Chapter 181: Saruman the Betrayer (1)
"Hey, I am indeed a dragon slayer. How did you recognize me?" Aragorn opened his hood, smiled and clinked a drink with Abel.
"It's not hard to recognize you like this." Abel took a sip of the fruit wine and stared at Aragorn, whose face was full of vicissitudes of life.
"Tell me carefully, I think my disguise has been very successful." Aragorn pulled out a chair, sat down, grabbed a piece of beef from the table and chewed it seriously.
Seeing Aragorn looking like he was reincarnated as a starving ghost, Abel called the waiter next to him and asked him to continue serving a few hard dishes before looking at Aragorn again.
"Your first vulnerability is this..." Abel pointed to the King's Sword hanging on Aragorn's waist.
"This doesn't count. Apart from you, few people here can recognize it." Aragorn covered the King's Sword under his robe with his oil-stained hands.
"Okay." Abel shrugged and continued: "The workmanship of your cloak and the elven writing on it can be seen at a glance that it was made by elves."
Aragorn looked at the Norton text on the cloak and curled his lips, still a little unconvinced. It is impossible for ordinary people to see these details.
"Also, you have a unique smell, I can feel it." Abel said with certainty.
"Taste?" Aragorn heard this, raised his arms and smelled his armpits, and said with a depressed look: "It doesn't smell like anything!"
"Ahem, that's not the smell I'm talking about." Abel looked at Aragorn in silence and continued, "Can't you pay attention to your personal image? You look too sloppy."
Twenty years later, Aragorn has grown into a handsome uncle. However, his greasy long hair and stubble make him look less "clean".
He was the same age as Abel, so he and Abel were completely different generations when they sat next to each other.
"You don't understand this. Don't you think I'm more attractive like this?" Aragorn pushed his greasy long hair back and raised his eyebrows at Abel.
"I don't think so. You will only make me feel greasier." Abel said.
"Tch, you don't understand..." Aragorn saw Abel's disgusted expression and said, "Ask them if I feel safer like this."
After the four hobbits saw that the person coming was Abel's friend, they had already put down their guard.
They looked at Aragorn, who had a more mature face, and nodded subconsciously.
After receiving the approval of the Hobbit, Aragorn said proudly: "See, this is the charm of a mature man."
Abel didn't want to continue on this topic. He asked, "What is your purpose here?"
In the past twenty years, Aragorn has been with Arwen almost every day, rarely leaving the Golden Forest.
When it came to the topic, Aragorn became serious. He lowered his voice and said: "Queen Galadriel received Gandalf's message and knew that the ring is in your hands. So she sent me to escort you to Rivendell."
"I see..." Abel nodded and told Gandalf his plan.
"Well, seeing you here, I knew that this mission would be very easy." Aragorn said after eating and drinking: "In order to get here as soon as possible, I haven't slept all day and night. I will go up first.
Take a rest, remember to help me pay for the meal and hotel before you come up..."
Aragon didn't look like a rich man, so Abel didn't argue with him.
After finishing the meal, Abel came to the bar and paid for Aragorn.
In the next few days, with Abel as the sponsor, everyone ate and drank well in the hotel waiting for Gandalf's arrival.
On the other side, after several days of traveling, Gandalf came to Isengard.
"Gandalf, why do you have time to come to my place?" Saruman brought Gandalf into the Star Observation Tower with a smile on his face.
The Star Observation Tower is not only Saruman's home, but also a place where he observes the stars and predicts the direction of Middle-earth.
On the way, Gandalf told Saruman about the One Ring in the Shire.
"You mean that the Supreme Lord of the Rings has always been in the Shire." Saruman's eyes flashed: "The devil's men have been looking for the Supreme Lord of the Rings... It seems that their brains have been ruined by the orcs."
"So I came to you. We still have some time to deal with the ring." Gandalf said.
"Time? You mean time..." Saruman retorted: "Sauron's power has been slowly recovering. Although he is still a spirit, he is still on a high tower somewhere in Modo, overlooking Middle-earth.
everything...
His sight can penetrate thick clouds, shadows, earth, and even flesh."
Under Gandalf's disbelieving eyes, Saruman continued: "You know what I'm talking about!
A giant eye without eyelids, surrounded by flames.
He is gathering strength, and he will soon summon a powerful army to attack Middle-earth..."
"The Eye of Sauron~" Gandalf said solemnly: "How do you know this?"
"I saw it with my own eyes!" Saruman led Gandalf towards the height of the Star Observation Tower, where there was a crystal ball covered with black cloth.
"The Crystal of True Knowledge is a dangerous thing. You should not use it." Gandalf walked to the black cloth and said.
"Why should you be afraid of using it?" Saruman opened the black cloth, and a crystal wrapped around the eyeball appeared in front of the two of them.
"Some of the gnosis crystals have disappeared. No one knows what is watching on the other side of the crystal." Gandalf grabbed the black cloth and covered the gnosis crystal.
The transmission of the True Knowledge Crystal is mutual, and two crystals can share perspectives.
"Time waits for no time~" Saruman lamented: "Sauron's army is approaching, and the Ringwraiths have also left Modor. Under the guidance of the moonlight, they will find the ring bearer."
"The Ringwraiths..." Gandalf said in surprise: "Have they gone to the Shire already?"
"Yes, they will be attracted to the ring bearer and kill the ring bearer." Saruman said calmly.
"Frodo~"
No matter how dull Gandalf was, he could still see that there was something wrong with Saruman, so he turned around and was about to leave the Star Observation Tower.
However, no matter which door Gandalf went to, the door would immediately close.
Gandalf knew that the matter would not be solved so easily, and he walked towards Saruman angrily.
"You are not so naive as to think that a hobbit can compete with Sauron's will!" Saruman said solemnly: "Saruman's power is unparalleled. Anyone who wants to compete will die!"
In Gandalf's shocked eyes, Saruman said: "We must join forces with him, Gandalf~
We must join forces with him, my old friend. This is a wise choice!"
"Tell me, my 'friend', when did Saruman the Wise become mad!" Gandalf glared at Saruman and raised his wand.
However, facing Gandalf who couldn't believe it, Saruman, who had already planned it, acted more decisively.
Gandalf was knocked away by a force of magic, hit the wall, and slowly slid to the ground.
