My OP Minion System in the Apocalypse
257 Excursion
It had been some time since my minions left and I was waiting with bated breath for any news from them. Despite my fears, I had sent them out on a mission to gauge the strength of our enemy and see what kind of damage they could inflict. I was certain that they wouldn't win the battle, but I was curious nonetheless. The intelligence variant had assured me that there was enough time before the enemy arrived, so I clung to the hope that I might find some useful information that could help me tackle them in the future.
I decided to retreat to my house within the castle, surrounded by high stone walls and fortified towers. The enemy settlement was located a mere four hours away, but I couldn't fathom why they weren't coming straight for me. I pondered the possibility that they already knew my location through the information system, a powerful resource that could provide all sorts of information for a small price.
The thought plagued me, why hadn't they attacked me directly and killed me? If they already knew where I was hiding and the kind of soldiers I had at my disposal, why were they not storming the castle gates and putting an end to my reign? Fear began to grip me as I realized that they were picking off my army one by one. My goal was to create 10,000 new warriors, a formidable force capable of taking down the enemy instantly or at least putting up a good fight. I would decide on my next strategy once the outcome of this battle was clear.
I found myself lying on my bed, surrounded by plush velvet curtains and a soft mattress, anxiously waiting for any news from the intelligence variants. Time, which usually passed quickly, seemed to crawl by, each minute feeling like an eternity. I called the manager minion several times to inquire about the report, but each time I was met with silence. The waiting was torture, and my mind raced with possibilities and scenarios, each one more unsettling than the last.
It was an evening of unease as the intelligence agents returned from their mission to spy on the battle. Their faces were etched with terror, and even the minions, who were usually unfazed by anything, were visibly shaken. Noah, the mastermind behind this terror, had created monsters that everyone feared. The power of the Oasis was supposed to be used for gathering resources, but instead, it had been harnessed to create something even more fearsome. The warriors that fought for Noah were not warriors at all, but monsters that wreaked havoc and destruction wherever they went. I had heard of these creatures before, but the reality of facing them was far worse than anything I could have imagined. It was like standing at the gates of hell, waiting for the inferno to consume me.
The minions stood before me, silent and obedient. I asked the first one about the battle and noticed that only four of the six that I had sent had returned. Nevertheless, I was eager to hear the report of the battle.
"Tell me everything you saw, did you see anything that could help us in battle?" I asked the minions, trying to keep my voice steady.
The first one stepped forward and began to speak, "My lord, the battle was nothing short of chaotic. Our minions were no match for the enemy. They were as big and powerful as the brute force minions, but there was one crucial difference. The enemy warriors were relentless, attacking without thought or strategy. They fought like wild animals, overpowering our minions with ease. The second problem we face is the sheer number of enemy forces. They come in swarms and can obliterate any opposition in mere seconds."
I listened to the report, a sense of dread building inside me. The enemy was more formidable than I had anticipated, and I feared that our forces would be unable to defeat them. Nevertheless, I had to come up with a plan, or all would be lost.
The second speaker, who was a seasoned warrior, spoke up, "Yes, my lord, if we can level the playing field in terms of numbers, we might have a chance to emerge victorious in the battle. Our foes may fight like savage beasts, but our warriors possess a wide array of skills and tactics. The only advantage that the enemy holds over our minions is the sheer number of their troops. By balancing the numbers, we can defeat them with ease."
"I'd like to hear more about the battle," I said, intrigued. "What type of battle was it and how did my minions fare?" Despite being intimidated by the enemy's strength, I was confident in my minions' abilities. I had made sacrifices, but it was for the greater good of the city.
"The battle was a brutal affair," the warrior replied. "Our minions fought valiantly and managed to inflict damage, but unfortunately, it was not enough to turn the tide. The archers were relentless, raining arrows upon the enemy, but their skin was as tough as steel armor, making it difficult to penetrate. The archers then adapted their strategy and aimed for the enemy's weak points, such as the eyes, mouth, and neck.
This tactic proved to be effective, as they were able to take down a significant number of enemies. The enemy was advancing towards the castle at a lightning-fast pace, and their battle cries were enough to send shivers down the spine of the bravest warrior. The enemy had brought siege machines with them, and the siege tower made it easy for them to scale the walls and attack our people. The archers were no match for the enemy and 110 brave souls fell in battle. The brute force minions opened the castle gates and engaged the enemy in hand-to-hand combat, but despite their bravery, the enemy's superior numbers proved to be too much to handle."
