Mystery: I Married the Queen of Mystery
#54 - Mutation of species in the "God-forsaken Land"
Upon hearing the reminder about the "world," Derrick, the "Sun," was slightly stunned. From childhood, he had grown up eating food made from ground black-faced grass flour. Now, someone was suddenly telling him that black-faced grass was not a normal plant!
This was akin to someone telling Audrey, the "Justice," that wheat was a poisonous weed.
Audys, the "Hermit," asked Derrick, "Where does black-faced grass grow?"
"On the city walls, on the rooftops, and on the streets," Derrick replied.
Fors, the "Magician," thought to herself: It just doesn't grow in the fields. Hmm... this is indeed somewhat abnormal.
Audys further inquired, "Is there any outside the city?"
"No."
"Have similar plants been discovered around the city?"
"No."
"Then there's no problem. Feel free to continue eating it," Audys said definitively.
Audrey, the "Justice," asked before Derrick could, "Mr. Hermit, how did you arrive at this conclusion?"
Audys said, "The growth range of black-faced grass is very similar to the descriptions of high-level Sealed Artifacts."
He paused and smiled. "I haven't seen high-level Sealed Artifacts, but I've heard people mention some. Some of these Sealed Artifacts have effects throughout the entire city.
"It seems that the appearance of black-faced grass is an effect of some Sealed Artifact."
Derrick opened his mouth, something he had never considered.
Klien, the "Fool" behind the gray fog, sighed, "The 'Hermit' is very knowledgeable."
He then thought that Sealed Artifacts must have negative effects. He was about to manipulate the "World" to remind him, but after thinking about it, he didn't. After all, "Little Sun" only had that one kind of food. Since no mutations or deformities had occurred, it seemed acceptable even if there were some negative effects.
Audrey was somewhat gratified: The new member had already integrated into the Tarot Club and was helping other members solve problems with his erudition.
At this moment, Fors only had one thought in her mind: How impressive.
At the same time, she thought of a question: "Mr. Hermit, why is the effective range of those high-level Sealed Artifacts 'a city'?"
She felt that her question was not accurate enough, so she changed her wording: "Backlund and Pritz Harbor in the south are both cities, but their area and population are not on the same scale at all.
"Can the effect of a high-level Sealed Artifact cover Pritz Harbor and Backlund?"
Audys smiled and said, "This question involves the issue of 'conceptualization.' It is said that high-level Sealed Artifacts all possess a certain conceptual definition.
"Therefore, their effective range is also a concept such as 'a city' or 'a country.'"
"Well, if you want to know more detailed information, I can help you find out, but that information is very high-level and requires a transaction."
"No need," Fors said with a smile. Although the "Hermit's" explanation made her even more curious, she was currently saving money to buy the main materials for her advancement and did not have extra pounds to satisfy her curiosity.
Klien thought of the concept of "Uniqueness." Because the "Black Emperor" card gave him some understanding of this concept, he really wanted to know the details, but because this matter was not urgent, he was unwilling to pay pounds.
Alger also realized that the "conceptualization" mentioned by the "Hermit" must be very high-end Extraordinary intelligence, but he planned to trade when he needed it.
Audys then said to Derrick, who was relieved, "I have channels to learn more about Amon's information. Would you like to continue trading with me?"
"Yes!" Derrick said immediately, "But... but what should I trade with? The 'Beacon Light' potion formula?"
"I need you to catch a fish from the swamp and give me a small bucket of mud from the swamp," Audys said. "Also, catch a few blood-sucking bugs; give me a plant with barbs and toxins on the vines, and a bucket of soil; if it's convenient, give me a few black-faced grass."
The other members were all stunned, not expecting the "Hermit" to want these things.
Derrick said, "That, Mr. Hermit, these things are not valuable and are not equivalent to the value of your intelligence."
"Perhaps they have no value in the 'Land Abandoned by God,'" Audys said with a smile.
Audrey asked curiously, "Mr. Hermit, can you tell us why you need these things?"
Audys replied, "For experiments."
Klien manipulated the "World" to ask, "Do you want to compare the species of the 'Land Abandoned by God' with the species of our world to see what is different?"
"Yes," Audys replied.
Alger also joined the topic: "Is there any significance to this?"
"This has to start with one of my previous studies," Audys said without concealment: "In the past few years, one of my studies found that the spirituality contained in normal human bodies has an activity similar to self-circulation within the human body..."
No mistake, one first, one hair, one inside, one content, one look!
Klien behind the gray fog thought to himself: This is a bit like the theory of meridian channels in traditional Chinese medicine!
Audys continued to narrate: "Normally, this cycle will gradually decline, and eventually the spirituality in the body will overflow, corresponding to the process of a person aging or dying.
"But many external forces will affect this cycle. For example, some Extraordinary contamination will break this cycle, causing the spirituality to emit more complex movement trajectories, thereby affecting the spiritual body, spirit, and body.
"Therefore, Extraordinary contamination will cause this person to become morbid in the slightest, and go crazy or lose control in the worst case. The cycle of spirituality is completely disordered in an instant, turning into a monster."
Everyone was stunned. This theory was the first time they had heard of it.
Klien thought of the relevant content in the "Book of Secrets": "The 'Hermit's' research on spirituality seems to be more profound than the Witch King's.
"The plants and animals in the 'Land Abandoned by God' have obviously undergone certain mutations," Audys continued. "For me, this is a very good research sample."
Everyone nodded, understanding Audys's purpose.
Fors sighed: This is the first time I have encountered an Extraordinary scholar. It is said that there is such a profession in the orthodox churches, but the "Hermit" does not seem to be a person from the orthodox churches.
Audrey was also very curious: "Mr. Hermit, what is your research direction?"
"The application of spirituality and magic arrays," Audys said.
"Magic arrays?" Alger was a little surprised: "Are you talking about those magic arrays like 'pentagrams' or 'hexagrams'?"
When he was training in mysticism knowledge, he hated these cumbersome magic arrays the most. They were very troublesome and not very useful.
And the other members who had not undergone systematic mysticism training were a little confused, including Klien. Theoretically speaking, after he became Sequence 8 in the Nighthawks team, he would have the opportunity to go to Backlund for further mysticism studies.
Unfortunately, he "died" before he waited for the advanced training notice.
"Exactly those magic arrays," Audys said. "They have infinite power and a variety of uses."
Alger fell into deep self-doubt: "Are we talking about the same thing?"
