Lisco's American Life
119, Rooster and Colt's Remembrance (Day 5)
"Golly is pregnant and I'm going to be a father." Colt looked excited when facing his brother.
"Really?" The rooster was also surprised. This is the third generation of the Bannard family.
He hurriedly took off his gloves and took out his mobile phone from his pocket.
"Tell Maggie immediately," Rooster excitedly tried several times with his fingers but failed to unlock the phone.
Although he is not his own child, he is his uncle.
This news really swept away the darkness of the family that had been silent for a long time.
"Maggie is already fighting." Colt stopped the cock that was still struggling with the phone lock.
The two brothers hugged each other fiercely, then separated, looking at each other and grinning widely.
"Hahahahaha"
The two brothers laughed and laughed, and their voices gradually decreased. Rooster lowered his head, then raised his head again, with tears streaming down his face.
The same goes for Colt opposite him.
"Tell me, if Bo were here, what would it be like to hear this news?"
Rooster choked out what both brothers were thinking.
"He will definitely teach me a lesson and teach me to be a good father." Colt sniffed hard, as if his father was right in front of him, watching the two of them.
The rooster was silent for a moment, then suddenly stood up.
"I'm going to see him, do you want to come with me?"
"certainly."
The rooster dug out a collection of whiskey on the wine cabinet in the house.
Since Bo left, he would buy some good whiskey when he saw it. As usual, he would fill half a bottle into his wine bottle, seal the rest and put it on the top of the wine cabinet.
This was a tacit understanding between him and Beau. Even though Beau was gone, he would still keep this habit and share a bottle of whiskey with his cowboy dad.
Rooster brought three cups with him and motioned for Colt to follow.
The two rode horses and quickly arrived at their family cemetery.
"Bo, grandpa, grandpa." The rooster stood in this cemetery with tombstones, and first whispered his purpose.
"Today our Banard family has a new member. His gender is not yet known, but our Banard bloodline is continuing."
After a moment of silence, Rooster sat in front of Bo's tombstone. He looked at the photo with neatly styled hair and a cowboy outfit. He brushed off the dust in front of him. There were flowers sent two days ago in front of the tombstone. It was obvious.
Come out, roosters usually come here often.
In contrast, Colt was a little ashamed. He was usually so careless that he didn't even think of coming to see Bo often.
The rooster patted the open space next to him and motioned for him to sit down.
When you open the whiskey, the unique smell of wine comes out of the bottle.
"The wine is good," Colt was very touched by his brother's intentions, and his nose was a little choked unconsciously.
"This is my habit." The rooster knew what his brother was feeling sad about, so he patted him to comfort him.
The yellow wine liquid was poured into small cups, three cups were placed, and one was placed in front of Bo.
"Colt, come on, cheers."
Rooster picked up his wine glass, gestured to Bo and Colt, and drank it in one gulp.
Colt also followed his actions and drank the same.
"Do you hate Bo?" Rooster suddenly mentioned this matter.
Colt thought about it carefully. Since Bo left, although the two brothers were equally sad, they had not sat down together and had a good chat like today.
"Don't hate, it's better to be rebellious." Colt was very calm. The biggest conflict between him and his father was that he ignored the opposition of his family and participated in the selection of the rugby club alone. He ran away from home for more than ten years.
Not going home.
He gave up his family for his ideals, and although he finally came back, the estrangement had already been laid. He knew that Rooster had always been resentful towards him, so after returning this time, he was also trying to find ways to compensate his family.
But before he could do anything, Bo left first.
After he came back, Beau had actually forgiven him, but the old cowboy's character didn't know how to get along with his rebellious son whom he hadn't seen in more than ten years, and he couldn't express his love.
Rooster's resentment towards him is that Colt abandoned the whole family. Rooster is a family-oriented person, so he has been helping at home after graduation. He has never thought of leaving Garrison and experiencing those prosperous big cities.
.
Because he knew that if he left, Bo and Maggie would really have no one to accompany them.
So this is also the reason why he has always resented Colt deeply.
"Actually, Bo loves you very much." Rooster drank another glass of wine and said to Colt.
"Although I have been with him all the time, I know that because he can see me every day, he is not worried about me. He is always worried about your little son who is wandering outside."
Rooster would often wake up in the middle of the night and hear Bo sighing and searching for Colt Club matches on TV. Occasionally the camera would turn around and shine on Colt on the bench, and he would be pleasantly surprised.
I also found that Bo's notebook had all the news about Colt posted, including news about him making it to the state tournament in school, being drafted into the club, being traded, his results, fights, and even being expelled.
All the reports were neatly cut, and Rooster also gave this notebook to Colt when he was cleaning things after the funeral.
"Have you seen the notebook?" Rooster turned to ask his brother.
"See," Colt looked melancholy. This news gave him a big blow. He always thought that his father didn't love him, but he didn't expect that he had been paying attention to him silently. This discovery made him think back to his relationship with Bo.
quarrel.
It made him even more sad.
"I'm jealous of you," Rooster said what he had been hiding in his heart.
"You are loved by everyone. Maggie likes you. She has always thought that I can do anything. I want to leave the pub to you. Even if you give up your family, Beau is still worried about you the most." Rooster drank another glass, and the whiskey was already there.
Bottomed out.
"Everyone thinks I don't have to worry about anything. I work diligently on the ranch. Beau still won't praise me. Maggie's love for me is only a fraction of yours."
Because he has never left home, everyone pays less attention to him, and he has always behaved very mature and stable.
"But Beau left the ranch to you,"
Colt didn't understand what his brother was thinking. He never knew what Rooster was thinking in his heart.
"So he is my biggest support, my father." Rooster lowered his head in pain and burst into tears.
"Brother, you and I and Maggie are still here. Our family is still here, as well as your nephew or niece."
Colt stepped forward and hugged his brother Rooster. At this moment, Rooster changed his usual stability and looked extremely fragile.
The setting sun shone over, covering everything on the earth with golden color. Faintly, Colt seemed to see Bo's figure, looking at the brothers from a distance, the corners of his mouth still turned up as before.
