My love game is too abstract

#119 - The first college student in the village

Serena walked out of the simulated environment looking exhausted, only to find Yarrow already waiting there.

"Serena? Didn't you go in before me? Why are you coming out so late?" Yarrow asked, puzzled.

"You, how are you so fast?" Serena also looked at him in surprise.

"I don't know, wasn't it said there were four trials? But I only passed two before coming out."

Yarrow then moved closer to Serena and whispered, "Could it be that there are still two trials waiting for me somewhere?"

After coming out, he had been paying attention to whether there were any scraps of paper falling on the ground, or elderly cleaners suddenly falling ill while passing by.

"I passed all four trials..."

Serena sighed wearily, "Apart from the first trial being inexplicably easy, the following three were quite torturous, especially the last one, helping a child find their lost kitten, while also dealing with the crying and fussing child."

She looked at Yarrow, only to find a blank expression on his face.

"Didn't you encounter them?" Serena asked, puzzled.

"I don't know, I only had a river god trial and a train station old man trial, and then I came out," Yarrow scratched his head.

"You, could it be that you were eliminated?" Serena looked at him worriedly.

"I don't think so, I remember the completion conditions were almost met."

They had no choice but to wait in the lounge, and one by one, examinees emerged from the simulated environment.

When the last examinee appeared, the exit of the simulated environment disappeared.

Then, Vice Principal Hagen's voice echoed in the room:

"It is my pleasure to inform you that the interview has concluded. Successful candidates will have their acceptance letters sent to their residences in one day. Unless there are special circumstances, please do not leave the main city."

"Is it over just like that?"

Yarrow was a little confused, but he saw that the surrounding examinees all had expressions of relief.

He and Serena followed the crowd and walked outside.

They hadn't gone far when someone called out to him from behind.

"You two, please stop."

Looking back, it was Vice Principal Hagen, leaning on his staff.

"Principal, is there something you need?"

Hagen looked at Serena with a smile.

"You, are you Serena Edson? I'd like to congratulate you in advance on becoming a member of our academy."

"Ah? Really? Thank you," Serena said in surprise, she didn't expect Hagen to tell her so directly.

"Haha, your grades, even among all the candidates, are still at the very top. The academy is very happy to be able to admit such an excellent student like you," Hagen said.

"You flatter me too much."

Hearing Hagen say this, Yarrow, knowing that the student quota had been determined, cast an expectant look at Hagen.

"Um, Principal, I..."

Hagen glanced at him, then said with a smile:

"Remember to go to the academy's finance department later to pay the medical expenses for Professor Freg, who was knocked unconscious by you in the simulated environment."

"Ah? Oh, okay, okay."

"Why do I feel like something's not right?"

Back home, Yarrow lay on the sofa, still feeling worried.

"Alright, the assessment is over, there's no point in thinking about it now," Serena comforted him.

Then, she revealed a happy expression: "Although it wasn't unexpected, it's really not easy to actually be admitted to Horologium Academy. Why don't we take a rare break tonight?"

"Are we going to prepare a feast?" Ji Xiaofei said expectantly.

"Yes, tonight I'll personally prepare a table full of delicious food!" Serena rubbed her head.

Yarrow looked at their happy expressions and sighed to himself.

At this moment, he saw Zexia returning from outside.

"Zexia? Did you go out today?" Yarrow asked.

"Yeah, I went out to take care of some things," Zexia said casually.

She saw Yarrow's gloomy expression and asked, "What's wrong with you?"

"The academy assessment results haven't come out yet, and I'm getting a little anxious," Yarrow said.

"Results? Didn't you already..."

Zexia stopped halfway and didn't tell him the truth, but instead chuckled: "What if you don't pass the assessment?"

"If I don't pass... if I don't pass, then I'll go work in a factory," Yarrow rubbed his cheeks.

Zexia walked towards him, stepped on the sofa between his legs with one foot, leaned close to him, and smiled wickedly:

"If you really want to be admitted to the academy, then try to please this king, maybe this king can help you with this."

"You?" Yarrow looked at the silver dragon close at hand and asked tentatively, "Do you know someone at the academy?"

Zexia rolled her eyes slightly: "With this king's prestige, do I need to rely on others?"

"Then never mind, you'd better not interfere with things at school," Yarrow waved his hand.

Hearing him say this, Zexia instead revealed a smug smile: "That's not up to you."

"?"

Yarrow didn't understand what she meant, and before he could ask, the silver dragon had already returned to her room.

The next morning, Yarrow yawned as he came downstairs and saw two large letters on the table.

"Vinia, what are these?"

He asked Vinia, who was floating around in the living room.

"I saw these two letters in the mailbox early this morning and brought them back," Vinia said as she floated over.

"Sent by Horologium Academy, one is addressed to Serena, and one is to me?"

Yarrow looked at the envelope in his hand, with his name written in flowing gold lettering, and his heart began to beat rapidly.

He tore open the envelope, but before he could take out the letter, a beam of light suddenly shot out from the envelope.

Immediately, the surroundings became like a holographic projector, with rainbows, grasslands, flying geese, and running deer appearing. Then, a miniature academy bonsai bloomed from the blossoming flowers, a circle of small stars flew around it, and clusters of fireworks bloomed in the sky. At the same time, light points outlined a line of colorful text:

"Horologium Academy welcomes you!"

Yarrow stared dumbfounded at the light show, which was like a special effects video from a middle-aged and elderly group chat. Although he was happy to be admitted, he couldn't help but complain:

"So, so damn tacky..."

"Congratulations! Yarrow, I knew you could do it, hahaha!"

Hans, the tavern owner, laughed and put his arm around him, affectionately and forcefully patting his back.

"Now you're the first college student in our village! Even I'm benefiting from it, haha!"

On the second day after receiving the admission news, in order to celebrate him and Serena being admitted to Horologium Academy together, they invited the villagers to their small manor for a barbecue party, making the house lively.

"Yarrow! You must study hard! If you become a great mage in the future, my farm will become a popular tourist attraction!" John also came over and hugged him enthusiastically.

"That's for sure! Uncle John! When I achieve something in the future, I will definitely renovate your farm! And get thousands of cattle and sheep!" Yarrow also excitedly raised his glass and clinked it with John.

"With your words, I can rest assured! Haha..."

"Congratulations, Serena," Martha said to Serena with a smile, holding a glass of wine.

"Thank you, Sister Martha," Serena said with a smile.

"Then, you and Yarrow will be classmates from now on, right? I'll have to trouble you to take care of him at school," Martha said.

Then, she leaned in and whispered with a meaningful laugh, "And take good care of him at home too."

Serena was stunned for a moment, then smiled helplessly with a blush.
