The French were eager to sell their Mirage 2000 to the East, eyeing the massive Eastern market. However, they weren't in a rush. On one hand, the Mirage 2000 was still undergoing flight tests. Aero engines generally have dual rotors, which means that two rotors are nested inside and outside, with different speeds. This is determined by the unique principle of aero engines: its compressor has to compress air, and as the air is gradually compressed, the efficiency of the compressor will become lower and lower. If the speed can be changed, the efficiency can be improved!

General dual-rotor engines divide the compressor into high-pressure and low-pressure zones, so that different blades work in different speed ranges.

Domestic turbojet engines, the introduced Spey, advanced third-generation engines, etc. are all dual-rotor. Even so, the engine designers are still not satisfied and have come up with three-rotor engines.

However, the French do not have this technology.

World War II turned France into ruins, and France did not have the deep industrial foundation like Britain. Therefore, they can only take small steps and improve gradually.

Like other countries, their aircraft engines also evolved from Germany's World War II jet engines. However, they used simple single-rotor axial-flow engines, constantly improving them, from the initial 1-ton thrust of the Atar 101 jet engine to the maximum of 7.5 tons of the Atar 9K-50. Then, add an external bypass duct to turn it into a Super Atar M53 turbofan engine with a maximum afterburning thrust of nearly ten tons, but the structure is still a single rotor.

Whenever any aircraft engine in the East is developed, it will encounter the problem of high and low pressure mismatch. However, the French, whose aviation industrial base is also weak, are not worried, because their engine only has one shaft!
