Marvel: The Twelve Spells

Chapter 20 Norman Osborne

Night, eleven o'clock.

The glass door was open, and a row of wet footprints on the wooden corridor extended into the house.

Moonlight came in through the huge floor-to-ceiling windows and hit Dr. Connors' face.

He looked like he had just been fished out of the water. His hair and face were stained with water, and the white coat and overalls he had just put on were also soaked in water.

The embarrassed Dr. Connors sat in the research room of his messy home.

This is where his lifelong research efforts are stored, as well as the research results that have made significant recent progress.

But tonight, the place seemed to have been ransacked. Book pages and printer paper were scattered all over the floor, the safe was violently broken open, and even the computer's hard drive was disassembled and taken away.

Dr. Connors sat calmly in the chair, but the skin on his neck had turned green. He continued to take deep breaths to keep himself calm.

He picked up the landline on the table and dialed. Although he already had a guess, he still wanted to verify it.

"It's me, Curtis Cote Connors. Who's in my house tonight?"

"Good evening Dr. Connors, your guests are Mr. Peter Parker and Mr. Vanita Reddy."

Dr. Connors hung up the phone and continued dialing Reddy's number.

The call was quickly answered.

"You stole my information, data, models, equations, test results, serum... you stole everything." Dr. Connors said solemnly.

Reddy could hear Dr. Connors' anger, but he didn't care.

"Doctor, you seem to have forgotten that the Osborne Group has funded your continuous research these years, but we can't see returns from you. Mr. Norman has no time to wait." Reddy's words were extremely harsh, "Those things It doesn’t belong to you, but to Norman Osborne, and now I just get it all back for Mr. Norman.”

Dr. Connors continued to take deep breaths, trying his best to suppress some of the crazy and bloody thoughts that came to his mind.

"Listen Reddy, that formula is immature, and there are big problems with the serum." Dr. Connors almost yelled into the phone, "I have already tested it, and the serum is defective!"

"So what?" Reddy smiled contemptuously, "We have called on the best biological research team in the Osborne Group. I think as long as there are enough test samples, we can always correct the wrong formula and optimize it to treat Norman. The perfect serum for sir.”

"You can't start human experiments!" Dr. Connors was trembling all over. "That will kill many people and create more monsters..."

"Who cares?" Reddy smiled and said: "They should be proud of being able to participate in the evolution of humans! This will be a landmark scientific research, but it is a pity that these have nothing to do with you... Connors PhD!"

Dr. Connors listened to the busy tone on the phone, and after a long time the phone receiver was crushed by him.

Slowly, his face became particularly ferocious, and his skin turned blue again. The first thing to change was the newly grown left hand, which turned into the front paw of a lizard. His body grew at a speed visible to the naked eye, and his white work clothes were slowly stretched apart...

"Vanita Reddy, Norman Osborn..." Connors, who turned into a lizard man again, repeated it over and over again.

Reddy put down the phone, and the smile on his face disappeared without a trace in an instant. He stood on the top floor of the Osborne Building, overlooking the bright night view of New York.

After a while, he took out his mobile phone and turned it to silent mode, turned around and walked into a luxurious suite.

"Sir, the trial of 'Lizard Serum' has been started. There are many disabled soldiers in the army hospital. As long as they undergo enough experiments, the serum can be optimized." Reddy stood behind the desk and bowed, full of respect. explain.

"Enough experiment?" Norman Osborne sounded very dissatisfied.

Reddy was sweating profusely and could only remain silent. He could not guarantee the progress of the experiment.

Because if Norman hadn't received the qualified lizard serum by the day he promised, he would lose his life as punishment.

"I gave you a lot of time, but over the years you and Connors can only come up with a defective lizard serum?" Norman's tone was cold, "I can only give you the last month. If you still disappoint me, then please serve as a pioneer and inject the lizard serum."

"Yes!" Reddy could only bow. He was covered in cold sweat under the high tension and fear.

"Connors' awareness is much higher than yours..." Norman turned to look at the picture played on the big screen hanging on the wall and said, "Because of his bravery, he also received a reward."

What was playing on the screen was tonight's scene of the Lizardman fighting the police and Spider-Woman on the Brooklyn Bridge. Even though the Lizardman was hit time and time again by the police using thermal weapons and his tail was pulled off by Spider-Woman, he could still do it. The ability to heal the injured part within a short period of time is the envy of all human beings suffering from illnesses.

"Although turning into a lizard is ugly and disgusting, I finally gained health and strength." Norman said to himself.

Under the light, the green glass test tube next to him reflected a coquettish light. It was a lizard serum.

"What about the research on mutant spiders?" Norman asked in a low voice.

"It has been declared a failure..." Reddy bowed again, his head almost at the same height as the desk. "I injected spider serum into human test subjects, but all ended in failure. Spider serum endotoxin has never been resolved."

Norman didn't speak. He didn't look that angry because he was used to failures and blows over the years.

The Osborne family suffers from a rare genetic disease that is incurable and fatal. Every generation of Osborne will die young from this disease.

As the president of the world's most powerful biotechnology company, Norman Osborne was certainly unwilling to accept this result. He used all financial and material resources to find a cure for the disease.

The most feasible way is to use cross-species gene transfer technology to extend life. Over the years, he has studied the genes of many species, trying to create the perfect serum to extend his life, but so far all projects have ended in failure.

Therefore, the failure of this spider serum was also expected by him. After all, even the mutant spiders cultivated in the experiment suffered large-scale deaths.

"Has the cause of the mass death of mutated spiders been investigated?" Norman asked calmly.

"According to the surveillance, two people illegally entered the laboratory at that time..." Reddy breathed a sigh of relief.

"One of them is the intern leader of Connors' team, Gwen Stacey, and the other is a student from Midtown Institute of Technology." Reddy said slowly: "And we noticed that starting from that period , there is a superhero named 'Spider-Woman' on the streets of New York..."
