Primordial Dimensions

Chapter 459: Retaliation

Shortly after initiating the devouring process of the silver soul world core, Shane faced difficulties not only owing to the retaliating secret realm but also due to the system's sudden disappearance that changed a lot for him too.

The tiny wisp-like mark within him dispersed and along with it, Shane's connection to all skills, titles, and system functions vanished as well.

Only the soul world's configuration remained somewhat as he noticed that he was still able to control it the same as before.

However, it didn't happen owing to the system because it had simply disappeared without another notification or anything similar.

Shane's means to communicate were completely cut off and it was only possible for him to contact others through the soul world which was only partially helpful.

It was better than nothing but incomparable to the system.

Despite the sudden changes that came forth with the system's severed connection, Shane couldn't care less about it right now.

The silver soul world core's defenses and attempts to fight against the soul thread Shane had released to devour it, were much higher than he could have expected.

While the soul thread was released, Shane stared at the silver soul world core, trying to make up his mind whether he could use a better way to devour it or not.

However, in the end, he was oblivious to a better solution, and he decided that it was best to let his instincts take over.

Meanwhile, his own soul world core was vibrating lightly, seemingly trying to release more power into the soul thread Shane controlled. It was desperately attempting to overwhelm the silver soul world core, which was a failure.

Even if Shane was not an expert in the field of soul world cores, he noticed that both his and the silver soul world core were almost equally strong!

This was unexpected and Shane couldn't help but feel that this was disadvantageous for him.

There was only one particular difference he perceived between the two soul world cores which was, in fact, Shane himself.

It was likely that both soul world cores were the product of an awakened soul, meaning that the silver soul world core was a soul without a host.

As such, its reaction was likely to be only an instinct and not initiated by a sentient being at all.

Shane had already expected a similar scenario because the core's reaction upon being infiltrated was simply expelling the pulsating crimson crack out of the dome.

That had only happened after the fire spirits had been defeated, even though it could have happened much earlier if the silver soul world core had reacted earlier.

However, without being sentient this was probably extremely difficult, and the instincts were probably only initiated when everything had quieted down.

Because this had happened, Shane was sure that his soul world core would overwhelm the silver one even after meeting some initial resistance.

To hasten the process, he wished to increase the devouring process's speed.

While his soul world core had only loosened one soul thread instinctively, Shane accessed the soul world core through his mind.

He wanted to separate multiple soul threads from the soul world core, which should easily be possible.

At least that was what Shane expected by looking at his three soulbonds that had each one faint, almost transparent soul thread connecting them to the soul world core, and Shane.

Knowing that it was possible to release more soul threads at once, he decided to leave the two soul world cores alone for the time being.

Meanwhile, Shane wanted to try loosening at least one more thread from his soul.

Grasping the soul world core with his mind was slightly uncomfortable, but experimenting with how to detach another soul thread from it, made him feel even more discomfort.

He simply ignored this while entering a fully concentrated state to decipher the easiest way to achieve his goal.

Time passed slowly, and Shane's mind was focused on loosening more soul threads from his soul world core, which was easier, yet also more difficult than he had expected.

With one more soul thread loosened from his soul world core, Shane was already satisfied with his progress as a single drop of sweat trickled down his cheeks.

Leading the soul thread through his other hand, his mind returned to the secret realm as he lifted his hand to touch the silver soul world core with it.

The second soul thread shot out of his hand, seemingly trying to pierce through the silver soul world core, only to start enveloping it with a rapid pace.

After releasing more energy into both soul threads, Shane noticed how he was slowly growing exhausted.

That was something he could accept without batting an eyelid because it meant that him being the vessel of his own soul turned into an even bigger advantage than initially expected.

Overwhelming the silver soul world core was becoming easier, but its instinctive reaction to the life-threatening situation it faced made it vibrate violently.

Through this, the entire secret realm began to shake heavily, and it was only then that Shane noticed something.

'Wait...what will happen to me when I have completely devoured the silver soul world core? Won't the secret realm disappear...with me inside?! Is that even possible?'

This thought shocked him, interrupting the smooth devouring process for a second before it was restarted.

While the secret world continued to shake, Shane noticed something that made his heart be at ease.

The connection of the silver soul world core to the runes that were all over the place was slowly growing loose.

At the same time, he managed to move the steadfast silver core just an inch, which was more than enough for Shane.

It would take a while before the entire core would be devoured which was probably owing to the secret world's size, and other important factors.

As such, Shane assumed that his soul world devoured the soul world core and a part of the secret realm at a time.

Both the silver core and secret realm were one entity, as such devouring the lands of a few kilometers was likely to be equivalent to devouring a fraction of the silver core!

While he was devouring the entire secret realm, time seemed to pass extremely slowly.

However, at the same time, Shane got the chance to figure out whether the devouring process was bringing forth the expected result or not!

Taking a look into his soul world, Shane first noticed that it was shaking heavily, causing the inhabitants to feel nauseous and sick.

Some humans had even vomited on the ground, which Shane saw with a faint smirk.

He had warned everyone about what was going to happen. As such, they could have left, even if that meant they had to stop working for a short duration.

Apparently, that was something nobody wanted to do because the things they had to accomplish were more than they could count, and the funds they still required were huge.

Looking around the Hidden Paradise, he saw that it was not only shaking but also enlarging.

But that was not everything because the enlarging process was only one of the things that happened.

It was not long before the first ancient magi tree began to manifest in the Hidden Paradise, which allowed Shane to know that everything was working as planned.
