Chapter 205: The Road to Mordor
Because of the large number of people, they also brought their mounts. Abel, Gandalf and more than a thousand elven warriors took a big boat to the Anduin Falls in the early morning of the third day.
"Report to the Adventurer King, our people discovered the small boat that Aragorn and his friends were riding in before, but one of them is missing. Do you want to take a serious look at it?" the elf scout asked Abel who was standing on the rock.
"Oh~" Abel turned to look at the wizard who was using tracking magic and asked: "Gandalf, how are you doing over there?"
Gandalf's magic power has indeed increased a lot since he was promoted to the White Wizard.
At this moment, the white light on his wand was divided into three streams, two of which were pointing in the direction of the Kingdom of Rohan. The other one was pointing below the waterfall, where Mordor was located.
Gandalf saw from the tracking magic that the Fellowship of the Ring was divided into three teams. One of the teams did not follow the route guided by Celeborn.
"Let's go check out the ships first. I have an ominous premonition." Gandalf put away his wand and said with a serious face.
Under the leadership of the servant, Abel and Gandalf came to the river beach where the Fellowship of the Ring hid their boats.
Washed by the river water, a row of large and disorderly footprints can still be clearly seen on the river beach.
"These are the unique footprints of Hobbits..." Gandalf looked at the footprints on the ground and said solemnly: "It's Frodo, he still chose to go on the road alone."
"Should we follow and help?" Abel asked, raising his eyebrows.
Judging by the time, Frodo should have set foot on the territory of Mordor by now, and should also have met Gollum.
"No, let's go to Rohan." Gandalf thought for a long time and said: "Saruman's wizard's tower is very close to Rohan. I have a hunch that he will make big moves next."
"Okay, let's go to Rohan." Abel nodded and agreed to the wizard's proposal.
After deciding where to go, Abel gathered his team. Everyone rode on their horses and headed towards the city of Rohan.
…
On the other side, Frodo and Sam had set foot on the land of Mordor last night.
After three days of drifting on the water, the two hobbits landed on land and found a cave to spend the night.
In his sleep, Frodo once again dreamed of the scene where Gandalf, Abel and the Balrog fell into the abyss at the same time.
Immediately afterwards, the three people started a fierce fight at the bottom of the abyss.
Just when Abel and Gandalf were about to join forces to kill the Balrog, the magma from the ground suddenly burst out, and the fiery red magma swallowed the three of them.
"No~Abel...Gandalf..." Frodo woke up from his nightmare and blocked a beam of sunlight that shone on his face from outside the cave with his hands.
"Frodo, are you having nightmares again?" Sam was woken up and asked worriedly looking at Frodo's pale face.
"I'm fine, it's just a dream." Frodo shook his head, not wanting to worry his friends.
The two packed their bags and walked out of the cave. Looking at the rugged road in front of them, they couldn't help but feel confused.
"Do you know the way to Mordor?" Sam turned around and asked.
The two of them hadn't noticed last night that the road in front of them was covered with swamps, fog and towering peaks.
"I don't know, but as long as we keep heading southeast, we will definitely reach Mordor." Frodo said firmly.
"Okay." Sam put on his luggage and walked to the front to clear the way for the two of them.
After more than half a day's journey, Sam stopped.
At this moment, the two of them were surrounded by fog and couldn't tell their direction at all.
"Mordor is a place in the entire Middle Earth that we should not approach..." Sam looked at the fog around him and said, "It seems that it doesn't welcome us either. We can't find the way to Mordor."
"Face it, Frodo. We are lost," Sam persuaded. "If Gandalf were here, he wouldn't want us to keep going."
"There are many things we don't want to happen, but it has happened. Sam~" Frodo said, looking into the distance.
Suddenly, the scene in Frodo's eyes began to change. A huge evil eye appeared in his sight.
Frodo covered his head in pain, and the scene in front of him returned to normal.
"Frodo, is it causing trouble?" Sam noticed Frodo's abnormality and saw the magic ring around his neck flicker.
"Its power is getting stronger and stronger..." Frodo held the Lord of the Rings around his neck, feeling heavy.
"Let's take a rest." Sam could see that Frodo was in a bad state.
After he put down the package, he helped Frodo sit down on a clean rock.
After Frodo grabbed the water bag and drank some water, he felt a little better. He looked at the friends next to him and asked, "How much food do we have?"
"Let me see..." Sam opened the package, turned it over a few times, took out a large package of croissants, and said with a smile: "Look, lambas, a lot of lambas."
Lambas bread is a unique food of the elves. Just eating a small piece can last you a day.
These Rambas bread are the dry food that Galadriel prepared for everyone when they left the Golden Forest.
Sam took out a piece of bread and broke half of it to Frodo.
The two hobbits grabbed the bread and began to eat.
"I usually don't like outside food, but the elf food tastes pretty good." Sam chewed the bread with a happy expression on his face.
"Nothing can affect your mood, right, Sam?" Infected by Sam's mood, the expression on Frodo's face relaxed.
"No, these damn fogs make me feel very bad." Sam swallowed the bread in his hand and looked at the fog around him with a serious expression.
After eating and drinking, the two hobbits continued on their way. Just now, there was a strange movement in the Lord of the Rings, pointing out the way forward for them.
After another half day, the fog around the two of them became heavier and heavier.
"Stop, Sam." Frodo stopped Sam and said, "I am familiar with this place. We have been here..."
The poisonous gas that appeared in the fog made the two hobbits dizzy. They were lost again.
"There must be a rotten swamp nearby. I smell a strange smell in the air." Sam noticed something unusual and stopped and looked around.
"It's not just the poisonous gas..." Frodo lowered his voice and said, "I feel like someone is following us."
The two looked at each other and understood each other's thoughts.
"Oh, I'm so tired. We need to rest." Sam said grandly.
"Yes, let's go there and sleep for a while." Frodo pointed to a small hillside and agreed with Sam.
The two hobbits were lying on the foot of a hill in perfect harmony. After a while, the sound of their even snores came from the foot of the hill.
"Baby...my baby...thief..."
"Get it...my baby..."
A thin figure appeared from the top of the hillside. He was Gollum who had followed the hobbits all the way.
Gollum's eyes glowed green, and his branch-like claws stretched out towards Frodo.
