the more deterrent the evil demon's magic was.
So, after Wallace revealed his identity and killed a few leaders, the will of the remaining people was defeated by the 'unknown'.
Wallace began the massacre. He waved his arms at the fleeing soldiers and chanted a spell in the demonic language. Then, some people in the crowd were ignited like torches.
This was the fire of hell, and in the blink of an eye, it burned those few people to ashes.
For a short while, ashes danced in the wind, and whatever the ashes landed on would be burned to ashes like ignited straw.
In just a short while, twenty or thirty people had died!
Roland was shocked: 'This is the power of a high-level apprentice?! After advancing, this guy's strength is definitely no less than that of the abyss demon (small) in the palace!'
More and more ashes flew, and the fire spread wider and wider, threatening to ignite the entire forest!
At this moment, a gust of wind suddenly blew, and the ashes in the sky were tornadoed into the sky. The fire spreading among the crowd lost its source and gradually disappeared.
The person who took action was actually the wild wizard who taught his students swordsmanship.
This person was not unskilled, but very skilled!
He had just sent people over to test them, and he had deliberately stayed away from the battlefield to avoid getting involved in the battle.
Now that Wallace had consumed a lot of magic power on the rabble, and he had a preliminary understanding of Wallace's moves, he decisively took action.
"Evil spirit! Your death is at hand!"
Amidst the dancing wind, the Archmage held a long sword in one hand and a staff in the other. His white beard danced in the wind, and he chanted spells.
Vaguely, Roland suddenly felt that the tornado in the sky faintly revealed surging magic power.
The whirlwind gradually transformed into a shape in the Archmage's spell, it seemed that the Archmage was summoning a very remarkable elemental creature!
— "Ancient Prince of the Wind! Following the ancient covenant, listen to my call!"
In the blink of an eye, the tornado as huge as a building transformed into a wind giant with a human upper body and a tornado lower body!
Looking closely, there was even a crown of wind on its head!
It stood between the Archmage and Wallace, protecting the Archmage and the crowd behind him with its body. To defeat the Archmage with magic, you must first defeat it!
Roland was dumbfounded when he looked at the towering wind giant in front of him.
"This is a high-level apprentice?! Is this something a wizard apprentice can do?!"
This Archmage's titles are indeed exaggerated and sound like lies, but some of the titles are genuine.
But why does Wallace still call him a wild wizard?
The so-called wild wizard or wild mage refers to three types of people.
The first type is those wizards who have been expelled from the school.
The second type is those wizards who practice with a single wizard and have not joined any school.
The third type is wizards who accidentally obtained some wizard's inheritance and cultivated themselves in the secular world.
In short, a wild wizard is a rogue cultivator.
If Roland were to be expelled from his school one day, he would also be called a wild wizard.
Roland believed that this rogue cultivator was very powerful.
He could create a small sect with just this one wind magic technique. Vice President, it seems he did establish a sect in the secular world (Radiant Magic Guild).
"Hmph, mere show."
Wallace snorted coldly and said, "Roland, you haven't been in contact with real wizards and have seen too little. Watch carefully how I deal with this thing. In the future, when you walk outside, don't be fooled by these small school things."
