On the eve of liberation, all industries in the capital were in depression, and the wallpaper and mural industry was on the verge of extinction.

Thanks to 1956, the government organized artists from the wallpaper and mural industry and the palace lantern making industry to establish the Beijing Art Red Lantern Factory.
