Mastering Lightning from Hogwarts
#654 - Mr. Ship? (Seeking monthly ticket recommendation ticket)
As the ceiling above cracked, everyone saw a huge black shadow suddenly fall, flashing before their eyes. Only when they saw it clearly did they realize it was actually a giant, three-headed dog with viscous saliva dripping from its mouth!
After the giant dog landed, it first shook its head, as if waking from a beautiful dream, but it quickly noticed the four people at the door.
Then, the giant dog glared at Harry and the others with its six large eyes, and after roaring, it rushed towards them, as if to tear them to pieces!
"Ah!!!"
Harry and the others stared blankly at everything that was happening before them, and after seeing the three-headed dog's actions, they all screamed in unison.
"Run!"
At this moment, they didn't dare to hesitate. They pushed open the door and rushed out without looking back. Fortunately, they were originally at the door and hadn't gone deep inside, otherwise the consequences would have been unimaginable.
After the four of them finally escaped the room and worked together to lock the door again, they looked at each other with lingering fear.
"What the hell was that thing?" Ron's legs were so weak from fright. He thought he was about to die inside.
"I don't know. Why would they lock such a terrifying monster in the school?" Neville leaned weakly against the wooden door, large beads of cold sweat dripping from his forehead.
"It's all your fault. If you weren't so obsessed with legendary items, would we have gotten into this mess?" Hermione complained, looking at the other three.
"But we didn't want this either! Who knew Filch would suddenly appear, and you were the one who opened the door," Ron retorted, although he was as embarrassed as Harry and the others.
"Can we go back now? I'm... oh my god, did you see how scary that monster looked?" Hermione sighed and urged them repeatedly.
"Just go back to the common room with our tails between our legs? But we haven't seen the ship yet," Harry muttered, still somewhat optimistic.
"You still want to go outside?" Hermione looked at Harry in disbelief. The experience they just had was enough to give them nightmares for a night, but now they were thinking of causing more trouble?
"Although we were scared by the monster, we got away without any real harm, didn't we?" Ron chimed in, the allure of the legendary item making him temporarily forget the fright he had just experienced.
"You guys are unreasonable," Hermione couldn't help but roll her eyes.
Harry and Ron were clearly determined, and Neville, although his heart was pounding with fear, still loyally offered to continue following.
Seeing this, Hermione realized that she couldn't argue with them, and now she could only choose to see it through to the end.
After bypassing Filch and successfully reaching the ground floor, everyone inevitably began to discuss the room they had accidentally entered earlier.
"What do you think that room is used for? It was clearly specially arranged. That statue even talked," Ron asked the others with an exaggerated expression, then specifically looked at Hermione, whom he considered the most insightful.
"Didn't you hear what the statue shouted at us? It called us intruders. There might be some special purpose there," Hermione said, seriously thinking. "By the way, did you notice that there was a circular stone slab in the center of the room that looked like it could move? It looked like a door, or a well!"
"A well?" Harry exclaimed. "That's right, didn't the stone statue say something about a 'Well of the Abyss'? Does that mean that's what it was referring to?"
"But why would they build a well in the school? And even put such a terrifying monster on top of it?" Neville was full of doubts.
"Didn't you hear the stone statue say 'Deploy the first layer of defense'?" Hermione, with her good memory, reminded them. "Perhaps that monster is there to guard something important, otherwise why would it be called a guardian?"
"Does that mean there are other layers below that well?" Harry exclaimed with wide eyes. "My god, the first layer of defense is already so scary, how terrifying would it be below?"
"No wonder Headmaster Dumbledore made it a forbidden area. I don't think even professors would fare well if they went in, let alone students!" Neville shook his head in amazement, still unable to forget the three-headed dog's ferocious mouth.
"Professors? Do you think that room might have been created by Professor Wilson?" Hermione suddenly guessed, as if inspired by something.
"You know... that's actually possible. That stone statue looks like an alchemical tool, and no one else at Hogwarts seems to have that kind of ability," Ron agreed with Hermione's idea.
"Then aren't we throwing ourselves into the net by going to find Professor Wilson's ship?" Hermione suddenly stopped, and the other three looked at each other as if they had just realized it.
But just as the four of them stood there hesitating, a voice suddenly came from the side.
"What took you so long? If you hadn't come, I was about to go by myself," Malfoy poked his head out from behind a stone pillar near the front courtyard, looking at everyone with a complaining expression.
Only then did Harry and the others realize that they had unknowingly walked out of Hogwarts Castle and arrived at the place where everyone did morning exercises every day. A little further ahead was the cliff staircase leading to the boathouse.
"Shhh, we have to keep what happened a secret," Seeing Malfoy, Hermione knew that there was no turning back, so she quickly whispered to everyone.
"Okay!"
Harry and the others, though young, weren't stupid, and they nodded in agreement immediately.
Malfoy then walked out impatiently. "What are you whispering about? Are you still going to find that spaceship or not? You were slow enough as it is, and now you're dawdling."
"Did you come alone?" Harry asked, puzzled. Malfoy usually had two other companions with him. He thought Malfoy would have brought his friends along.
"Those idiots, even if they came, it wouldn't mean anything. Only one in a million elites can be recognized, like me, and like you, Potter. What other purpose do bystanders have besides making noise?" Malfoy pointed at himself and then at Harry in a very melodramatic way, completely ignoring the three people beside him.
"You bastard!" Ron was furious at Malfoy's arrogance, but before he could explode, Neville stopped him.
"Enough nonsense, let's go down quickly. We don't even know if what you said is true."
Seeing Malfoy describe his friends as bystanders, Harry also felt very annoyed and didn't bother to give him a pleasant look.
"Heh, now you're urging me. Where were you just now?" Malfoy curled his lip disdainfully, then raised his head and walked behind the stone pillar where he had been hiding, and then took out a neatly folded blanket.
Seeing Harry and the others looking at him curiously, Malfoy asked in surprise, "You don't mean you didn't prepare any gifts? We're going to see that Boatman next!"
"This..." Harry looked at his companions with an embarrassed expression. They had wanted to prepare gifts, but after the sudden incident, who would dare to stay on the fourth floor?
However, Neville reached into his pocket and took out a handful of candy. "Who says we didn't? Isn't this it?"
"Hahaha!" Malfoy laughed loudly. "You're not kidding me, are you? You actually brought a bunch of candy. I can't... I'm going to die laughing."
"Hmph, who knows what that Boatman likes? Maybe he likes candy," Ron retorted, then asked strangely, "What's that in your hand? Did you specially prepare a gift before coming to school?"
"Heh, I'm not going to argue with you," Malfoy raised his chin smugly. "This tapestry in my hand is very special. It's a treasure of our Slytherin House. I finally managed to steal it from the common room today."
"Uh..." Hearing this, Harry and the others looked even more embarrassed. They didn't expect Malfoy to have the same idea as them, and even attacked his own house.
Even Hermione clicked her tongue speechlessly. Why were all these boys so unreliable? Weren't they afraid of stealing things from the school?
However, the five of them only hesitated for a moment, and then hurried down the mountain, looking forward to the legendary item.
Even Hermione felt a strong curiosity in her heart, and she was very interested in the so-called living ship.
As they approached the boathouse at the foot of the mountain, the ship parked in the Black Lake gradually became clearer in their vision.
Even though it was late at night, the surface of this strange three-masted sailing ship still shimmered with a faint blue glow.
The light even rose and fell like the breathing of a living thing, making everyone truly feel that the ship might really have life.
But the eerie glow on the ship also made the entire boathouse look very gloomy, and the whole scene instantly became ghostly.
This made everyone who was approaching swallow hard in fear. The five of them couldn't help but move closer and closer, as if trying to dispel the fear that rose in their hearts.
Even Malfoy, who had been confident before, felt a little uneasy at this moment. Why did this ship look like a ghost ship? He clearly didn't feel this way when he looked at it from a distance.
