Meet the principal
Act 204. The disappearing paper
After being delayed for a while, Reiner returned to the hotel a little half an hour later than usual.
After lunch in the hotel restaurant, Reiner continued to study the problem of new magic in his room.
Although he gave the old man his address last night, Reiner was not sure whether the old man would come. After all, he did not identify himself at the time, and the note might be regarded as a prank.
After a restless night, Reiner gradually completed his spell, leaving only the final practice session, but the old man was nowhere to be seen.
He didn't take it to heart. Early the next morning, Reiner, who had gotten enough sleep, felt refreshed and rode a carriage outside the manor.
There were still many mages gathered here who wanted their papers to be recognized. Reiner paid special attention and did not see the old woman. He suppressed some doubts in his heart and walked into the hall of the review committee.
Several students arrived at the same time as Reiner. They glanced at Reiner with some questions, but then lowered their heads and left, entering a laboratory on the first floor.
"These must be Roger's students."
Reiner said to himself, walked up to the second floor and came to the office.
He arrived a little early today, and Savros was the only one in the office.
"Good morning, Mr. Savros."
After yesterday's exchange, Reiner learned a little more about the mage who focused on compiling the Dictionary of Serafino's Poetry. He found it difficult to comment on Savros's choice between work and his own career.
But at least, Reiner learned the fact that what he saw was not real, and he had to understand deeply to get the answer.
As soon as he sat down, he saw Director Percival walking into the office dusty, looking around, and finally fixed his gaze on himself.
"Liner, please go to Astor Academy of Advanced Magic on my behalf today."
Percival said, he did not use a question, but a statement. Obviously, this was an order and not a question.
"Yes, yes, but what do I need to do?"
Reiner was a little surprised. Percival himself lived in the teachers' residential area of the school. Is there anything he needed to do for himself?
“You come with me.
"
Immediately, Percival took Reiner to the reference room on the third floor, where there were several boxes of papers placed in categories.
"These are papers that need to be sent to the Magic Association for registration and review comments. We have cooperation with the Astor Academy of Advanced Magic. The registration work is done in the school, and at least one review member needs to be present to supervise."
Percival said succinctly that it seemed like a mechanical job with no special requirements.
"Please send these papers over. The registration process may take a while. You don't need to come back here today."
"I see."
Co-authoring this should be for working outside the home, and it is most likely a leisurely job.
Reiner nodded. He happened to have some business to visit the Astor Academy of Advanced Magic. He originally planned to finish his work here, but now it seems that he might be able to complete it by the way.
Percival nodded slightly, and then called a few people to load these boxes of papers into the cargo carriage, while Reiner sat in the front carriage.
The gate of the manor opened, and a carriage drove out slowly. The crowd that had dispersed gathered again, but the wheels continued to roll forward, ignoring their protests and arguments.
Following the last road, Reiner headed west, along the Trestan River, to the Astor Academy of Advanced Magic.
Before, he walked into the residential area, but this time, Reiner came in through the main entrance.
This school is much larger than Crescent College, and it is not built like a castle, but more like a modern university, with wide squares and roads, neatly arranged teaching buildings, and people wearing standard robes walking together The young mages all made Reiner feel the breath of youth.
He quickly came to the archives. It was a four-story building with a certain age. The architectural style was more classical. The mottled walls had fallen off a lot, giving off an old atmosphere.
Reiner walked into the archives, and the unique scent of ink and paper filled the space.
"Hey, why aren't the judges here with you?"
The person in charge of the archives saw only Reiner, checked the symbol on his robe, and frowned.
He subconsciously thought that Reiner was one of Roger's students.
"I am the jury member."
Reiner showed his badge representing the jury. In order to keep a low profile, he did not pin it on his collar. Otherwise, he would be afraid that if he was recognized while walking on the street, zombie-like mages would swarm up and try to make him a member of the jury. Judge the paper.
"Oh, I'm sorry, I, I didn't expect you to be so young, please forgive me for being rude."
When the person in charge saw this, he felt a little embarrassed.
"It doesn't matter, let's get down to business."
Reiner pointed to the boxes of papers unloaded from the carriage and did not pursue the other party's rudeness.
"Okay, Mr. Judge, I am Cedric, the person in charge of this archive. You can rest in my office during the registration process."
The person in charge, Cedric, who had a mustache and was slightly bald, pointed to the room upstairs, but Reiner shook his head and continued.
"No, I want to know, has your archive collected papers from the school?"
Reiner paused, and then added in order to make the other party understand.
"Just a graduation thesis or something like that."
"Oh, of course, sir, as long as it is a graduation thesis published by a student who graduated from this school, this archive has completely collected it!"
Said quite proudly, Cedric patted his chest and assured.
"I need your people to help find some papers. Here is the table of contents."
Reiner handed over a list, and the first article at the beginning was Miss Sul Heinrich's graduation thesis.
Except for this one, the rest of the papers in this catalog are all papers that Sur noted at the end of the paper as references. Some of them were found by Reiner through the Magic Association, and the rest, it seems, Only included in her alma mater.
"Okay, okay, please wait a moment."
Cedric immediately found a few people to carry the boxes of papers upstairs, while he walked into the archives to look for papers for Reiner.
Reiner sat on the sofa in the hall and waited for a while, then Cedric walked out of the archives with a sad look on his face.
He had some copies of the papers in his hand, but Cedric kept looking at the catalog that Reiner gave him, thoughtfully.
"Sir, reviewer, this is the paper you want, but..."
Cedric hesitated, then continued.
"There is one article that I can't find anywhere, and I don't know why..."
