Mount and Blade System: Start from Pioneer Lords
#185 - Fairy Queen
Inside the desolate valley, a small palace bearing the marks of history stood, with silver-armored elven messengers flowing in and out like water.
Most of the palace had collapsed, with only one half clearly showing signs of recent repairs, rich with modern style.
The palace's interior was not as lavish as one might imagine, but rather exceptionally simple, containing only a long table covered with gold-threaded lace-edged red cloth.
Several handsome elves in exquisite leather armor were gathered around the long table, in discussion.
The valiant Flynna, clad in silver armor, was also among them.
Aisling Windwhisper was the Elven Queen of the Windwhisper Tribe. This High Elf, whose exact age was unknown, still possessed skin as white and tender as if it could be broken by a breath, and a beauty so exquisite that even the stars in the sky would dim in comparison.
Each strand of her hair, like golden silk, fell in a way that drew the eye.
However, the Aisling Queen now frowned with her beautiful moth-like eyebrows, her heart heavy with worry.
"Your Majesty, Shadowfell has fallen. The treants have suffered heavy losses, and most have retreated back to the Broken City."
The news brought by an elven messenger cast a shadow over everyone present.
Just a month ago, a joint force that appeared out of nowhere attacked the Windwhisper Tribe, catching them completely off guard.
Fortunately, thanks to the natural advantage of the desolate valley, they managed to hold this joint force at Shadowfell, about ten miles away from the tribe.
The desolate valley was located within a mountain valley, and the Windwhisper Tribe was built on the cliffs. A deep ravine stretched across the front, with only a silver bridge, which had stood for countless years, connecting to a canyon in the middle of the opposite hill.
Passing through this canyon led to a city wall about ten blades high, built entirely of marble.
From the city wall, one could see a forest as black as ink in the distant plains. The trees inside were thick, and not a single ray of light could penetrate through the dense canopy.
Of course, some say the reason light couldn't penetrate was because the forest had been enchanted by powerful mages.
But whatever the reason, the reality was that anyone wanting to enter from the outside, unless they directly climbed the cliffs, which were often hundreds of blades high, had to pass through this dark forest.
And this forest was Shadowfell, inhabited by the treant race and various other magical creatures.
The Windwhisper Tribe had been on good terms with them for a long time, so the treant race took the initiative to block the enemy's attack this time.
Logically speaking, even if several thousand troops stormed into this lightless forest, it would be like a pebble thrown into a lake, causing no ripples.
It was the first line of defense upon which the Windwhisper Tribe depended for survival, but now, after holding out for so long, it had finally fallen.
Those dark elven priests were numerous and had gathered many wilderness natives. No matter how elite the tribal warriors were, or how much the treant race helped, it was all in vain.
Falling was indeed only a matter of time.
"Flynna, have you contacted your people?"
Aisling turned her golden eyes to Flynna beside her, with a hint of expectation on her face.
"I just got in touch yesterday, but I only managed to tell them a little about the situation here before the shadow transmission magic failed."
Flynna rested her crossed hands on the table, her face looking a bit unwell.
"I am now 100% certain that these Drow elves definitely have magic that can block communication spells."
"This is why I couldn't contact my soldiers before."
Since arriving here and understanding everything, Flynna had immediately prepared to contact Forgeiro to have him move north, but the shadowstone was as if it had failed until she finally made contact yesterday.
Unfortunately, it broke down after only a few words.
In fact, Flynna had some conjectures she didn't voice. If the other side really had spells or magical equipment that could block communication magic, then why was she able to connect yesterday?
Instead of blocking her all the time?
Any competent commander would not make such a mistake.
There were too many questions here.
However, she didn't say these things, after all, they were already at a disadvantage, and it was best not to affect morale.
"It's good that you made contact. As long as we hold out until your soldiers arrive, the Windwhisper Tribe's crisis will be resolved."
Hearing this, Aisling breathed a sigh of relief.
The other side was roughly estimated to have nearly 30,000 or more fresh troops, and there were dozens of spellcasters.
Looking at the Windwhisper Tribe in comparison.
At most, they could only muster three thousand warriors, and there were only a few spellcasters.
They had been able to hold out until now thanks to the treant race, who mastered tree magic, blocking the enemy in Shadowfell.
But now Shadowfell had fallen, and the last line of defense was the Broken City.
If even this Broken City was breached, then the Windwhisper Tribe would become a backyard for these Drow elves, allowing them to come and go as they pleased.
Woo woo woo~
Just then, a low, melodious horn sounded from afar.
This was the Drow elves' horn of attack.
"They're attacking again."
Aisling was silent.
"Damn elven traitors!"
"A group forsaken by the gods, daring to return to the surface."
"Your Majesty, we'll go first!"
Several elven warriors, who had just sat down and barely warmed their seats, cursed and quickly grabbed their swords and rushed out.
Flynna was not surprised by this. Compared to the Minotaurs who went south, these Drow elves were clearly much more normal.
After all, war was about seizing every second. Unless they really couldn't capture the city and had to resort to a siege, wars were always resolved as quickly as possible.
After all, the longer the time dragged on, the more variables there would be.
"Aisling, I'll go too. Now we can only hold out and wait for Skye and the others to support us. I hope they can get here as soon as possible."
Flynna rose, pressing her sword.
As a master of martial aura, her joining the defense would definitely alleviate some of the pressure.
Although a commander should not stand under a dangerous city, Flynna didn't care about that at a time like this.
"Go together. As a queen, I shouldn't hide in this place, watching my people slaughter each other outside alone."
Aisling rose from her chair, holding a scepter inlaid with white gemstones. The white dress on her body instantly transformed into a gilded armor, perfectly showcasing her tall, curvy figure.
One could guess that this armor was definitely a magical item.
The two of them strode out together.
Aisling mounted a pure white unicorn and sped towards the Broken City, where the sounds of fighting came from, leaving behind only a faint rainbow ribbon.
Flynna also jumped on her magical beast mount and followed.
The elderly, women, and children of the elven race watched their queen rush to the front lines with worried faces.
Now, the young warriors of the Windwhisper Tribe, both male and female, had stepped onto the battlefield, leaving only the elves who were too old or too young to stay behind in the tribe.
