Reborn in Hong Kong: The Tycoon Grows Up
Chapter 1341 Ability Issue
No one likes to lose, even if the opponent is from a different field or with a different identity. Alexey Tupolev, as the chief engineer of the Tupolev Design Bureau, the most important design bureau in the Soviet Union, and the only engineer to inherit the old man's mantle, has his own pride. Although Ustinov is young, that is relative to his position.
After all, he is not too young, and he is relatively mature. Of course, I know the inner thoughts of this old man, so I can only say that the future prospects are very good, at least it cannot show any worse effect than the Diamond Design Bureau. Both Benjin and Alexei Tupolev were chief engineers and heads of the design bureau. If you let your subordinates know that designing aircraft requires a small bonus for designing missiles, they will definitely be unconvinced.
Therefore, little Ustinov wants to make them feel comfortable, mainly to make Alexey Tupolev happy. The old man may not care about money, because it is not a big issue at all; but the staff of Tupolev Design Bureau must not be made to feel that they are inferior to others; in terms of ability and honor, they are very important.
Sure enough, after little Ustinov finished speaking, Alexei Tupolev was still very satisfied. Being able to create benefits for the country is not what their father and son pursue! Although I don't care about the bonus, the staff of the design bureau still have to support their families; being able to receive huge bonuses and subsidies is also beneficial to the management of the organization.
Seeing that the employees of both design bureaus were very satisfied, Ustinov Jr. continued: "Of course there is another highlight, and that is the IL-76 transport aircraft. It is also the star product we sold this time, and the bonuses they received, No less.”
The IL-76 transport aircraft was designed and built by the Ilyushin Design Bureau. The predecessor of the Ilyushin Design Bureau was the Ilyushin Experimental Design Bureau established in 1933. The first chief designer was С.В. Ilyushin. After the war, the focus was on the design and development of transport aircraft. For example, the Il-18 and Il-62 were once widely used. In 1970, Novozhlov succeeded Ilyushin as the chief designer. It has designed and manufactured the Il-76 dual-purpose military and civilian transport aircraft and the Il-86 and Il-96 wide-body passenger aircraft.
It can be said that it has great advantages in the field of large Soviet aircraft. Perhaps only the Tupolev Design Bureau can compete with it, but currently in the field of transport aircraft and passenger aircraft, Tupolev is still worse than the Ilyushin Design Bureau.
Ilyushin Chief Engineer Novozhilov also knows that the sales profit of the IL-76 is not as good as that of the S-300 air defense missile system; in terms of overall profitability, it is even less than that of the Tupolev Design Bureau. It’s good to get bonuses, but it seems that we need to keep working hard.
Today is the first day of the exhibition, and the results achieved by the major Soviet design bureaus are already very good. When the news spread back to China, even the top leaders of the Soviet Union did not have such a big surprise.
However, hearing that three design bureaus received bonuses made the two old Soviet aircraft manufacturing professional design bureaus very unconvinced.
Although the major aircraft design bureaus in the Soviet Union currently appear to be in harmony, their division of labor is relatively clear.
For example, the Antonov Design Bureau mainly designs and manufactures transport aircraft; the Tupolev Design Bureau manufactures bombers; the Mikoyan Design Bureau manufactures light fighters and high-speed interceptors; the Sukhoi Design Bureau manufactures heavy air superiority fighters and attack aircraft; and the Miri Design Bureau The Ilyushin Design Bureau and the Kamov Design Bureau mainly produce helicopters; the Ilyushin Design Bureau produces large transport aircraft; and the Yakovlev Design Bureau develops vertical take-off and landing fighter jets.
But that is only their main business. There is still a lot of business overlap between various design bureaus; or it can be said that they compete with each other. But no matter how you divide it, the two most important aircraft design bureaus in the Soviet Union are definitely Mikoyan and Sukhoi. Compared with them, the other design bureaus are far more advanced in terms of technology, strength, and state support. A big gap.
Now that they see other design bureau staff receiving bonuses, the two families will certainly be unconvinced. This is especially true for Mikoyan Design Bureau.
Mikoyan Design Bureau, formerly known as "Mikoyan-Grevich Design Bureau", is the main aircraft designer and manufacturer in the Soviet Union. It was established on December 8, 1939 by Artyom Mikoyan and Mikhail Gurevich. The design bureau was named after Mikoyan and Gurevich. It is famous for the production of MiG fighter jets. The name "MiG" is the first letter of the surnames of the two designers A-I-Mikoyan and M-Yo Grevich.
Sukhoi made a lot of money by exporting Su-27 before, but now the orders cannot be filled at all. However, due to Belenko's defection of MiG fighter jets, the performance of the MiG-25 fighter jet, the star product of the Mikoyan Design Bureau, was completely controlled by the Americans, putting the Mikoyan Design Bureau into an extremely embarrassing situation.
On September 6, 1976, there was panic at the Sakharov Air Force Base, about 200 kilometers northeast of Vladivostok in the Soviet Union. "068 is lost!" "068 is lost!" The ground monitoring personnel screamed in panic. "068, please answer if you hear it! 068! Please answer if you hear it!" the tower commander also called desperately. However, they got no response. "Organize an interception immediately!" With almost no hesitation, the highest decision-making level of the Soviet army issued the order. But in the end it was too late. Belenko had already defected to Japan in a plane.
The news reached the Kremlin; Brezhnev, the top leader of the Soviet Union, was hit in the head. In anger, he personally ordered that the secret of the MiG-25 "Foxbat" be closely guarded and that it should not fall into the hands of the United States under any circumstances. Seeing that diplomatic channels were ineffective, the Soviet Union had no choice but to dispatch the KGB as a last ditch effort.
While the political circles of the three countries are secretly competing with each other, the U.S. and Japanese militaries are not idle. They organized a large number of technical experts to begin research on the MiG-25 "Foxbat". Since they had learned from Belenko in advance that the "Foxbat" had a self-destruction device, the experts were cautious and made slow progress during the inspection.
It wasn't until the preset self-destruct bomb was defused that they dismembered the "Foxbat" into pieces. In order to avoid destruction by the KGB, they used a huge transport plane to transport the decomposed "Foxbat" to Baili Air Force Base, more than 100 kilometers north of Tokyo. Here, American and Japanese experts conducted a thorough "physical examination" of the "fox bat".
However, the test results somewhat disappointed Americans, because they found that the technical performance of the "Foxbat" was not as terrible as imagined. U.S. Congressman Robert Carr, who rushed to the scene specifically, determined after an inspection: Although the Soviet MiG-25 fighter jet has its own advantages in many aspects, in terms of overall performance, it is only equivalent to the American F-4 "Phantom" fighter jets, which did not pose much of a threat to the F-15 "Eagle" fighter jets and F-16 "Fighting Falcon" combat mechanisms newly developed by the United States at that time.
In this way, insisting on possessing the "Foxbat" no longer makes much sense. Therefore, on November 12, 1976, the United States and Japan "magnanimously" agreed to the Soviet Union's return request.
As the flagship product of the Mikoyan Design Bureau, the MiG-25 has shocked NATO countries for nearly ten years. However, all efforts were in vain because of a pilot's defection. Now the Mikoyan Design Bureau has become a joke in the fighter jet sales market. You can imagine the life of the engineering and technical personnel!
As the current chief engineer of the Mikoyan Design Bureau, Rostislav Belyakov knew that changes had to be made. If engineers do not receive bonuses, not only their working status, but more importantly, national resources and future attractiveness will be greatly reduced.
Rostislav Belyakov: "Minister Ustinov, I don't know if Mikoyan Design Bureau can sell its core products. Today, the military of several countries have come to the exhibition hall to inquire about the specific situation."
Hearing this, little Ustinov knew that the old man was so impatient. Everyone is a shameless person, seeing others drinking and eating meat; Mikoyan, as a veteran design bureau, of course is not far behind.
Ustinov Jr. said very seriously: "The Soviet Union is different from the United States. Our entire country's system supports you in research and development. If you are currently developing products with superior performance, except for weapons and equipment that are not allowed to be sold by international conventions; There are no other issues.”
"I am also about to talk to you about this issue. Currently, several countries are very interested in MiG-29 and MiG-31; they have also found me. Now I need Chief Engineer Belyakov to give me an accurate answer. , does Mikoyan have any new projects? If so, I think both aircraft can be sold."
There will definitely be no one buying the MiG-25, so the MiG-29 and MiG-31 will become the first choice. But the premise is that there are better aircraft, otherwise the Soviet military is also worried about technical leaks.
Rostislav Belyakov solemnly said: "The Mikoyan Design Bureau never disappoints. The new aircraft has been developed and will enter the test flight stage next year."
Regarding the research and development capabilities of fighter jets, the Soviets are not weak at all. In this case, Ustinov is even more confident.
