#56 - The Sword in the Stone
Arriving at the large pit created by the crashed aircraft, there were still various items left behind by the penguins.
“What strange things, hmm, its function is to…”
Peach Fox curiously picked up the biological evolution gun, intending to use her ability to see what it was used for, but accidentally pulled the trigger.
The biological evolution gun fired a red laser, hitting a small bug flying in the distance.
The small bug suddenly swelled to dozens of times its original size, turning into a ferocious monster, then swallowed a passing wild deer in one bite, and flew away flapping its wings.
Seeing this, Peach Fox was so frightened that she quickly dropped the gun.
“Although they dropped quite a lot, apart from the motorcycle, it doesn’t feel like anything is useful,” Yarrow said, looking at the strange items all over the ground.
He didn't need Peach Fox to check the abilities of these things; he could recognize some of them himself.
But their functions were too strange, only useful for creating a funny atmosphere, and useless for him to use. Moreover, these things were too big to fit into his storage bag.
“Well, the motorcycle still has some fuel left, it should be able to run quite far.” Yarrow checked the motorcycle.
“Peach Fox, get on.”
He got on the motorcycle and said to Peach Fox, who was still fiddling with the cuteness detector.
“Yarrow, can you use this?” Peach Fox jumped on the vehicle and sat behind him.
“It should be no problem, after all, I still have a motorcycle driver's license.” Yarrow said confidently.
With a twist of the throttle, the motorcycle roared and sped off. The sudden acceleration inertia startled Peach Fox, who quickly hugged Yarrow in front of her.
The motorcycle sped along the forest path, climbing up the hillside.
Peach Fox slightly opened her eyes and saw the scenery rushing backwards.
“What a powerful magical artifact! It’s even faster than the Earth Dragon Car!” she exclaimed.
They rode the motorcycle until evening before stopping due to lack of fuel.
Yarrow got off the vehicle and opened the item-finding pocket watch.
The distance between the hour and minute hands on the pocket watch had shortened considerably.
On this item-finding pocket watch, the position indicated by the hour hand represents the direction, the closer the minute hand is to the hour hand, the closer you are to the target point, and there is also a second hand. If the second hand is in the opposite position to the hour hand, it means the target is above you; if they are in the same position, it means it is below.
When they first came in, the hour hand was six digits away from the minute hand, but now it was only three digits.
“It’s soon, we should arrive tomorrow. Let’s rest here tonight.” He put away the pocket watch.
He set up camp, lit a bonfire, and planned to rest there for the night.
Perhaps it was because they were still in the forest, but apart from finding a motorcycle from the penguins, they had no other gains all day.
Night fell, Yarrow sat by the bonfire, drinking hot tea, while looking at the photos he had taken of Serena on his phone.
“Yarrow, doesn’t that magical artifact need some magic power to be replenished?” Peach Fox pointed to the motorcycle parked on the side and asked.
“No need, that thing won’t be used anymore.” Yarrow said.
“You should go to sleep early, I’ll keep watch tonight.” He said to Peach Fox.
Peach Fox nodded, dragged her sleeping bag to Yarrow's side, crawled in, and closed her eyes, hugging her big tail.
The bonfire crackled.
Yarrow browsed the map on his phone. If he calculated the distance, their final destination should be…
“Wolf Fort?” He looked at the place name displayed on the map.
He stroked his chin and pondered.
“Could it be that we are going to retrieve something belonging to that wolf? Indeed, he has quite a few inventions there. If we go there, we might be able to find some good things, but I don’t know if he welcomes us…”
It was late at night, and Yarrow got up and ran into the forest to relieve his bladder.
After fertilizing a large tree, just as he was pulling up his pants, a low call suddenly came from behind him.
“Young man…”
Yarrow was startled. He turned around, raised his glowing firestone to illuminate the area, and saw a sword appearing behind him.
A sword stuck in a stone.
“Are… are you calling me?” Yarrow asked hesitantly.
“Yes.”
The sword actually emitted an old and deep voice.
“I have been waiting for you, young hero.”
“Hero? Me?” Yarrow pointed at himself, somewhat incredulous.
“That’s right. As a sacred sword with infinite power, I have been waiting here for hundreds of years, just to meet you,” the sword in the stone said.
“You are a sacred sword? But why are you in this kind of place? Shouldn’t you be in some extremely dangerous labyrinth, as a reward dropped by the final boss, appearing with a beam of holy light?” Yarrow asked in confusion.
This was just an ordinary small forest, and this sacred sword was sandwiched between two large rocks. Although the sword looked very beautiful, the initial meeting scene was too ordinary.
“No, those are just exaggerated legends. The true sacred sword is this ordinary, stuck on a roadside stone, waiting for the true hero to pull it out and let it unleash its true power!” the sword in the stone said.
“Now, I have waited. From you, I see courage and justice, as well as the virtues of kindness and purity.”
“I… justice, pure, and kind…?” Yarrow recalled that he had just urinated randomly. Wouldn’t this kind of behavior deduct points for a hero?
“Don’t doubt, you are the chosen hero, and my existence is to become your blade, to cut through all obstacles for you, to save this dilapidated world!”
These words really excited Yarrow. Could it be that he was so lucky as to have found a legendary artifact!
He hesitated for a moment, then stepped forward, took a deep breath, and grasped the hilt.
“Yes, that’s right, hold me, let me see the power of the person I am about to serve!” The sword in the stone’s voice became high-pitched.
Yarrow exerted all his strength, holding the hilt with both hands, trying his best to pull it out. For a moment, veins bulged on his muscles.
“Come on! Use force! Let me submit to you!”
“Ahhhhh!”
Yarrow roared, releasing all his strength, his feet sinking into the ground by a third.
Finally, the sword in the stone loosened, and then suddenly he pulled it out, making a clang of sword cry, the cold light of the blade reflecting the moonlight.
At the same time, there was a cry of extreme pleasure:
“Oh~ Yeah~”
Yarrow took a few steps back due to inertia after pulling out the sword in the stone, but when he heard this cry, he clearly felt something was wrong.
“Wait, the voice doesn’t seem to be coming from this sword, but…”
He looked at the two stones.
“It’s the stones that are making the sound…”
The upper half of the stone in front of him drilled out of the soil. It turned out to be a stone man. It was facing away from him, and the two stones that the sword in the stone was inserted into were its…
“Oh~ It’s so good, can you insert it back and pull it out again? I’ve waited so many years and finally got someone to fall for it.” The stone man turned his head and said.
Yarrow was stunned, looking at the silent sword in his hand, and then looking at the stone butt in front of him, his pupils shook violently.
“What the hell did you make me do!!!”
He roared, raised his sword and chopped at it.
The sword struck the stone, making a clang, and at the same time, the stone man let out a comfortable groan.
“Oh~ So good~”
Yarrow was so frightened that he dropped the sword and took a few steps back. He was really disgusted by it. He really wanted to use a Planetary Devastation to blast it into slag, but he was afraid of making it feel good.
The stone man picked up the sword, reinserted it, and then buried his body in the soil to continue waiting for the next victim.
“Damn, encountering such a disgusting thing at night…”
He walked back to the camp from the forest.
Suddenly he was stunned. Next to the camp, a car suddenly appeared, a truck that had been modified in a messy way, tattered but loaded with various luggage, with a rocket booster at the rear, and various signal equipment such as radar antennas added to the roof.
A window was opened outwards at the position of the truck's carriage, and orange lights lit up inside.
A bearded, beer-bellied man with an iron pot on his head leaned out from inside, saw Yarrow, and shouted at him:
“Wai Bi Ba Bo?”
