This would require major changes to the missile. The booster at the tail would have to be larger, and it would also need to have vectoring capabilities after being launched, so that it could dive down in time. After developing the VLS, the warship's design would be more modern. Coupled with two 730 naval guns, it looked just like a Type 054A.

The most famous VLS in the world was of course the American MK41 vertical launching system, which was not only used with the Aegis system but also exported in large quantities, becoming the standard VLS of NATO. However, the first to equip VLS was the old Maozi's warship.

In 1977, the S-300P of the old Maozi's Homeland Air Defense Force finally entered service. This air defense missile used a vertical launch system, with four large tubes pointing straight to the sky, which looked very spectacular.

In the same year, the Azov cruiser, which had not been in service for long, entered the shipyard for modification, installing 6 S-300F missile vertical launch systems and a "Top Dome" phased array guidance radar. From then on, the old Maozi navy entered the era of vertical launch missiles. When the Kirov cruiser entered service, it became the world's strongest air defense ship with 12 8-cell S-300F missile vertical launch systems. As for the Americans? Although they already had the Aegis system, they were still using twin-arm oblique launchers. The MK41 would not be equipped until 1986.

However, it can also be seen that VLS was first used on area air defense missiles. After all, this type of missile has a long flight distance, so it doesn't matter if it goes up to the sky and then comes down. But for short-range missiles, it seems more appropriate to point the launcher at the target and then launch it obliquely.

However, the advantages of VLS are still many. If oblique launching is used, even the launching box only has eight missiles ready to launch, and the remaining missiles are in the launching box behind, which needs to be reloaded. However, on the VLS system, all of them can be launched at any time, and the firepower density is unmatched.

At this time, hearing about 32 missiles, everyone became excited: "Okay, we want this kind of warship!"
