My love game is too abstract
#75 - Fake Boyfriend (2)
"Only twice?" Mother Lorraine said in surprise. "Aren't you young people supposed to be like dry wood meeting a flame? Could it be that your relationship isn't very good?"
"Mom," Serena pleaded, grabbing her mother's hand and giving her frantic, subtle hints with her eyes.
"Alright, alright, I won't ask," Lorraine said.
"I'm telling you, old woman, you still think you're in the village gossiping with Manny and the others, talking about this with the children. You even said I was shameless," Father Sean couldn't help but say from the side.
"Hey, you old man, what's wrong with me caring about the children?"
"Haha, it's nothing. Auntie's thinking is really open-minded," Yaros said, twitching his lips.
"That's right, I'm not like her dad, who's an old stubborn fool," Lorraine said proudly.
This didn't exactly count as praise.
Afraid that she would say something else without restraint, Yaros took the initiative to bring up another topic:
"Auntie, just now I heard you calling Serena 'Boy Ni'. Is that a nickname?"
"It's not really a nickname, it's my Serena's childhood nickname," Lorraine said with a smile.
"Nickname?"
"That's right, come, come, I even brought photos of her when she was little, take a look."
Lorraine rummaged through her bag, took out a photo, and handed it to Yaros.
As soon as Serena saw the photo, her eyes widened immediately. She reached out to snatch it, but it was too late. Yaros stretched his neck and had already seen it.
In the photo, a group of children were climbing a tree, but there was no familiar figure in the photo.
"Where's Serena?" Yaros asked in confusion.
"Here, here, look, the one holding a wooden stick and poking someone's butt is her," Lorraine pointed to a short-haired boy under the tree.
"This is Serena?" Yaros's eyes widened instantly.
Just by looking at the appearance, he would never connect this child, covered in mud, with short brown hair, standing under the tree, holding a wooden stick and poking the butt of another child on the tree branch, and laughing heartily, with the current Serena.
Only those eyes still had a slight resemblance to her.
This change was even greater than her transformation from a bear to a human.
However, thinking of the content of her previous diary, Yaros suddenly felt that it made some sense.
"Haha, a big change, right? That's why we almost didn't recognize her just now," Lorraine said with a smile.
"Before being taken away by that great mage, she was still a tomboy, running all over the mountains and fields every day, climbing trees to steal bird nests, shaving the neighbor's dog, and putting chili sauce on her grandmother's dentures, causing trouble all day long."
She really was a mischievous child since she was young.
"Serena, so you were so lively when you were little," Yaros said with a smile to her.
Serena glared at him fiercely.
"That's right, Yaros, if you want to know, there are more interesting things about our Ni Boy's childhood, I'll slowly tell you later," Lorraine said with a bright smile.
"Mom, can you stop talking?" Serena said helplessly, covering her face.
"Oh, right, what about that great mage? Your teacher?" Lorraine suddenly remembered and asked.
"Oh, Teacher Qiu Lisa..." Serena quickly said the prepared excuse: "Teacher has gone on a trip to a more distant place, and I don't have any news about her now."
"Is that so? Speaking of which, she really is a good teacher. You are so excellent now, you must thank her properly."
"Ha, haha, I know," Serena said with a forced smile.
She led the elders to the cabin.
"Hey, this place is pretty good, the location is also good, far from the village, quiet, and a small vegetable garden has been opened up. Usually, the vegetables and everything are fresh," Lorraine praised the environment of the cabin.
"You even raised chickens, oh, and you also raised pigs," Sean said.
"Uh, Uncle, those are rabbits."
"Rabbits?"
Sean looked at the gray rabbit lazily basking in the sun by the fence in surprise.
"Goodness, it's fed like a pig."
Walking into the house, Yaros put the local specialties he brought into the kitchen.
"Dad, Mom, come upstairs, we've cleaned up a room for you," Serena said to her parents.
"Why bother with this? We're only staying for one night, we can just make do in the living room."
Lorraine said this, but still followed Serena upstairs.
"Here it is."
Serena carried her parents' luggage in. This was originally Yaros's room, but now it had been cleaned up to entertain the elders.
"It's quite tidy," Lorraine walked in.
"Serena, your house has quite a few rooms. If they're empty, you might as well rent them all out," Sean said.
"Uh, this is, is because friends occasionally come to stay..." Serena stammered, explaining.
Lorraine slapped her husband hard.
"Chattermouth, why would a young couple want others to disturb their time alone?"
Then she pulled her daughter over and gossiped: "Come, come, tell Mom in detail, how did you and Yaros meet?"
"Well, we were originally travel companions, and we fell in love after being together for a long time..." Serena said softly.
"Details, ah, you say, what are you shy about in front of Mom? Tell me in detail, did you chase him first, or did he chase you first?" Lorraine asked impatiently.
"Old woman, you just know how to gossip all day long..." Sean muttered from the side.
"Mom! That, it's getting late, we still have to prepare dinner, I have to go downstairs."
Serena really couldn't answer, so she could only change the subject and ran downstairs quickly.
"This child, her skin has become so thin when she grew up," Lorraine said, shaking her head.
Serena escaped to the kitchen and sighed as she came to Yaros's side.
"What's wrong? Is the situation not right?"
Yaros was taking out the ingredients for dinner.
"Mom, she asked about the details of our relationship, and I can't answer," Serena said with a worried look.
Yaros also realized this.
"We didn't even prepare a confession in advance."
Serena grabbed him and was about to say something when the elders came down from upstairs.
"Serena, we're going to help take care of your vegetable garden," Lorraine said to them.
"No need to trouble you, Uncle and Auntie," Yaros said quickly.
"It's nothing, we still do farm work every day when we're at home."
After the elders left, Serena said to Yaros again: "In a while, if my mom asks about the details of our relationship, let me do all the talking, you just cooperate."
"Okay, I got it."
After a pause, Yaros leaned closer to her and asked in a low voice:
"By the way, when are you going to make up for that twice-a-week *life* you mentioned?"
Serena was stunned, staring blankly at Yaros.
"Just kidding," Yaros said, "Did you take it seriously?"
"Who would take it seriously! Of course I know it's a joke!" Serena said with a face full of embarrassment.
