In mid-January 1993, the "VCD Industry Development Seminar" was held in Kunming. Hundreds of units across the country gathered here to discuss how to make this new product bigger and stronger.

"Why does this big project fall in Yunnan? Our Guizhou is also very poor."

"We Guangxi is close to the sea, and the geographical conditions are not worse than that of Guangdong. Why can't we fall in Nanning?"

"Just because Yunnan is close to the border, the drug and poverty problems are serious? This is really unreasonable."

The ‘Shengguang’ Group in 1992 was so dazzling. Since Zhou Qingfeng’s move to reap the benefits of Da Mao, it has settled in more than a dozen cities in China for major projects.

These projects range from several hundred million to several hundred million, and the benefits brought by them are immediate.

The Daqin Machine Tool Plant in Hanzhong City was restructured last year and settled in two nine-axis five-linkage super-large machine tools. It also won a number of R&D projects such as multi-mode CNC machine tools, and the R&D investment easily exceeded 100 million yuan.

The nine-axis machine tool began to make money in the second half of last year, and the benefits of Daqin doubled. It is difficult to say what the progress of the ‘multi-mode CNC’ project is, but the project team has gathered thousands of software and hardware talents, all with a monthly salary of several thousand or even tens of thousands.

The broken factory, who was dying of a loss, reached the hands of the'Holy Light' and immediately turned over. The factory has no houses for several years, and last year began to build a family building. In the past, the young people of Daqin couldn't find their wives, but now girls have to line up to get married.

There are too many similar projects, and the people pay attention to the benefits. Now I learned from newspapers and TV that the "Holy Light" had come from Jiangxi to Yunnan, and the province immediately felt hope was coming.

From the New Year's Day special issue expressing the need to invest, to the mid-month pull of manufacturers from all over the country to Kunming to hold a seminar, the project is advancing very fast. This is also the ‘Holy Light’ is famous and attractive enough that there are not so many factories willing to make a complete set when changing another house.

The seminar has to discuss a lot of things, such as land, construction, logistics, technical specifications, materials and craftsmanship, etc. Zhou Qingfeng provided a VCD material list, hundreds of parts of different specifications, and pondered those that could be made and those that could not be made.

What can't be made is caught out for technical research. Zhou Qingfeng squatted in each project team and engaged in a'thinking storm' every day. For example, the decoder board, the most difficult is the chip, which requires the cooperation of the semiconductor industry.

There are also laser heads and servo motors, which require great efforts in materials and processes. In the past, these are difficult problems that are insurmountable. A seminar can't handle these things and can only talk about them in general.

But with Zhou Qingfeng, a local rich man, the seminar paid close attention to details and captured all the units in the industry chain.

Some branch industries are even blank in China. Several colleges and universities in Kunming took advantage of this opportunity to fund projects and were extremely happy.

At the end of the month, several state-owned electronics factories in Yunnan were restructured and reorganized by the "Shengguang" capital injection of 500 million. At the beginning of February, the layoffs were completed, and the ‘harmony’ department also entered Yunnan to absorb laid-off workers and re-employ them, but nothing happened.

The success of the restructuring has given great confidence to both the government and the enterprise, paving the way for subsequent larger-scale investments. In mid-March, the first batch of 100 VCDs with core components provided by Zhou Qingfeng completed a small-scale trial production, all of which were used for testing.

There have been many small problems, but they can all be improved.

By the end of March, the supporting five disc pressing production lines will be shipped from Hong Kong, declared and imported at Nanning Customs in Guangxi, and will be shipped to Kunming for installation.

Nanning’s leaders personally went to Kunming to find Zhou Qingfeng for these production lines, “If you don’t eat the meat, you have to give the soup a bite. Kunming has taken away the VCD project, and we are willing to provide it as a support.”

These production lines are all industrial waste bought by e-commerce, and later generations of illegal optical disc suppression production lines are everywhere in Guangdong. Ten thousand dollars can be used to build a recording device, and tens of thousands of dollars can be increased.

But CDs still need to be imported, and the polycarbonate used to produce CDs is even missing. Zhou Qingfeng simply asked Nanning whether he would like to start several chemical projects.

With the development of domestic industry, chemicals such as polyethylene, polypropylene and PX will soon be in short supply, and a large number of domestic products will be imported and even become stuck abroad.

Zhou Qingfeng can invest in domestic research and development or introduce chemical plants abroad, but there needs to be a place to undertake it.

Ordinary people are guided by the media and are always suspicious and fearful of chemical industry. But the days without chemicals are like no steel, and modern life cannot do without chemicals.

Environmentalists shout every day to boycott chemical plants, but they themselves are unwilling to live a true ‘pastoral’ life.

The construction of chemical plants is standardized, just copy the successful experience of foreign countries. Guangxi is also willing to give 5 billion credits to keep chemical plants in the province. Although this amount of money is far from enough to build a chemical plant, this attitude is excellent.

So Zhou Qingfeng decided to invest, and first "Shengguang Entertainment" opened a branch in Nanning, specializing in the production of various CD-ROM video products. This is another new market.

As for the chemical plant, self-research and introduction, both domestic and foreign.

By the beginning of April, mass production in VCD was very successful. After all, this thing had no difficulty except for the core components, it was just assembling.

Zhou Qingfeng's idea of ​​engaging in production is also very simple, first make it out, and then localize it step by step. Kunming's restructuring electronics factory easily achieved his goal.

But if the product is produced, can it sell well? People have no idea. Not only the newly appointed "Shengguang Audio-visual Equipment Factory" general manager Ling Xia has no bottom, but also Kimura, who was recruited from Japan to be responsible for quality control.

One of these two people was originally selected by the Kunming state-run unit. Let alone go abroad, they don't even have a high degree of education. The other was a graduate of Tokyo Tei University, but his family was bankrupt because of his obsession with marble shops.

When the two teamed up to manage the new factory, they both sighed at each other's lives. Now they are standing at the door of the factory warehouse, staring at the porters carrying the finished products into the truck, and they are also uneasy.

"Mr. Kimura, Japan's electronic technology is so advanced, there is really no VCD?" Factory Manager Ling is in his 30s. He has recently taught himself Japanese and speaks decently in three months.

"No." Kimura is in his forties, with messy hair, and is considered a successful person in Japan. But he has no wife, no girlfriend, no children, and his only hobby is the pinball machine for gambling.

"Then is anyone willing to buy this thing?"

The two talked about an unnutritious dialogue, waiting for the two thousand VCDs to be loaded. This thing will be airlifted to the magic city, priced at 48.1 units.

When the price was reported, the whole factory felt that the group week was always crazy? Even the leaders of the province felt too outrageous. Who will sell such expensive domestic products?

But no one can change the president's mind, he just wants to sell it so expensive!

"Mr. Kimura, I'm leaving. Please continue to stare at the factory. Production cannot be relaxed."

Director Ling will fly to the magic city at random and stare at the product in person. Yunnan Province and Kunming City have placed great expectations for this project, and the whole province hopes that this thing can be sold.

But when this thing is made so simple, people in the province are a little worried-the product completed so quickly does not seem to be a high-end product. It has no precedent in foreign countries, it is really a domestic original product.
