Primordial Dimensions
Chapter 385 - Deceived
Only 8 opponents were now left after four died due to the aftermath of their previous battle, highlighting the dangers of the Primordial tournament and making it clear that one should never underestimate their opponent!
Shane was still confused by thinking about Megane, the Dark Ice Elf.
Even though she was frightening, Shane had an ominous feeling that she was nothing but trouble.
Her background was also eerie and something Shane would have loved to not know, but that was unfortunately not the case.
With only eight participants left, there were in fact only three more rounds to decide the winners of the Primordial tournament.
The last three survivors of the Primordial tournament would receive rewards that were randomly chosen.
That meant luck played a huge role, however, the first place was likely to get a better reward than the other two as the chances were adjusted according to the ranking.
Nevertheless, in the end, everyone required something different as their reward in order to progress.
If there were to be a fixed reward, the first place might be less suitable to someone than the reward the second or third place would get!
Shane's chances to encounter Megane were much higher now, but luck seemed to be on his side as he had to face the prodigy from the Migrd race.
They were grotesque beings that were more of a monster than an intelligent race due to their primitive behavior that was mostly supported by primal instincts and the desire to kill.
Every Migrd looked different, but the one who was already waiting for him inside the arena had a total of two heads, six arms, three on each side, and eight long, spindly legs.
Its body was over three-meter tall, and the arms looked more like weapons than humanoid arms with fingers.
Migrd could utilize every part of their body to attack, turning them into war weapons, but Shane found it more pleasant to fight something like that than Megane.
He had huge respect for her terrifying power because even the cream of the crop seemed to be child's play against her.
This was not only what he thought but, others too.
The fact that this was the case was already alarming enough, but Shane also noticed that her strength was increasing the more opponents she defeated.
It was only a tiny fraction of an increase, but he was able to sense it!
During the last few days, in which the break had increased to a total of three days, Shane's mana purity had increased to [88%], which increased his strength by a small margin.
Unfortunately, the deadly stare Megane was throwing towards him was everything but reassuring.
Thus, he was unable to enter a zone-like state that would have helped him to increase his mana purity further.
Nevertheless, it was more than enough for Shane to be confident to defeat the opponent in front of him.
After that, there would only be a total of three opponents left!
That meant as long as he didn't have to face Megane, he would definitely enter the top 3, allowing him to receive a reward.
In the worst-case scenario, even if he were to face Megane in the next round knowing very well that his strength was truly unable to even reach that of Megane's, there was still the possibility of him giving up!
This might seem cowardly, but even then, Shane could almost bet his entire possessions on the fact that the Dark Ice Elf wouldn't show any mercy and kill her opponent in the finals, thereby, allowing him to enter the top 3 through the backdoor.
In the end, this was only a possibility and nothing Shane wanted to think about right now.
At best, he was just imagining Megane to be very strong, while, in truth, she was much weaker.
Unfortunately, this was unlikely to be the case and every single participant left in the Primordial tournament felt the same.
Nevertheless, this didn't mean that they would give up, and accept that the pride they had felt about their strength was unfounded.
In the end, their rational attitude would be overwhelmed by the sense of humiliation they would feel if they were to give up fighting Megane, only because she might be extremely strong!
This meant that they would fight against Megane even if it was likely to end in their death.
Shane held his life too dearly to risk it all at once, but even he couldn't help but think that he should try fighting against Megane.
He wouldn't simply die at her hands because he could overdrive the [Mana membrane(lesser)] skill to an unknown extent while using even more mana to protect himself.
As such, he would survive at least one attack.
At least, that was what Shane expected to be the case but it was nothing he could be certain about.
Unforeseen events could always occur and Shane had witnessed more than enough of such during the last few weeks to know that he should be careful instead of too aggressive!
While facing the Migrd, he couldn't allow himself to be careless either.
Thus, he released his entire fighting spirit and determination to win against the opponent in front of him, unleashing his [Warrior's Heart] passive skill's potential, the moment the system announced the start of their battle.
The Migrd was not as fast as the winged lightning cheetah he had faced before.
Because of that, Shane had more than enough time to exert the [Slaughterer's Path] technique, including his distinct bloodlust-killing-intent that enveloped his body and the Invincible Scimitar in his hand tightly.
This increased his strength tremendously, while the amount of mana equal to ten times what Shane could normally hold was transferred towards his mana pool in fractions.
This high amount of mana was either circulated through his body, used for certain skills, or inserted into the Invincible Scimitar.
Only a moment later, Shane overclocked the [Light steps] movement technique allowing his body to reach a breathtaking speed.
Owing to this, he was faster than the Migrd, allowing Shane to start moving a little later while accelerating from zero to his limit within a moment.
Yet, instead of directly facing the Migrd that was not only known for being tough to defeat due to their weapon arsenal, Shane pushed himself to the side, reaching the corner of the arena in a moment.
There was something else Shane had to pay attention to after all!
He had only one chance to kill the Migrd and that attack would have to be perfect, otherwise, Shane would end up like the other opponents the Migrd had faced before!
What made the Migrd so special was its weapon arsenal and the resulting versatility of attack giving it the choice of more than a dozen ways of assault to choose from.
Unfortunately, that was not everything, and the most dangerous trait of the Migrd race was their ridiculously high regeneration ability!
Because of that, he had to use everything at once.
Thus, only a fraction of a second later, he had adjusted his angle to push himself towards the Migrd.
The attack angle had slightly diverted, preventing Migrd from using the limbs on his right side, halving his versatility of attacks!
Quickly changing between retreating and attacking, Shane appeared right next to the Migrd as he brandished the brightly glowing Invincible Scimitar at it.
Even though the Migrd's regeneration ability should be superior, destroying the mana core that was inside the center of its body was likely to be the solution of all issues.
This should prevent any injury from healing as the necessary energy wouldn't be present anymore.
What Shane was oblivious to was that the Migrd race was able to move the mana core inside their body!!
Because of that, the Migrd didn't even bother deflecting Shane's attack which he noticed in an instant, only to see six attacks from three legs and arms pointing at him.
At the same time, the Migrd was severed in two pieces, but instead of screaming out in pain, it simply smiled at Shane.
Unable to react in time, Shane could only curse as the six lethal attacks arrived in front of him, barely millimeters away from piercing into his flesh.
"Ohh fuck!"
