Mystery: Chaos Path

#111 - The special effects of Shadow of Time

In the short minute just now, Rosell didn't go to see any old friends. He simply came to the nearest library with a clear goal, and quickly browsed books related to history using the power of the Emperor of Knowledge, confirming one thing: this really is the world more than a hundred years later, and that strange fellow who summoned him didn't deceive him.

And he, Rosell Gustav, has been dead for more than 100 years, and has long become a figure in history textbooks, even as a negative example.

To be honest, the matter of death didn't surprise Rosell too much. After all, Rosell already had the idea of jumping to the Black Emperor pathway, using it to get rid of the Outer Gods' pollution, while also using the Black Emperor's resurrection characteristic to eliminate other non-adjacent characteristics, escape the fate of being half-mad, and restore his sanity to become a completely clean Sequence 0, it's just that he hasn't made up his mind yet.

So, his future death is not very surprising to Rosell.

But the key issue is that, theoretically, he should have been resurrected long ago. Why hasn't he been resurrected in this era?

Rosell had a bad feeling in his heart, knowing that there might have been some major changes in his resurrection plan. So, he tried hard to sense himself in this era, and his expression became increasingly ugly.

"It seems you've confirmed that this is the future world." Lorne glanced at Rosell and guessed what he was thinking, so Lorne smiled and gestured to the sofa next to him, saying, "Sit down, Mr. Rosell, we can have a good chat next."

Rosell didn't refuse Lorne's suggestion and sat directly on the sofa before looking at Lorne and asking, "Are you the Lord of the Mysteries?"

"Pfft—" Lorne couldn't help but laugh. He looked at Rosell and said, "Why would you think that?"

"Historical projection is an extraordinary ability of the Seer pathway, and as far as I know, the Lord of the Mysteries is also known as the King of Space-Time, so I originally thought that you, who projected the past consciousness into the historical projection, would be the Lord of the Mysteries, but now it seems that's not the case."

Rosell spoke logically. You could say he was a scoundrel, but as the Emperor of Knowledge, Rosell was indeed worthy of being called erudite.

"Unfortunately, the Lord of the Mysteries can't do this." Lorne smiled and looked at Rosell, saying, "This is just my unique skill. You can call it Shadow of Time."

Shadow of Time… Rosell firmly remembered this name before asking again, "Since you're not the Lord of the Mysteries, then who exactly are you?"

"You can call me Lucifer. As for my identity, let's just say I'm a fellow countryman of yours." Lorne introduced himself with a smile.

"Lucifer… Are you cosplaying that Morning Star?" Rosell knew it was a pseudonym as soon as he heard it, and couldn't help but roll his eyes. He wasn't too surprised by Lorne's identity as a fellow countryman, but it was clear that after the guess was confirmed, Rosell visibly relaxed a lot.

He then looked up at the window and said, "Since you have such a magical ability, I think the truth of time travel is no secret to you."

"It's indeed no secret to me." Lorne didn't deny it. He also looked up at the window and said, "I know this is Earth, the future tens of millions of years later."

"Then do you know about those things?" Rosell winked.

"Are you referring to the Outer Gods? I do know of their existence. In fact, I've already dealt with them, more than once."

Lorne naturally understood what Rosell was referring to. He smiled and said, "I've recently been rescuing Mr. Door, helping him get rid of the pollution from the Depraved Mother Goddess."

Rosell's gaze instantly sharpened as he looked at Lorne and said, "You can remove the pollution from the Outer Gods?"

"Of course, Mr. Rosell, I can indeed remove the pollution from the Outer Gods. I'm the only one who can do it in this era." Lorne nodded with a smile, then looked at Rosell and said:

"That's also why I summoned you today, Mr. Rosell. I think you should have sensed what kind of situation you are in this era."

Rosell's expression was ugly. He pursed his lips and said, "I originally thought that becoming a Sequence 0 would allow me to get rid of the pollution from the Mother Goddess after one death. Now it seems I was too naive. I'm still in a state of pollution in this era, right?"

"To be more precise, you're stuck in an intermediate state between life and death. You haven't gotten rid of the Outer Gods' pollution. In fact, you can still be resurrected as the Black Emperor, but after resurrection, you will become a god completely controlled by the Outer Gods." Lorne said unhurriedly.

"That's really f***ing hell!" Rosell couldn't help but curse, then looked at Lorne and said, "Name your price, fellow countryman. What will it take for you to be willing to help me?"

"You believe me so easily?" Lorne didn't rush to name a price, just smiled.

"What's there not to believe? My current state is the best proof. To be honest, I haven't been this clear-headed in a long time. Because of that damn pollution, I'm often in an unconscious state. But your magical power not only helps me suppress the pollution in my body, but even suppresses the consciousness of the Primordial One's revival. You can even do this, what reason do I have not to believe you?"

As Rosell said this, there was a sense of ease between his brows and eyes that had been suppressed for a long time and finally released. This was not surprising. Whether it was fighting against the Primordial consciousness or fighting against the polluted consciousness in his body, neither was easy. Now that these existences have been suppressed, although there is still divinity that needs to be balanced, it is simply too easy for Rosell.

No mistake, one head, one first, one inside, one appearance, one is in, one one sees!

Huh? Shadow of Time also has this function?

Lorne naturally understood the meaning of Rosell's words. He glanced at Rosell without showing any emotion, feeling that a question he had always had was finally answered.

Lorne had previously felt that whether it was the Ancient Sun God he summoned or Mr. Door, weren't they all too human? Logically speaking, whether it was the half-Old One state of the Sun God or Mr. Door, who had already merged into one and was polluted by the Outer Gods, their state should be worse, but in fact, they were very human and their emotions were very full.

Now it seems that the reason for this is probably because the Shadow of Time suppresses the consciousness that does not belong to the summoner's main body, such as the revived Primordial, the Mysterious consciousness, or the polluted consciousness, or simply only summons the consciousness belonging to the summoner's main body, without bringing these fragments.

Lorne came to a conclusion in his heart, but he wasn't too surprised. After all, what the Shadow of Time summons is originally the will of the summoner. The Primordial will, for example, does not belong to the scope of the summoned, and his ability can summon Yog, which shows how high its level is, so it's not surprising that it can suppress those messy things.
