Mystery: Chaos Path
#58 - "You're losing control."
"Ah?" Leonard clearly hadn't considered this answer and was momentarily stunned.
"My Lord has granted me a pair of eyes that can see through fate, and your destiny…" Roland paused here, deliberately building suspense before continuing under Leonard's curious gaze, "…is closely linked to the club. You were always meant to be a member of the club."
This was naturally a lie. How could Leonard's fate be connected to the Joker Club, which was currently just a shell of an organization? But that didn't matter; Roland thought that even if there wasn't a connection now, he could create one later.
Because of this, Roland spoke without the slightest guilt.
"Ah?"
Leonard suspected that Roland was trying to deceive him, but looking into the other's earnest eyes, he couldn't help but feel a little swayed.
Could it be that he was truly destined to join this Joker Club?
No, impossible! Absolutely impossible!
Leonard shook his head violently, but ultimately didn't directly refuse, only saying, "This is a big decision. I need to think about it. I'll give you an answer after I've considered it."
"I look forward to it," Roland said with a smile, not at all surprised.
With the most important goal achieved, Roland chatted with Palles and Leonard for a few more minutes before choosing to take his leave.
This time, he didn't go anywhere else but honestly returned home.
"Let me see, well, tomorrow does indeed present a good opportunity…" Roland flipped through the calendar, raising an eyebrow when he saw the date August 16th.
"Perhaps, I should lay the groundwork for Lucifer's official debut."
Thinking this, Roland opened a notebook, and on one page, a line of large characters was written: A Brief Biography of Lucifer.
From this, it was clear that Roland was truly a professional when it came to writing character settings.
After thinking for a few seconds, Roland wrote a few new lines on that page:
"Occasionally, XX would also recall the days before his transmigration. Back then, he wasn't called Lucifer, nor had he fallen into the wretched state he was in now.
So perhaps it was out of a twisted sense of humor, but after occasionally saving someone, if they asked for his name, he would tell them he was called Lucifel.
Very fitting, isn't it?"
…
For Klein, today was a day worth celebrating because he had finally digested the Seer potion and was preparing to make a few preparations before submitting a special application to the captain for advancement to Sequence 8—anyway, thanks to the various incidents around him, Klein had already accumulated enough merits.
The only thing that troubled Klein slightly was that his speed of earning money couldn't keep up with his spending. After arriving at the underground market, there were clearly many things he wanted, but alas, his wallet was empty, so he could only choose to give up.
"I can only save up slowly…" Klein thought of Miss Justice of the Tarot Club, who spent money like water, and couldn't help but feel a trace of envy. He greeted Old Neil, who had come to the underground black market with him. After the two chatted for a while, they saw the owner of the Evil Dragon Bar walk in with a confused yet relieved expression.
The owner of the Evil Dragon Bar was also a member of the official Extraordinary, now responsible for overseeing this underground black market.
"What happened?" Old Neil couldn't help but ask, seeing his expression.
"A member of the Punisher team nearby almost lost control," the owner of the Evil Dragon Bar said, his expression very relieved. "It was just a little bit away. Thanks to a mysterious guy who saved him. Although I've always hated wild Beyonders, but… I have to say, this guy did a great job."
As soon as these words came out, Old Neil and Klein were both shocked. After all, anything involving loss of control was no small matter, and the two immediately asked about the specific situation.
The owner of the Evil Dragon Bar didn't hide anything and quickly explained the matter—just now, a member of the Punisher team nearby had suddenly been on the verge of losing control, just a little bit away from becoming an irreversible Awakened.
But just before the other party completely fell into the abyss, a mysterious guy appeared. No one knew what he did. It seemed he just said a sentence, and the Punisher who was about to lose control stopped losing control and returned to normal.
"Sounds very powerful," Klein couldn't help but sigh. Although theoretically, as long as they hadn't completely lost control, they could be saved, it didn't mean that it was easy to save someone on the verge of losing control. Otherwise, there wouldn't be so many out-of-control Beyonders in this world.
"What did that guy look like? This kind of style might be someone from other churches, not like a member of some evil secret organization," Old Neil also said with some emotion, and asked curiously.
"That guy is very good-looking, with hair like the night and golden eyes. As for age, probably in his early 30s, his dress is very much like those knowledgeable scholars…" the owner of the Evil Dragon Bar said, recalling.
"I don't have anyone in my memory who fits this description," Old Neil shook his head after recalling for a while.
"I don't remember such a person either," the owner of the Evil Dragon Bar wasn't surprised, only saying, "I will report this matter to the higher-ups of the church, maybe the higher-ups know who the other party is."
Old Neil and Klein didn't express any opinions on this.
Without error, one first one hair, one inside one appearance one in one look!
The two then chatted with the owner of the Evil Dragon Bar for a few more minutes and prepared to browse this underground black market again. Although their wallets were very shy, this obviously didn't prevent them from window shopping.
Klein quickly arrived at a stall with Old Neil. The stall was filled with many materials. Although most of them were relatively ordinary, there were a few real spiritual materials, the rarer kind.
Klein couldn't help but identify these materials, matching them one by one with the information he had read. The corner of his eye saw a figure walking over.
Klein subconsciously stepped aside to make way for the other party. When his gaze fell on the other person, he suddenly froze for a moment.
Because it was a man in his early thirties, with extremely handsome features, black hair, and beautiful golden eyes.
Klein almost subconsciously linked the other party to the mysterious person described by the owner of the Evil Dragon Bar who had stopped the Punisher team member from losing control.
Wouldn't it be such a coincidence? Uh, it doesn't seem strange to happen to me… Klein unexpectedly didn't have too many surprised emotions, but he didn't immediately look away because of it.
Perhaps his gaze was too noticeable, the man looked towards him. The next second, the other party seemed to see something interesting and raised an eyebrow.
"Interesting!"
The other party stopped. He pushed up his gold-rimmed glasses, and his gaze then fell on Old Neil next to Klein. He suddenly smiled, his voice very light, but like a muffled thunderclap, it exploded in Klein's ears:
"You are about to lose control."
