I, the wizard, the foolish Buddha
#7 - Weird fruit
Apparently, the mentor's mental strength is very powerful, able to spy on the situation inside the cabin even from an hour away.
If it were before, Roland would definitely not have been able to detect the mentor's prying, but after gaining the strength of a high-level swordsman, the sharpness of his perception is now vastly different from before.
'Mr. Troll seems very friendly, but he is definitely not like this when he goes crazy.'
'I must advance tonight, and then leave.'
Roland did not immediately water the magic herb; escaping tonight would require a lot of physical strength. So he ate his dinner carefully.
The sheep was very large, but Roland's appetite had increased a lot. He ate a lot of mutton and cut off half of the roasted whole sheep, preparing it as dry food for his escape tonight.
After doing all this, Roland returned to the house and checked the herb: "The mentor didn't replace this herb? It seems she doesn't believe a mermaid can grow out of the grass, haha. Indeed, how could a mermaid grow out of grass? But, it can be ripened after being watered with wine."
He took the herb outside and threw it away. After a while, he brought a new mermaid herb into the house.
After preparing everything, Roland picked up the wine glass filled with wine, ready to water the herb at any time.
Then, Roland closed his eyes and pondered for a moment. Immediately afterward, without even chanting a spell, he opened his eyes and looked at the Holy Grail in his hand.
[You have cast 'Forbidden . Elementary Transformation']
[You have consumed all of your current magic value.]
Just as Catherine said, Roland's comprehension of magic spells is very amazing. He didn't chant any spells; he completed the spell's release with just a glance.
However, the appearance of the wine glass did not change in any way. But Roland did not hesitate at all and poured the wine from the wine glass directly onto the magic herb.
When the last few drops of wine fell on the herb, exactly one second had just passed.
After doing all this, Roland slumped back in the chair, his face pale.
He thought to himself: 'I should have failed. Otherwise, the wine glass wouldn't have changed at all.'
Just now, he didn't hesitate because he had to firmly believe that he could succeed, so he resolutely completed the watering work according to the plan. During the whole process, there was not a trace of distracting thoughts in his mind. But now that the matter was over, Roland's mind naturally began to be in chaos.
He closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and tried to calm down his emotions.
"Don't think too much, humans propose, gods dispose."
"I have tried my best. No matter what the result is, I must accept it calmly," Roland tried to comfort himself, although there was still some uneasiness in his heart.
"If I can't advance tonight, the worst that can happen is death. There's nothing to be afraid of."
This thought made Roland relax a little.
After his spirit was no longer so tense, Roland suddenly felt the side effects of magic overdraft. He saw stars in front of his eyes and felt dizzy. He lay on the table for a while before recovering.
Roland thought to himself: 'The side effects of magic overdraft are really too great.'
In fact, a normal apprentice mage might have to sleep for two or three days after a magic overdraft. But Roland's body was exceptionally strong, and his willpower was also very high, so he only felt dizzy for a while before he recovered.
At this time, the Manhatos grass in front of him still showed no signs of flowering and bearing fruit. Roland thought to himself: 'Logically speaking, it should flower and bear fruit soon... Could it be that I really failed?'
He rubbed his haggard face and decided to wait a little longer. To distract himself and avoid overthinking, Roland opened a book on magic herbs and began to study the mermaid fruit.
In the book, the record about the mermaid fruit is written like this:
[— Mermaid Fruit, nut type, many people think that the appearance of these nuts is very similar to mermaids. But this is completely nonsense. The normal appearance of a mermaid fruit is as follows: (a drawing that looks a bit like a sunflower seed)]
Judging from that picture, the mermaid fruit does look more like a nut than a mermaid.
Further down is a note:
[Compared to a mermaid, the appearance of the fruit is obviously more like a sunflower seed.]
[Of course, if those black-hearted merchants who sell the fruit carve the fruit into the shape of a mermaid and fabricate stories such as 'The real mermaid fruit can sing,' the price will triple.]
Roland had studied the knowledge about mermaid fruit many times before this.
Of course, he knew that the fruit looked like a sunflower seed, not a mermaid.
He also certainly knew that the mermaid fruit would not sing like a mermaid.
So, if...
Just then, Roland heard a beautiful song coming from the potted herb.
He suddenly raised his head and found that the Manhatos grass was growing at a speed visible to the naked eye and blooming with strange flowers.
The flowers bloomed and withered in an instant, and in an instant, they gave birth to mermaid fruits that could sing.
Roland's eyes widened: "How can mermaids grow out of grass?!"
A beautiful mermaid, the size of a thumb, slowly opened her eyes. She looked at Roland and said, "Silly. Silly Roland, Roland is a big fool."
Looking at the lively mermaid that grew out of the grass in front of him, Roland felt that his whole person was not well.
Outside the window, a sneaky figure was secretly watching the movement inside the window.
This figure is graceful, has no huge teeth in her mouth, and is as beautiful as an ancient elf.
But her delicate face was destroyed by many cysts—she seemed to be sick.
In addition, she is unusually tall, more than three meters tall!
In her mouth, she was holding a fat and huge leg of lamb—that leg of lamb was not much smaller than a human leg, but it was held in the cherry mouth of this beautiful lady.
When she watched with her own eyes that seven or eight mermaids grew out of that 'grass', this giant lady opened her mouth wide, and the leg of lamb in her mouth fell to the ground.
She couldn't figure out how mermaids could grow out of the grass.
After thinking hard for a moment, she made a decision—never mind, continue eating!
Roland obviously did not have hallucinations, because Miss Anna also saw the mermaids growing out of the herbs.
Miss Anna is very simple. She didn't care what grew out of the herbs, but left the window, climbed to a huge silver fir tree in the distance, and continued to eat her roasted whole sheep.
Crunch, crunch, the sheep bones were crushed by this beautiful lady like biscuits.
Roland's cooking skills are much better than Catherine's. Anna likes it very much. But because Roland cut away half of the sheep, there was too little meat left for Anna.
After finishing her meal, Anna should climb to a huge silver fir tree near the cabin and continue sleeping, but she will definitely wake up hungry in the middle of the night.
In a state of hunger, Anna is irrational.
