Natural God's Gift

#51 - This is not good to eat

Several small spiders, hearing the call of the Violet Cloud Mountain Lord, tidied their flat silk pouches and quickly crawled out of the cave to wait.

The Violet Cloud Mountain Lord and the others reloaded their goods onto their backs, walked to the cave entrance, and activated their respective Life Seeds. Under the watchful eyes of Four-Leaf and Bai Zhi, a giant Violet Clover plant, four to five meters tall, rapidly grew, flowered, and bore fruit. The fruit then instantly transformed into a seed, which the Violet Cloud Mountain Lord swallowed back into its Life Pouch.

Seeing the Violet Cloud Mountain Lord swallow its Life Seed back into its Life Pouch, Four-Leaf and Bai Zhi turned to look at the Torch Mountain Lord and the Verdant Land Mountain Lord. They also activated their Torch Grass and Verdant Land Creeping Grass, reverting them back to seed form.

The Violet Cloud Mountain Lord said to Four-Leaf and the others, "I'll lead the way. There might be unexpected situations, so you should stay on the Torch Head."

"Okay!" Four-Leaf and Bai Zhi obediently climbed onto the Torch Mountain Lord's carapace.

"Let's go." With the Violet Cloud Mountain Lord's command, the trade caravan slowly set off.

Standing on the Torch Mountain Lord's head, thinking about the wonderful things the other little warriors had said about trading, Four-Leaf couldn't help but imagine its own wealth. It lowered its head and asked the Torch Mountain Lord, "Torch Mountain Lord, I heard Peony say that we will arrive at a tribe to trade in a couple of days. What tribe are we going to?"

"Hehe, the tribe we are going to this time is a large one, called Bloodvine Lake. This tribe is dominated by White-striped Aedes mosquitoes, and their leader is called the Bloodvine Lord, who possesses a Lord-level Bloodvine God-given Seed."

The Torch Mountain Lord said with a hint of pride, "This tribe was the first trading partner we secured when our trade caravan first ventured out independently. They have a Lord-level mosquito and no fewer than three Mountain Lord-level mosquitoes. They are definitely a wealthy tribe."

"Mosquitoes?" Four-Leaf and Bai Zhi searched their inherited memories. Soon, a species that was good at flying, had six legs, and sharp mouthparts appeared in their memories. After reaching the Mountain Lord level, they would invariably awaken one of the Water and Wind dual-elemental abilities.

"Mosquitoes are delicious." Four-Leaf happily waved its small palps. It used to live in the forest, where it would usually spread a large web in the trees, and mosquitoes and flies would get caught every day, allowing it to eat its fill.

"Shh," Hearing Four-Leaf's words, the Torch Mountain Lord quickly used a silk thread to cover Four-Leaf's mouth. They couldn't eat the customers!

The Torch Mountain Lord reminded them with a hint of nervousness, "You little fellows, don't say that you like to eat mosquitoes or flies at Bloodvine Lake, understand? If the mosquitoes get angry, they won't let us leave Bloodvine Lake."

"Oh, oh," Four-Leaf and Bai Zhi nodded obediently, "I used to like to eat them, but I don't anymore."

"You still can't say that," the Torch Mountain Lord scared it, "You run to the mosquitoes' territory and say you eat mosquitoes. Don't be surprised if the mosquitoes turn around and suck you into spider jerky!"

"I won't say it." Four-Leaf was so scared that it quickly covered its mouth with its palps. Being sucked into spider jerky by mosquitoes? Just thinking about it was terrifying.

The Torch Mountain Lord controlled a silk thread to pat Four-Leaf's head, "Behave yourself."

The group of spiders walked through the dense mountain forest. In early spring, various plants and trees grew vigorously. Although these branches and leaves were still tender at the moment, they brought no small amount of trouble to the trade caravan. They needed to control sharp silk threads to clear a path.

"Damn it, we clearly cleared a path here last spring."

"It's been a year, so it's not strange that trees have grown back." The spiders walked while clearing the way, and after walking for an unknown amount of time, they finally walked out of the dense forest and arrived at an open space.

From here on, there were obvious mountain roads cleared by insects. However, the Violet Cloud Mountain Lord did not continue to move forward. It stopped and transmitted mental messages to the distance.

"Bloodvine Lord, Shy Mountain Lord, are you in the territory?"

A huge mental message came from the distance, scanning all the spiders in the trade caravan, "It's the Violet Cloud Mountain Lord of the Violet Cloud Trade Caravan. I'm in the territory. Let Shy bring you over!"

The Violet Cloud Mountain Lord sent out a mental message in response, "Thank you."

Without letting the trade caravan wait long, a mosquito about two to three meters in size flapped its wings and flew towards the trade caravan with a huge buzzing sound.

The mosquito's huge wings stirred up gusts of wind. Four-Leaf, standing on the Torch Mountain Lord's head, saw that the mosquitoes it usually ate had suddenly become so big. Its eyes widened, and before it could prepare itself, it was blown over twice by the strong wind.

"Eh," the big mosquito stopped on a big tree, looking at the large and small spiders in the trade caravan, "Violet Cloud Mountain Lord, has the number of insects in your trade caravan expanded?"

"Yes, the insect population has increased. Shy Mountain Lord, long time no see, are you well? Your tribe's little warriors should have increased as well, right?"

"A few have increased, but they are not as prosperous as your Flame Spider Kingdom."

"Follow me." Shy Mountain Lord glanced at the little warriors, and the flapping of its wings was not as rough as before, leading the way into the territory.

The Violet Cloud Mountain Lord instructed the spiders behind it, "We will follow Shy Mountain Lord. Do not leave the area they allow us to move in."

The last sentence was addressed to Dragon Sprout and Iron Wire. In insect tribes, each tribe has more or less some secrets or top-level plant species that they cultivate. These places are strictly kept secret from outsiders. If outsiders break into the secret base of other tribes without permission, they will be driven away at best, and at worst, they will become mortal enemies.

Dragon Sprout and Iron Wire nodded their chelicerae to indicate that they understood. It was the same for everyone. If someone broke into the Abyss of their Flame Spider Kingdom without permission, their entire kingdom would riot because of it. Do not do to others what you do not want done to yourself. They were not spiders who had just come out into the world, and they understood these rules.

The group of spiders followed Shy Mountain Lord and arrived at a square fortified with earth and stone. The Torch Mountain Lord said with a slight sense of pride, "This square was built by our Violet Cloud Mountain Lord at the request of the Bloodvine Lord. This lake is Bloodvine Lake, and this is the White-striped Aedes mosquito tribe's breeding base."

But at this moment, no spider listened to the Torch Mountain Lord's words. They were all shocked as they looked at the lake.

The lake in front of them was extremely large, with a size of more than thirty square kilometers. They couldn't see the edge of it at a glance. This wasn't anything special, after all, their Flame Spiders lived by the sea, and they had seen how vast the water surface could be?

However, what shocked them at this moment was not the large lake in front of them, but the large group of swarming, wanton-flying mosquitoes that occupied the entire lake surface and sky.

From the water surface to the high altitude of dozens of meters above, there were clusters of swarming mosquitoes. The dense mosquito swarm was about to blacken the entire sky. The midday sunlight shone on the water surface, but it didn't reflect a single gleam of light. A fawn was brought into the air by a high-level mosquito warrior. Only a black wind swept over the fawn's body, and in the blink of an eye, the fawn turned into bare bones.

The little spiders couldn't imagine how many mosquitoes there were here. They originally thought that the hundreds of millions of little Flame Spiders that foraged on the beaches of their kingdom every day were spectacular enough, but how many mosquitoes were there here? Five billion? Eight billion? Ten billion?

Four-Leaf stared blankly at the lake, thinking in its heart how many of these mosquitoes could feed so many little spiders like them?
