Mysterious journey
Chapter 23 Talent 1
After coming out of the martial arts hall, several brothers ate and drank. Garen was so drunk that he did not dare to go back for the time being, for fear that his family would find out that he was drinking underage.
But when several senior brothers and sisters took turns bombing him, he didn't dare not give him face. Any one of those people can abuse him with one hand.
After making an appointment to hold an apprenticeship banquet next week, Jia Long finally managed to run out of the hotel. I wandered around the city streets for a while in the evening to sober up from the alcohol.
He walked very top-heavy and walked around on the sidewalk for a long time. Unknowingly, he arrived at Burnington Street again.
At night, the moonlight shines down like a white gauze, making the whole street look white.
On the floors on both sides, there were still lights faintly shining through the windows of some residents, and figures swayed from time to time in the pale yellow halo. You can also hear the subtle sound of piano playing, the rhythm is brisk, but still a bit jerky.
Garen walked along the right side of the street, with gusts of cold wind blowing on his face, and his groggy mind became slightly clearer.
A black two-horse carriage jingled over on the road ahead. The lantern hanging on the carriage was swaying, and the pale yellow light could only vaguely illuminate the outline of the driver.
The car passed Garen and soon turned the corner and disappeared. Only the occasional snort of the horses could be heard.
Garon tightened his collar and quickened his pace.
Walking to the end of the street, he stood in front of the Dolphin Antique Shop. Originally, he was just planning to sober up and stop by to take a look. I didn’t expect there to be lights in the antique store.
Walking to the door, he stretched out his hand and knocked hard on the door.
"Old man! Open the door!"
A creak.
A round opening opened above the iron door, revealing the old man's smiling head, with his sparse white hair in a mess.
"It's your kid." He sniffed, as if he could smell the smell of alcohol, "You go drinking at such a young age!"
The old man quickly opened the door and let Garen in.
"Old man, are you doing anything to sober up?" Garen felt top-heavy and light when he walked. He seemed to be walking in a straight line, but his body always tilted to one side no matter how he walked.
"This is an antique store, not a grocery store." The old man gloated and sat down, shaking his head and glaring at Garen. "It's because you're afraid that you'll be discovered at home when you go back, so you wander around outside to sober up, right?"
"How do you know?" Garen sat on a red cloth stool, threw the fake on the side of the table, and began to gently rub his temples.
"I can tell by looking at you like this. I was planning to go back, but I didn't expect you to come just in time, so I'll just stay a little longer. The market is not very safe at night these days, so be careful not to go shopping too late."
"I know, I know, don't worry." Gallon swallowed, "Old man, do you have water here?"
"Go and empty the back room yourself, I won't bother with you." Old Man Geguo sat at the table and continued to write something.
Garen stood up and staggered to the only back room, fumbled for a glass of water and drank it. As soon as the cold water entered my stomach, I immediately felt better again.
Returning to the main room, he pulled over a chair and sat down at the old man's table.
Taking advantage of the drunkenness, Garen asked what he wanted to ask the most.
"Old man, where is the book you showed me last time? Can you show me more of it?"
Old Man Geguo bit the feather behind his pen and looked like he didn't hear anything.
"I said old man, did you hear me?"
"I heard you! What are you arguing about?" Old Man Geguo waved his hand, "It's useless to read that book to you. Without that talent, you will read it no matter how many times and the result will be the same."
"Who said that? I didn't read it carefully last time." Garon said nonsensically, "If you give it to me this time, I will definitely read it carefully!"
"You are good at picking things. Do you know how much that book is worth in the market? If I break it, you won't be able to afford it in your next life." The old man curled his lips.
"Is that called appreciation? I just appreciate it! I didn't ask you to give it to me." Garen was speechless. Now he has to come over and rub elbows with the old man every day. Either I want to read that book again, or I want the old man to come up with something similar again.
"Besides, what talents are needed to read this book?"
“No talent means no talent.”
"You don't understand." The old man looked at the table and nodded, seeming very satisfied with his handwriting. "Mr. Mercury's theft case has some clues."
"What eyebrows?"
"They are currently investigating a new case on the outskirts of the city. They found clues that the items stolen from my store should still be in the city. They are currently investigating. Maybe most of them will be recovered in a while."
The old man put away the pen and paper on the table and closed the ink bottle. He glanced at Garen, "Also, don't worry about that book. I sent it to a friend a while ago, and it's not with me now."
"Then do you have anything similar? I'm interested in things like medals and that book."
"You said that kind of thing has trouble behind it?" the old man said in surprise.
"Trouble?" Garen was slightly stunned.
"The owners of the Bronze Cross have been prodigal for several generations, and everyone's wealth has been ruined. The book is similar. They are all masters who harmed people." The old man seemed a little sad and said with emotion.
"Is there anything troublesome behind you?"
Garen mused.
After coming out of the antique store, he sobered up a little and kept thinking about this issue.
"If only things with their own troubled stories can have potential," he recalled the previous Ring of Doom, "then what the hell is the potential I absorbed from it?"
Unknowingly, he had reached the relatively remote road home. There were sparse houses on both sides, and he could clearly see the black and green mountain walls and open woods behind the houses.
"It's actually this way."
He was suddenly startled, looked around, and suddenly discovered that it was the road where he accidentally killed someone for the first time.
The gray-white street was a little uneven, and a pool of dark red blood on the ground in front was still clearly visible. I wonder if it was left by his previous murder. There was no one around, only the headlights of a white car slowly moving away.
Garen hurriedly walked past the pool of blood. After so long, the traces there had dried completely, and some slender black hairs were still condensed inside.
The cold wind blew into his neck, and he suddenly felt a little chilly.
He took a few steps forward. A person suddenly emerged from the entrance of an alley on the left side in front and ran towards him in a hurry.
This man was wearing a black trench coat and a round hat, and the footsteps of his boots were crisp and rapid.
Garen turned slightly to make way for the opponent to pass.
Instead, the man staggered and fell directly towards him as if he was drunk.
"Be careful." Garen stretched out his hand to support him, and was suddenly startled. I vaguely saw a bit of silver light stabbing towards my lower abdomen, and then I felt a pain in my stomach, as if I had been bitten by a mosquito.
No sense of danger, no creepiness or scares. Garen was stunned for a moment, then his heart became cold, and he immediately reacted. He hugged the person with his arms and squeezed hard.
"Who sent you?"
Amidst a series of cracking sounds, the man's limp body leaned against Garen, unable to move at all. His arms and some of his ribs were crushed.
But the strange thing is that this guy still opened his arms and hugged him without replying.
Garen supported him and was about to ask questions when he suddenly saw a figure at the entrance of the alley in the distance, raising his hand and pointing something at him.
Suddenly, a chill rushed from the soles of my feet to my forehead, and an unprecedented sense of panic suddenly emerged.
Garen had a tingling feeling as if the tip of the knife was hanging on the tip of his nose, so close.
He could roughly see it clearly through the moonlight. The man's eyes were reddish, and he was holding a black pistol.
boom!
A crisp sound.
At the same time as there was a flash of fire on the opposite side, Garen only felt a hot little thing hit his chest accurately, and the person he was supporting shuddered, and it was obvious that he was also hit by a gunshot.
My chest was burning, as if my skin had been scratched.
"Even the gun came out!!" Garen didn't have time to think too much, he pushed the man away and jumped to the left, imitating the action in movies and TV series. Two bangs, just dodging two bullets.
With his newly added agility attribute, his reaction and body speed are faster than those of his opponent.
The bullet just missed hitting his calf, hitting two yellow sparks on the ground.
With his arms protecting his face, Garen didn't feel much fear in his heart, but a mixture of excitement and surprise.
He could feel that after the bullet penetrated a human body, it had no lethality when it hit him again. It just broke and was lodged in the muscle. This allowed him to roughly estimate the damage the bullet would do to him. As long as he didn't hit his vitals at close range, he wouldn't die on the spot.
As a person who had already died once, Garen had no fear of death at all. He felt that his heart was beating wildly, fast and heavy. All the strength of the body burst out in an instant.
After three shots, he protected his face with his hands and rushed towards the man.
The man also thought that the first shot had hit the target, and the next two shots were supplementary. The opponent should have no strength. I didn't expect it to have such strong explosive power.
The distance between the two was not far, only a dozen steps, and three shots missed. Garen rushed over fiercely, and the man suddenly panicked, and raised his hand to continue shooting.
Snapped!
Garon slapped his hand, and the pistol rolled far away, spinning and sliding to the middle of the road, more than twenty meters away.
Garen grabbed the man's neck with one hand and punched the man in the abdomen with the other hand. Suddenly a black shadow flashed across his arm and scratched his arm.
Garen only felt a pain in his right hand. Looking carefully, he saw that the other party was holding a black and blue dagger in his hand. The blue luster on it looked a bit weird under the moonlight.
He looked at the wound on his right hand. The wound on the outside of his forearm had turned slightly blue.
"Toxic!!" A chill suddenly came out of my heart.
He didn't know what kind of weapon the other person was holding, but it could scratch his skin easily. I don’t know what kind of poison was used on the dagger, but the itchy feeling on the wound is definitely not an ordinary poison.
Jialong suddenly thought of his younger sister Ying'er who was still reviewing her lessons at home, and the old man Geguo who was always being rude in the antique shop, and how he had finally found a way to truly learn martial arts in his life.
He didn't want to die. He had just traveled through time and he had just integrated into the life here. Don't want to die! It’s not easy to live again!
"I want to die! You don't want to live either!!" He roared violently, rushed forward, grabbed the man's hand holding the dagger, and swung it back.
With a sneer, the man was slashed hard on his chest, and he suddenly exclaimed. The voice turned out to be a woman.
