Mount and Blade System: Start from Pioneer Lords

#145 - The vengeful little silver dragon

Not far from the hill, soldiers were setting up camp in an orderly manner on the wasteland. Semicircular white tents sprang up on the flat ground like mushrooms after rain.

Thick wooden stakes were hammered into the compacted earth one by one by a group of giants, each three blades tall, wielding huge hammers, enclosing the camp and forming a simple defensive structure, with an exit on each of the four sides blocked by chevaux de frise.

Patrol teams of about five soldiers each moved through the camp like butterflies flitting through flowers, while logistics auxiliaries started fires and cooked meals, the smoke curling and filling the entire camp.

Everything seemed to be proceeding smoothly and in an orderly fashion.

Li Wei, sitting on a small stool on the hill, watched with great interest while munching on sunflower seeds.

To be honest, with the current number of troops at Highcliff Castle, there were no problems fighting small-scale battles, but once the number of people expanded to thousands or even tens of thousands, the problems encountered would spring up like bamboo shoots after rain.

Just how to set up camp and distribute guards was a subject one could study to death.

However, what really surprised Li Wei was the group of soldiers who were more than three blades tall but were clearly humans. To be honest, the first time he saw them at Duke Cullen's mansion, he thought they had gigantism, but now it seemed that this was clearly another branch of humanity.

"I wonder if these big guys are stronger than the trolls."

Li Wei muttered to himself.

Since taking in the trolls and ogres, the former could be regarded as blacksmith apprentices, swinging sledgehammers in the blacksmith shop every day, and the weapon production efficiency of Highcliff Castle had increased visibly.

The latter served as laborers, doing hard labor such as pulling carts and transporting stones.

It could be said that the rapid development of Highcliff Castle was inseparable from the contributions of these two races.

Now, Li Wei was very envious of these natural infrastructure builders, who had almost no shortcomings except for their appetite. He planned to continue to the depths of the wilderness to catch some ogres and trolls to enrich the construction team of Highcliff Castle after the Minotaur incident was resolved.

"They are the Old Northerners, living in the Forgotten Mountains. It is said that they possess a trace of giant blood, and each of them is born tall and immensely powerful."

Li Wei turned his head and saw Beatrice Christina appearing behind him at some point.

She was wrapped in a thick hooded snow-white wool coat, with only a round, rosy face exposed.

The cold of the Northern Lands need not be described. Snowflakes were floating in the sky at any time, and the exhaled heat was visible to the naked eye. The inhabitants of Highcliff Castle had all put on uniform wool coats, wrapping their bodies tightly.

Our lord, however, was still bare-chested, and the snowflakes turned into rain and then evaporated upon landing.

"The species in this world are really diverse. Now even giants can have blood descendants with humans."

The lord shook his head and sighed.

He really couldn't figure out how those giants, who were often more than ten blades tall, had children with humans, resulting in the Northern Old Folk race.

However, there were too many strange things in the old era. Li Wei was not an archaeologist, so he only sighed at this.

"Yes, all kinds of half-orcs, dragon descendants with dragon blood... there are really so many that even the most knowledgeable scholars dare not say that they know all the races in this world like the back of their hand."

Beatrice Christina rubbed her cold hands, her little face flushed.

"Stay in the house on such a cold day. What are you doing out here? Anyway, there's nothing to do these days."

The lord, who was a little bored, continued to watch the soldiers of Whiterun City below, like ants, building the camp bit by bit.

"Isn't it because a certain busy person didn't even wear clothes, and I was afraid he would freeze, so I brought him clothes."

Li Wei turned around.

Beatrice Christina raised a hand-knitted thick cloak in her hand. It couldn't be said to be very delicate, but it had a unique rough feeling of the Northern Lands. At a glance, it could be seen that it was very suitable for a certain lord's style.

"Haha, isn't it because I don't have one? I'm not afraid of the cold, so I simply don't wear it."

Li Wei scratched his head, "Look at that silly Zart, isn't he also running around bare-chested in the cold weather."

"You have the nerve to say that the coat I specially knitted for you to spend the winter was given away just like that."

Speaking of this, Beatrice Christina couldn't help but be a little angry with her hands on her hips.

It was clearly a gift that she had taken time out of her busy schedule to knit stitch by stitch at night by lamplight, but she didn't expect that someone would give it away to someone else without saying a word, and that someone was a woman.

"It wasn't a gift either."

Li Wei got up and put on the cloak, calmly and forcibly explaining, "Miss Leah came here without suitable clothes, so I had to give her my coat to keep her warm. Afterwards, she didn't say she would return it to me, and I was too embarrassed to ask. After all, she is nominally my liege, and she has actually helped me a lot. If I asked for it back, it would make me look very stingy."

"By the way, where are Zart and Mir?"

Li Wei changed the subject.

"I just saw them and Sophia squatting by the river competing in fishing."

In fact, Beatrice Christina wasn't very angry. The lord's explanation made her feel completely at ease.

"That's great. Highcliff Castle doesn't even have surplus food, and they dare to use food to fish?!"

Li Wei looked angry that they were using corn kernels to fish, but in his heart, he cursed that these three didn't call him to fish. You must know that he was a senior fishing enthusiast in his previous life.

"They use captured goblins and kobolds to fish..."

Beatrice Christina added.

"Uh..."

The lord was stunned for a moment, and then looked furious, "It can be seen at a glance that this is the method that Zart, this silly thing, came up with. He used to use goblins to fish for crocodiles, but I didn't expect that he would add kobolds now!"

"Who doesn't know that kobolds are now the capable workers of my Highcliff Castle for cultivating fields and mining?"

"The goblin was indeed Zart's idea, but the kobold was added by Sophia."

Beatrice Christina smiled slightly, "Sophia believes that she was caught by you back then because of that dragon vein kobold. Although that dragon vein kobold is dead, it doesn't prevent her from venting her anger on its clan."

"Okay."

The lord scratched his head. He really didn't expect this little silver dragon to be so vindictive.

He also knew some specific details later.

Originally, after Sophia came to the wilderness and took in these dependents, she ordered them to quietly collect treasures for her.

In this impetuous era, everyone was desperately looking for opportunities to prove themselves.

After she fell into a deep sleep, she didn't expect that the dragon vein kobold would want to make a world-shattering feat for his dragon master.

This led the Dragon Legion to sweep the surrounding tribes and gather more manpower, which eventually provoked Highcliff Castle, and then the lord found the dragon's lair by following the vine.

It can be said that, from Sophia's perspective, this guy was completely a traitor, and it was he who brought the army that caught her.
