MMORPG: Crowd Control
176 Overachiever
Although Lei Zhen didn't bother with elves trafficking nor did he plan to buy one for himself, he decided to do something now that he had witnessed it for himself.
Before Howard could complete the task he had assigned, Lei Zhen decided to have a chat with Kate, hoping that they could implement new laws to ban the trafficking of folks that are human-like.
The elves might be a species that live longer than the average human and have their signature long ears, but other than that, they act like humans most of the time.
In addition, intelligent monsters shouldn't be considered to be trafficked either now that they have forged an alliance with the Lizardark.
"I've researched a bit and almost everyone thinks it's normal to do this trafficking. In my opinion, continuing such acts would result in disaster sooner or later. And it's not like our Yors Castle lacked the money and funding to allow such notorious acts." Lei Zhen said to Kate.
"I understand your point, Lei Zhen. But this isn't something that can be done on a whim." Kate sighed softly.
"The nice word would be trafficking, but in a bad word, it can be considered slave trading. It's something that has been done a long time ago and people are used to it. Since even now, we have slaves working for us, and that includes human slaves as well." She added.
Lei Zhen didn't bother speaking further and merely nodded his head.
Her meaning was clear that it would be difficult to push out such a law in Yors Castle.
It was already commendable that Yors Castle had managed to ban human slave trading, and it would probably take a long time to implement another ban on another species trading.
He had already given his opinions regarding this matter, and if Kate refused to listen, then there was nothing else he could do.
Her words are final and going against her decision wouldn't be good for the two of them.
"I'm going to return to my guild headquarters to resolve something," Lei Zhen said and bid farewell, leaving her office without turning back.
Meanwhile, Kate sighed softly and blamed it on the sailors for revealing such a matter to Lei Zhen.
Otherwise, he wouldn't have brought this matter to her and placed her in a difficult spot.
She glanced outside the window and pondered over what to do.
"Since Lei Zhen's attention has been brought to it, then I should do something about it. Although I can't place a law to ban them, I can still make them do such acts in another place hidden from the public." She muttered softly.
As Kate put one more thing on her to-do list, Lei Zhen had already made his way to the guild headquarters.
Although he was going to leave Yors Castle soon, the great thing about constructing a guild headquarters is that he can teleport back at any time when he wants to.
Henceforth, even if he was in the middle of the sea, he could always teleport back to the headquarters to relax.
And the most broken part about this function is that as long as 5 hours did not pass since the teleportation, he could choose to return to his original location.
This was the main reason why Lei Zhen decided to proceed with the construction of a headquarters when he was reading the guideline.
Glancing around again, Lei Zhen opened the guild function to check something.
To his surprise, there were already a ton of new applicants wanting to apply to join the guild.
However, what truly astonished Lei Zhen was the fact that Griselda had already constructed another headquarter in the City of Egroth.
It was a shame that he would not be able to step foot outside because of the restriction, something that Griselda had told him in advance.
According to her words, players had tried to cheat the system in the past, only to no avail because the players that did not go through the city by legitimate means were barred from stepping foot outside the headquarters.
"It's really nice to have someone as efficient as Griselda as the vice leader. Maybe my luck isn't that bad after all." He muttered softly, leaving the applicants for Griselda to approve or decline.
Compared to Griselda, he was still green to Magnolia so regarding the applicants, only she would be able to discern the good from bad.
Time slowly passed by, and as Lei Zhen finished resolving everything that he believed was needed, Howard came to inform him that the crews were ready to set sail.
"Chancellor, I have recruited a bunch of crewmen to work for the shipping mechanism and also stocked enough food that would last at least 3 months," Howard said.
"It's been barely half a day and you already got a whole crew working for the ship?" Lei Zhen raised an eyebrow, clearly in shock by his efficiency.
"That is only natural, Chancellor," Howard said emotionlessly. It was almost as if it was only right that he completed the task this fast.
"Then what about the geography?" Lei Zhen then asked.
What he meant by geography was the passage that one would use when traveling the sea, similar to how an airplane would have an autopilot function that had a set path to fly straight to.
Howard nodded his head.
"I've managed to find a certain someone proficient in reading regarding the water level and sea passage. To determine if the person was trustworthy, I also conducted numerous tests which is why I was kind of delayed in completing the task quicker." He said calmly.
Meanwhile, Lei Zhen twitched his mouth in disbelief when he heard that kind of response.
'This damn overachiever… exactly like the type of students that cry in agony because they scored a 99 and not 100.' He cursed inwardly.
As much as he wanted to smack him for being such a type of person, he couldn't do it because he actually appreciated people like him, clever and knew where the line was.
