MMORPG : Ancient WORLD

252 Royal Cities Under Siege

After the demon commander's escape through teleportation, a chaotic aftermath unfolded on the battlefield.

The remaining demons outnumbered and without leadership, faced the wrath of the human army, resulting in the slaughter of most demons.

A handful of demons were captured alive, but the majority of stronger demons chose to end their own lives even though the captain did their best to swiftly capture and seal their mana.

A sense of eerie calm settled over the battlefield, and with no more threats and their goal accomplished, the human soldiers stood amidst the wreckage, their faces reflecting a mixture of exhaustion, relief, and sorrow.

The victory they had fought so hard to achieve had come at a high cost, and the aftermath of the battle was a grim reminder of the sacrifices made.

The ground was littered with the fallen, both human and demon, and the air was thick with the sharp scent of smoke and charred remains.

The once-green fields were now stained with blood, and the landscape bore the scars of the intense battle that had taken place.

The echoes of the demon commander's sinister promise still hung in the air, a haunting reminder of the formidable foe that had narrowly escaped their grasp.

The immediate aftermath saw the human army organizing itself to tend to the wounded, gather the fallen, and ensure the battlefield was cleaned and secured.

Teams of soldiers worked diligently to identify the fallen soldiers, carefully placing their comrades into coffins to honorably bury them while the Demon corpses were gathered and set ablaze.

While the soldiers carried out their orders, the individuals well-versed in space elements tried their best to find any clue where the demon commander and the remainder of the demon army teleported.

The Teleportation magic works in various ways, but it always leaves a mark of the beginning and endpoint in space, which stays for some time and could be located and used to determine the general location of the teleportation.

However, the demon commander left behind a destabilizing magic scroll before his departure, which did no real damage, but it effectively erased the magical markers, making it impossible for the human sorcerers to pinpoint the demons' escape route.

Alex stayed on the battlefield, knowing the demon attack would happen in a few hours, but he did contact Vlad, Hecate, and Guild leader Aster to tell them to prepare to the very best of their ability, knowing the clash would be much worse than he first imagined.

The demons had left behind their war fortress because it was of little use to them, with more than half of its structure destroyed, but Alex was sure that when the demon commander invaded the capital city of Stormward, he would not do it without a war fortress.

All the capital cities had many soldiers living within them and had a number of patrolling guards, but their true protection in case of an emergency came from the army cities connected to them through teleportation buildings.

At the time of the invasion, the demon commander will seal the teleportation building and the area around the city, cutting any form of communication, but he will still need to face various strong individuals residing inside the city.

The war fortress was the demon commander's only hope to accomplish what he wanted, and Alex was sure that he wouldn't abandon the attack knowing it was his only possible chance because the majority of the strong individuals were gathered near the dark barrier.

The guild leaders were initially hesitant, but after hearing that the demons would attack with their war weaponry, they started to prepare for the clash.

After two hours, the army completed its final order of binding the half-destroyed war fortress left behind by the demons to the warships before they started the march to leave the barrier, only leaving behind scouts to watch for any resurgence of demon activity.

After an hour, Alex stood outside the dark barrier where the whole army gathered, now numbering in tens of millions, creating a sea of soldiers.

The goal was accomplished, and the threat to the human continent was neutralized, but there was no ongoing celebration because before, the army laid thousand of coffins containing the bodies of soldiers who lost their lives.

The whole army stood in silence, paying their respects and honoring the memory of those who had fought and fallen beside them.

The honorary silence remained for a few minutes before the command was given, and then a few high-ranking soldiers moved and teleported every coffin to some unknown destination.

Prince Aphariaen then gave a grand speech honoring the fallen soldiers and congratulated the army on their victory.

The higher-ups within the human army assembled to discuss their next steps because even though the portals were closed, they didn't know if more of those portals would be appearing, which was also why armies of every kingdom were being gathered.

There was also the demon commander with an army of demons numbering in the millions under his control, hidden somewhere on the human continent, planning something unknown, which was a cause for concern for the empire.

An army-wide celebration followed as every soldier let out cheers and cries of triumph as Flags were held high, and the air was filled with a sense of jubilation.

While the army celebrated their victory, Alex waited for the message from guild leader Aster as he had told her to keep watch on the teleportation building.

'It's about time,' Alex thought, looking at the message.

Alex instantly sprinted toward the big tent in the distance, making the surrounding players and soldiers question what happened.

"There is a Big Problem," Alex said to the guard at the tent's entrance.

The guards didn't question, knowing Alex's status and contribution in the recent clash, and stepped aside, giving him energy, and moments later, he barged into a tent at the center filled with every individual representing a power.

The room had a giant roundtable with many recognizable figures seated, and to their side were three demons getting tortured for information, and seeing him barge in, everyone's attention shifted to him.

"Please excuse my intrusion, But we have a big problem,"

"The teleportation to the Capital city of Stormward, Siniawis, and Quivira is blocked, and so is the communication. If I have to make a wild guess, it is the work of the Demons," Alex said.

None questioned Alex but swiftly took out teleportation scrolls and communication slips, and moments later, everyone had the answer filling their eyes with terror as they understood the gravity of the situation.

"Genrel Roland, Genrel Werner, and Genrel Lucrecia," Prince Aphariaen's commanding voice resonated through the room, drawing the attention of the three generals.

"There is no doubt that its the work of the demon fucker,"

"General Roland, take the Third, Fourth, and Seventh Regiment of the Frostguard Legion with the three regiments of Aurora Valkyries and teleport them swiftly to the nearest city to Stormward."

"General Werner, you go to the capital Siniawis and Genrel Lucrecia, you head to the capital Quivira with the fastest regiments under your command."

"Lady Telyssa, Elder Dracas, please send three peak elementalist to each city as backup,"

"Act swiftly, as there is no time," Prince Aphariaen's roared, and like ghosts, one by one, everyone vanished.

"Well done, Kid," An Elder whom Alex knew as a person representing the adventurers guild said before he vanished while Lady Telyssa gave him a slight nod before diapering.

Alex didn't waste any time and teleported to the nearest city to the Stormward while also posting about the demon attack on the three capitals on the forums.
