Red Moscow

Chapter 2652

The Soviet officers and soldiers who were training near the train station were all in groups of more than a dozen people.

The patrolmen encountered on this street were all in groups of three, with a sergeant or corporal leading the team and two ordinary soldiers.

But after the three of them walked for a while, they did not see any Hungarian restaurants. Sokov stopped a patrol team and politely asked the corporal leading the team: "Comrade Corporal, I want to ask, where is the restaurant nearby?"

"Comrade General!" Seeing that the person who stopped him was a general, the corporal quickly raised his hand and saluted on the spot, and then explained to Sokov: "Today is the weekend, the restaurant is closed!"

"What, the restaurant is closed on the weekend?" Sokov was surprised and asked: "Really?"

"Yes, Comrade General." Seeing that Sokov's face was full of disappointment, the corporal quickly added: "The big restaurant is closed on the weekend, but there are some small shops in the alley that are open. If you don't mind, I can take you there."

Socov glanced at the two soldiers standing next to him and asked politely: "Will it affect your patrol?"

"No, Comrade General." For the corporal , it was not easy to see the captain at ordinary times, and now there was a general standing in front of him, talking to him in a friendly manner, which made him flattered: "That small shop is not far from our patrol area. I will take you there and then come back here to continue patrolling."

"Then thank you."

The corporal was overjoyed to see that Sokov agreed to let him lead the way. He turned around and told his two subordinates: "You should patrol according to the original route. I will take the general and others to the place and come back."

After leading Sokov and others into an alley, the corporal asked respectfully: "Comrade General, are you rushing to Budapest?"

"Yes, I just arrived today."

"Are you here to work, or are you just passing by here?"

"I just passed by here and came to the city to stroll around."

The corporal showed a disappointed expression on his face when he learned that Sokov was just passing by here. He had hoped to be appreciated by Sokov through his performance today. If the other party really just passed by Budapest, everything he did would be useless. He began to think about it, and after sending Sokov and others to the place, he immediately turned around and left.

Seeing the disappointed expression on the corporal's face, Seryosha asked: "Comrade Corporal, which army are you from?"

"The 27th Army."

"Oh, you are from the 27th Army." Hearing the corporal say this, Seryosha's face showed a surprised expression: "That's a coincidence, I used to be in the 27th Army."

"You are also from the 27th Army?" The corporal stopped and looked at Seryosha and asked: "I wonder which division you were in before?"

"I was in the guard unit of the army headquarters, and I served as the guard battalion commander."

"You used to be the guard battalion commander in the army headquarters?" The corporal said with a shocked face: "Then why did you leave this unit later?"

Sokov was worried that Seryosha would be embarrassed, so he quickly interrupted and said: "Corporal, haven't you learned the confidentiality regulations, Don't ask questions that you shouldn't ask?"

"I'm sorry!" Seeing that Sokov was unhappy, the corporal quickly apologized to Seryosha and said, "There are some questions I shouldn't ask."

"It's okay." Seryosha was very reasonable. He pointed at Sokov and said, "Let me introduce you. This is my friend, Admiral Sokov. He also served as the commander of the 27th Army."

"What, you are General Sokov." After the corporal learned of Sokov's identity, he quickly stopped, stood at attention, and saluted: "Hello, Comrade General, I have heard of your deeds a long time ago. It is my honor to meet you in person."

Although Sokov served as the commander of the 27th Army for a long time, he could only know commanders above the regimental level at best, and he really had no impression of ordinary soldiers. After he pulled the other's hand down, he asked tentatively: "In which year did you become my subordinate?"

"Comrade General, I joined the 27th Army in November 1944." The corporal said apologetically: "You had already been transferred to other units at that time, but I have heard some veterans talk about your deeds. They said that if you were still in command when our army attacked Hungary, we could not only shorten the time to liberate the city, but also greatly reduce the casualties of the troops."

"They are too flattering. I am just an ordinary person. How can I have such ability." Sokov said modestly and asked back: "Who is the commander of the army now?"

"General Trofimenko!"

Hearing the name said by the corporal, Seryosha showed joy: "I used to be the commander of the guard battalion for General Trofimenko."

Sokov vaguely remembered that since he was injured and left the 27th Army, his superiors dispatched Lieutenant General Trofimenko to take over his position. Unexpectedly, the other party has now become a general, with the same rank as himself.

Arriving at a small restaurant in the alley, Sokov smelled a familiar aroma as soon as he entered the door.

Before he could speak, Kopalova next to him said in surprise: "What is this roasted food? It smells so good."

Seryosha also sniffed it and said: "It doesn't look like potatoes."

Sokof came to the oven and looked inside. He saw a few sweet potatoes next to the oven and couldn't help but smile. You know, sweet potatoes seem to be very popular in China, but they are nowhere to be seen in Russia. I saw roasted sweet potatoes in Budapest today. I don't know whether these sweet potatoes are locally produced or shipped from other countries.

A Hungarian man in an apron walked by and asked in broken Russian: "Excuse me, what do you want to eat?"

Seryosha pointed at the sweet potatoes in the oven and asked: "What is this?"

"This is sweet potato."

Seryosha tilted his head and looked at the sweet potatoes carefully, and continued to ask: "I have never seen this kind of thing. Is it delicious?"

"Delicious, of course it's delicious." The Hungarian man nodded and said: "This is what my friend brought from abroad. It can be boiled or baked." He grabbed one and handed it to Seryosha, "You can try it."

Seryosha took the hot sweet potato and didn't know how to start. Sokov took the sweet potato, tore off the burnt skin, revealing the hot flesh inside, and handed it to Kopalova: "Kopalova, try it, how does it taste?"

Facing the sweet potato handed to her, Kopalova took a bite carefully. The next moment, she widened her eyes in surprise and said repeatedly: "Delicious, really delicious, much better than roasted potatoes." After that, she took the sweet potato from Sokov and continued to eat it.

When Seryosha heard Kopalova say that the sweet potatoes were delicious, he grabbed two more from the stove, handed one to Sokov, and peeled the other and ate it. While eating, he nodded: "Kopalova, you are right, this kind of sweet potato is really delicious."

Sokof took the sweet potato, but did not eat it immediately. Instead, he said to the two people who were eating happily: "Don't you want to taste Hungarian food? Why are you standing here eating sweet potatoes? If you are full, you may not be able to eat more food later."

After the corporal sent Sokov and others to the house, he quietly left while they were eating sweet potatoes.

After the restaurant owner invited Sokov and others into the house, he politely asked: "What do you want to eat?"

"Kopalova," Sokov turned his head and looked at Kopalova, and said to her: "You order the dishes."

"Potato beef soup, fisherman's soup and red pepper chicken." Kopalova said.

"Please wait, I will bring your order soon."

After the restaurant owner left, Sokov whispered to Kopalova: "Kopalova, do you think the boss understands our order? Don't send us a few Hungarian dishes later."

"I don't think so." Kopalova urged Sokov while eating sweet potatoes: "Misha, eat quickly, this sweet potato is really delicious."

Sokov knew that roasted sweet potatoes were delicious. Since he came to this era, many Chinese delicacies have been isolated from him. Sometimes he would drool when he occasionally thought of the delicacies he had eaten in the past.

After more than ten minutes, the restaurant owner brought the dishes ordered by Kopalova, and then said politely: "If you need anything else, just call me."

Sokov first tasted the red pepper chicken, because Kopalova once told him that this dish was very spicy and most people couldn't eat it. After a piece of chicken entered his mouth, Sokov felt that it was a bit spicy, a bit similar to the spiciness of Juewei Duck Neck. But for someone like Sokov who is used to eating spicy food, it is nothing.

Seeing Sokov eating the red pepper chicken nonchalantly, Kopalova asked in surprise: "Misha, aren't you afraid of spiciness?"

"Is it very spicy?" Sokov said lightly: "I think the taste is just right."

Seryosha picked up a piece with a fork and put it in his mouth: "Let me try it and see if this dish is spicy or not."

When the chicken entered his mouth, the expression on Seryosha's face froze. The next moment, he spit the chicken into the plate next to him, and then picked up the water cup next to him and drank the water in big gulps. After drinking a glass of water in one breath, he said to Sokov: "Misha, you lied to me and said this dish is not spicy. I took a bite and my throat was on fire."

"I don't think it's spicy." Sokov said innocently: "For me, it tastes just right."

Kopalova also tasted some chicken and turned to Seryosha and said: "Misha is right, the taste of this chicken is just right, not spicy at all."

Hearing what Kopalova said, Seryosha was really in tears and could only give up the red pepper chicken and take a spoon to scoop the fisherman's soup next to him.

After taking a sip of the fisherman's soup, he immediately gave a thumbs up and said: "This soup tastes good, you can try it."

It didn't take long for the three dishes on the table to be eaten up.

Sokov looked at Kopalova, then at Seryosha, and asked, "How about it, what else do you want to eat?"

Seryosha cast his eyes on Kopalova: "I think Kopalova should order it, she is more familiar with Hungarian cuisine."

Seeing that the two of them gave the right to choose to her, Kopalova was not polite, raised her hand to call the boss, and said to him: "Please, three servings of Langos and chimney rolls."

"What is Langos and what is chimney rolls?" Seryosha asked puzzled.

"Langos is a national street snack in Hungary. It is cheap and easy to make. Simply put, it is fried dough topped with sour cream, garlic and cheese, like a pizza made of fried pancakes. Since we are in Budapest, we must eat such a representative snack.

As for chimney roll bread, it is made by wrapping long strips of dough on a wooden stick, coating the surface with caramel and baking it. The middle is hollowed out like a chimney, so it is named chimney roll. The bread crust is crispy and the inside is soft. The surface of the freshly baked chimney roll is sprinkled with powdered sugar and cinnamon powder, and the hollow cylinder in the middle is filled with chocolate sauce, cream, fruit and other fillings. It is most delicious when it is still hot out of the oven!"

Seryosha gave Kopalova a thumbs up and praised: "Kopalova, you know a lot."

After Seryosha finished speaking, Sokov added: "Or, ask the boss to bring three more somlos."

Seeing Seryosha looking at him with doubt, Sokov said: "Is it okay to eat somlos?" Looking at him, he quickly added: "Somlo cake is based on three different flavors of sponge cake: original, cocoa and walnut. It is poured with vanilla rum syrup, coated with cream and finally sprinkled with dried fruits. It has a rich taste, sweet and delicious, and is one of the most popular desserts in Hungary."

Kopalova stood up and said, "Then I will ask the boss to bring three more Somlos. I don't know when I can come back next time after leaving Budapest this time. If I don't taste more delicacies, I will regret it."

After Kopalova went to the restaurant owner to explain a few words, she returned to the table and said to Sokov: "Misha, the boss told me that their signature dish is caramel apple foie gras. The soup is very rich, and the sweetness of the wine and fruit neutralizes the fatness of the foie gras. However, you may get sick of eating too much. It is recommended to share with many people. I only ordered one."

Before the new dishes were served, Sokov heard noisy footsteps coming from outside. He frowned, then whispered to Seryosha: "Seryosha, did you hear that? It seems that a lot of people came outside."

Seryosha didn't say anything, just nodded, got up and hid behind the stone pillar of the restaurant, and took out the pistol from his waist, ready for battle.

The next moment, a dozen soldiers rushed in from outside and quickly occupied some advantageous positions.

Seeing this, Sokov quickly gestured to Seryosha who was hiding behind the stone pillar, indicating that he should not act rashly.

Then, a captain came in from outside. He came to Sokov, saluted, and asked politely: "Excuse me, are you General Sokov?"

"Yes, I am Sokov." Sokov looked up at the lieutenant colonel in front of him, frowned and asked: "Who are you and what do you want to talk to me about?"

"Hello, I am Captain Bisenbin of the 27th Army Headquarters Guard Battalion. I am under the order of Commander General Trofimenko to invite you to visit the headquarters."

Sokof was stunned after hearing this, and then asked back: "Captain Bisenbin, I have just arrived in Budapest not long ago. How did your commander know my whereabouts?" When he said this, he couldn't help but mutter in his heart, is there someone monitoring his whereabouts together?
