Mastering Lightning from Hogwarts
#665 - Giant (asking for monthly ticket recommendation ticket)
"What? You're planning to take everyone to watch that troll?" Snape, upon hearing Anduin's command, rushed to his side, speechless. "That's a dark magic creature. Are you sure you want so many young wizards near it? What if something goes wrong?"
"It's just a troll." Anduin scoffed dismissively. "Flowers in a greenhouse can't thrive. This is a good opportunity for the older students to practice dealing with large creatures, and to give everyone else an emergency escape lesson."
"Besides, with me here, what are you afraid of? Do you think I'd let a stupid troll hurt anyone? If you don't want to come, help escort Setina Warbeck to safety. I'll remind her not to blab to the reporters."
With that, Anduin turned and headed out of the hall, leaving behind a stunned Snape and a group of professors exchanging bewildered glances. This was the first time they'd seen him handle things this way. In a sudden incident like this, you're supposed to evacuate the young wizards first, not lead them to watch!
The young wizards, after receiving Anduin's instructions, immediately transformed from panic to astonishment, and then gradually into delight.
"Did you hear? The professor is taking us to catch a troll!" Ron, who had been the most nervous, was now incredibly excited.
"But is this really appropriate? I read in a book that trolls are dark magic creatures with a danger level of ★★★★. They have incredible strength. We don't have the ability to deal with them. If so many people go, what if someone gets hurt?" Hermione, unlike Ron, wasn't feeling relaxed at all. She thought Anduin's actions were a bit incomprehensible.
"Didn't you see the professor send the older students ahead first? They must have a plan!" By this time, students from each house had gathered into lines and were rushing out. Harry guessed as they walked.
"Um… do you know what the 'Chapter Four, Section Two of the Tactical Manual' that the professor shouted to the older students means?" Neville was more interested in the so-called tactical manual than the incident itself.
"I saw it in 'Tactical Training Studies'!" Hermione showed her know-it-all side. "The so-called tactical manual is an important part of the tactics section of that book. It records various specific standard measures to be taken when encountering enemy situations or dangers. The book says that every Auror in the Ministry of Magic should master and use it."
"And 'Chapter Four, Section Two,' if I remember correctly, should be 'Large Magical Creature Response Strategy.' It details how to capture or kill large creatures, but I'm not too sure about the specifics. I don't understand some of the jargon."
"Cool!" Ron exclaimed excitedly after hearing Hermione's explanation. "Will we be able to see this… strategy in action later?"
"Maybe…" Hermione wasn't sure either. Then she immediately pointed ahead. "Look, we're meeting those older students!"
Sure enough, Anduin's group, who were following him forward, ran into four students guarding the corridor. They were reporting the situation to Anduin.
"Professor, we've located the target. The troll is wandering near the girls' bathroom. Four teams are already carrying out the capture mission. The rest are on guard at various intersections according to the tactical manual. Everything is normal within the execution range," a seventh-year student said respectfully to Anduin.
"Very good. Has that bathroom been checked? Are there any innocent people involved?" Anduin nodded to them and asked.
"This…" The older wizard was at a loss for words. They really hadn't checked that bathroom.
"So you dare to tell me everything is normal when you haven't even cleared the scene?" Anduin glanced at him disapprovingly, then plucked a monocle from his coat pocket, put it on, and looked in a certain direction.
"It's a good thing no one is trapped, otherwise this would be a serious dereliction of duty!" After confirming the safety of the scene with a Sonorus charm, Anduin glared at them sternly, then waved his hand crisply. "Everyone, follow me. I'll show you how to fight when facing a large creature."
With that, Anduin quickened his pace. The older wizards shook their heads in shame and followed the group.
After passing two more corners, the group finally arrived at the scene, and they also saw the intruding troll.
This behemoth was twelve feet tall, with dull, grayish skin like granite, and a bald, coconut-like head on top of its shoulders.
Its legs were very thick, with flat, calloused feet. The troll's arms were long, and it held a hardwood club in its hand. The revolting stench emanating from its body made the young wizards nearby cover their noses.
When they were about thirty meters away from the troll, Anduin stopped and signaled the surrounding young wizards to spread out to both sides, obviously preparing to let everyone watch the troll's capture live.
On the front line, four teams of twelve people had already surrounded the troll.
Everyone saw that one team of wizards was casting spells on the ground, creating a smooth sheet of ice under the troll's feet.
The other three teams kept their distance, cautiously holding their wands, seemingly to prevent emergencies, or perhaps waiting for an opportunity.
The troll, enraged by the surrounding crowd, roared roughly, then swung its long arms wildly, trying to charge at some of the annoying wizards, but the older wizards around it reacted quickly and dodged. At the same time, the ice under its feet made it slip, and it fell on its butt.
The fall of the giant object caused a loud noise, and everyone felt a violent vibration in their feet, but the troll's comical slip still caused a burst of laughter.
"Look at that big guy, it's so smelly and clumsy." George in the crowd was very daring and even laughed out loud.
The troll, who had been knocked down by the older wizards, seemed to have heard George's taunt. It roared angrily, then swung its arms and threw the club in its hand, and the target was George, who was outside the circle of twelve wizards and surrounded by young wizards.
"Careful!" A team of older wizards shouted in alarm after seeing this sudden situation, and immediately cast spells at the club.
However, because the club thrown by the troll was extremely fast, and perhaps because they knew there was a professor backing them up, so they were a little lax, the Levitation Charm, Barrier Charm, and Freezing Charm used by the four people to block it all missed, and the club was about to fall into the crowd.
Looking at the club getting bigger and bigger in their sight, George and the young wizards around him were suddenly blank, and even forgot to shout and dodge.
"Wingardium Leviosa!" "Wingardium Leviosa!"
Just as the club was about to fly in front of everyone, two incantations sounded in the crowd at the same time, and the club was firmly fixed in mid-air as they successfully cast their spells.
When everyone finally came back to their senses, they noticed that the two people who cast the spells were Ron and Hermione, who were not far from George. Their faces were covered with fear, and they maintained the same action of holding their wands.
Seeing that their spells had worked, the horrified expressions on Ron and Hermione's faces slowly faded away, and then the two even smiled at each other tacitly.
Obviously, they hadn't discussed this spellcasting, it was an impromptu move, but they didn't expect the other's reaction to be so fast.
Anduin, who had witnessed everything, first glared coldly at the four older wizards in front, then turned his cold gaze to George, and then softened his expression and gave Ron and Hermione an approving nod.
Seeing that the crisis was resolved, the wizards responsible for surrounding the troll acted again. They kept casting Stupefy Charms at the troll who had fallen and lost its mobility. After a round of volleys, the big guy was knocked down on the spot.
If it weren't for the sudden situation just now, this would obviously be a very standard capture operation.
"Professor, the troll has been captured, what do you think…" Gemma Farley, who was in charge of directing the scene, came to Anduin's side with some trepidation.
"Alright, you guys stand aside and wait." Anduin glanced at her with a bad expression, then shouted loudly to everyone behind him, "Now everyone come over and form a circle around the troll!"
With that, Anduin walked to the troll, and everyone behind him obediently gathered around. The sudden incident just now still made many people feel a burst of fear, so they looked at the ugly troll in front of them with some fear. Many of them were approaching a dark magic creature for the first time.
After everyone came over, Anduin actually stepped on the troll's stomach in front of everyone, looking down at everyone, "Everyone must have seen the behavior of this troll just now, and the capture mission of the older wizards. Next, I will first evaluate this operation."
"The evaluation result is—unqualified!" Anduin glanced coldly at the older wizards waiting beside him.
"First of all, you can't even do such a simple job as clearing the scene. How did I teach you in class? The first step when arriving at the scene of an accident is to troubleshoot and rescue trapped people. Why didn't you check the inside of the bathroom? Just because the troll came out of it?"
Anduin pointed to the girls' bathroom not far away, and reprimanded several older wizards unceremoniously.
