Mastering Lightning from Hogwarts

#252 - Prefect Carriage (asking for monthly ticket recommendation)

As for certificates, he didn't particularly value them, probably only planning to take a few symbolically. If his alchemy business was exceptionally good, or if his plans changed, he might even graduate without any.

After all, certificates were more important for job hunting, but he didn't intend to work for anyone after graduation. He wanted to start his own business and do research.

After graduation, he would definitely take a trip to mainland Europe, to Anduin, where many Death Eaters were still hiding. He always believed in eliminating these hidden enemies completely.

Moreover, compared to doing business, directly plundering from others was a faster and easier way to acquire resources. Death Eaters were the perfect targets, and it wouldn't violate the law. Most of these guys were from pure-blood noble families and definitely weren't poor.

At the same time, the unpunished werewolf Fenrir sometimes kept him awake at night. Insomnia could lead to sudden death, and he absolutely couldn't let go of someone who indirectly endangered his life by affecting his sleep.

He also constantly worried about the condition of the Longbottom couple. He could also take the opportunity to collect information on mind magic while traveling abroad to see if he could find a cure.

Once he had solved all these problems, maybe he could finally enjoy life.

However, now was not the time to indulge in fantasies. Arriving at King's Cross Station again, Anduin glanced at the Prefect's badge in his hand.

It stated that each house's prefects needed to attend a meeting in the designated prefect carriage after boarding the Hogwarts Express, to receive instructions from the Head Boy and Head Girl.

The prefect carriage was in the frontmost section of the train. Anduin had noticed it in previous years, always with a locked door that prevented anyone from entering. Only after showing the Prefect's badge would the magical door open.

"I never thought I'd enjoy this kind of privilege one day," Anduin chuckled self-deprecatingly, then walked onto the special carriage.

Entering the prefect carriage, he found that it was not like other carriages, entirely composed of individual compartments, but consisted of a large open area and four compartments.

The large open area was a small open-plan conference room with a rectangular table. At the front were two chairs, and on both sides of the table were two rows of seats, not very large, but not too crowded either.

The other part was four large compartments, decorated according to house. The internal space was much larger than the compartments in other carriages, easily accommodating 8-10 people in each.

Inside the compartments were rows of circular seats, like a circular KTV room, equipped with exquisite velvet seats, covered with warm blankets, and a beautifully decorated round table in the center. They were also decorated with brightly colored carpets and curtains, and next to the seats were even wine cabinets and snack cabinets, although the wine cabinets were filled with non-alcoholic beverages.

Hogwarts selects one boy and one girl from each house in their fifth year to serve as prefects, and they will hold this position until graduation.

Therefore, in theory, each house will have six prefects at the same time, with a total of 24 in the entire school. If the prefects do not also serve as student council president, there would only be two more people, and most of the time, the prefect positions are not all filled, as some seventh-year prefects will leave school early for internships or apply for early graduation.

So such a large carriage only accommodates 26 people, and even if it is divided into two parts, it still seems quite spacious.

Although Anduin arrived at the station early, there was already a boy waiting in the conference room. This person was sitting at the head of the conference table, apparently this year's Head Boy.

Anduin recognized him as Marin Macmillan, a seventh-year Hufflepuff who had joined the Charms Club two years ago. They could be considered acquaintances.

"Anduin, you're here so early. I'm so glad to see you become a prefect," Marin said with a bright smile, greeting him warmly.

"Aren't you even earlier? I haven't had a chance to congratulate you yet, Mr. Head Boy," Anduin chuckled.

"Don't make fun of me. If I were in the same year as you, I wouldn't have become Head Boy. I came so early because I didn't want to fail as Head Boy," Marin was a typical Hufflepuff, giving people a sense of honesty and reliability.

After that, Anduin sat at the conference table, chatting with Marin. As time passed, more prefects entered the carriage.

These prefects were clearly more disciplined than the other young wizards, and they were all present before the train was scheduled to depart.

Then Anduin discovered that most of these prefects were acquaintances, most of whom had joined the Charms Club, and they all nodded politely to him when they saw him.

He also saw Charles become the fifth-year Gryffindor prefect, and Oriana from Ravenclaw became the Ravenclaw prefect as well.

After entering the carriage, these prefects also consciously came to the conference table at the front.

"Everyone," Marin said with a smile, interrupting the greetings and drawing their attention to himself, "Please take your seats as soon as possible. The first short meeting before the start of the term is about to begin."

"I am Marin Macmillan, this year's Head Boy and seventh-year Hufflepuff prefect. You should all know me, so I'll keep it short," Marin spoke succinctly and efficiently, quickly getting to the point.

"First, I would like to congratulate the new prefects and explain our daily work," Marin opened a notebook in front of him and said aloud, "First, after the Hogwarts Express departs, all prefects must patrol the train corridors, with two prefects responsible every half hour, and then alternate."

"Secondly, after arriving at the school, the Slytherin and Gryffindor prefects must find your Head of House as soon as possible and obtain the password to enter the common room. Then, after the dinner, lead the new students back to the common room. Pay attention to some slow-moving new students and be careful not to let them fall behind. Remember that little Gryffindor lion last year? He almost got lost."

The old prefects laughed softly at Marin's joke, and it was clear that this incident was quite famous in the prefect circle last year.

"Then there's the night patrol. I will announce this year's patrol routes and schedules at the first prefect meeting in the house. The meeting time is tomorrow at 8:00 AM, and the location will be in the Sorting Waiting Room, which is close to the Great Hall and won't delay your breakfast," Marin said, pointing to a certain place in his notebook.
