Reincarnated as the Son of Conglomerate
78 Criminale (III)
Sheilah instantly knew the black-haired man was Klaus as she saw the [Thousand Face Bracelet] coiled around his wrist.
Besides, she saw Sylvia. After what happened to her, there was no way that woman wanted to deal with the gang again.
"Do you know that guy, Sheila?" Roach seemed to be still fuming.
"Yeah, he's my boss. Kl-"
"Morgan," Klaus interrupted.
Sheila opened her mouth wide. "Ah, yeah. He's Morgan, the boss where I work." She grimaced.
Roach squinted.
Mediating between them, the short-haired woman cleared up the misunderstanding. She told Roach that Klaus was the one who sold the stolen arcana a few months ago. Because Sheila didn't say the seller's identity, Roach mistook Klaus for the Morning Star's men.
If she hadn't shown up, Klaus might have finished them off. He had been holding back since he stepped foot in this place. Klaus hadn't even taken a single soul. He had only wounded them.
However, tension still enveloped them.
Roach seemed unable to forgive Klaus after Sheila's boss maimed half his men and killed his two direwolves. Sylvia and Izzy were the same. They still couldn't let go of their eyes.
Seeing the iron wreckage hovering above their heads, Sheila swallowed, hoping Klaus would not kill Roach and his men. She still remembered how the Black Bulls ended after Klaus visited their hideout.
"Boss, can you put them down." Sheila grimaced as she pointed at the iron wreckage hovering above her head.
"Not until they hand over my money," Klaus said.
"Then what about them?" The words escaped Roach.
The bald man pointed at his men lying on the floor, moaning in pain as they held the blood flowing from their wounds. The metal spheres might have killed them if the person controlling them wasn't experienced.
"I could have handed over your money. But I can't sit still if my men are dying and the person who put them in such a condition is standing before me."
Klaus chuckled. "They opened fire on me with an AR-15. You want me to take the bullets?"
"Of course, we'd shoot if someone broke into our home." Roach was not to be outdone.
"Your men won't let me in. They say they don't know who "Roach" is. You think I can be patient when the person with my money doesn't return it."
"This is a gangster hideout, not a playground. You have to ask first. We work in the shadows."
"Ask who? The old lady who owns the orphanage?" Klaus quipped.
Roach ground his teeth. "You—"
"That's enough! Guys, keep your heads down." Sheila bit her lip. "Can you put your egos down for a moment and talk nicely? We're not enemies. We're fighting the same enemy. Morning Star!"
Raising his eyebrows, Klaus was curious as he knew that Roach and his men were tangling with Morning Star. The bald man also showed a similar expression to him.
Sheila snapped her fingers. An idea popped into her head to stop their feud.
"Oh, yes. Sylvia can turn back time, right? We can return them to their original state. Right, boss?" She looked at Klaus with a hopeful gaze.
Klaus sighed. "Yes."
A smile bloomed on Sheila's face. She turned to Roach. "My boss will heal them, don't worry. Let's end this matter."
The bald man raised an eyebrow, looking at Klaus suspiciously. Then, he nodded his head.
The flying irons fell slowly. The gangsters put on relieved faces, knowing they didn't have to face death. The tension between Sylvia and Izzy also calmed down. The red-haired woman turned back to Klaus.
"You want me to use my power on them, Klaus?"
"Can you still do it? You already used [Time Rewind] once before."
Sylvia nodded. "I can. I've been practicing a lot lately."
Hearing such a confident answer, Klaus smiled. "Alright, do it."
With a worried look, Syilvia walked up to the gangsters. Izzy blocked her way, but Roach told that woman to let her be.
Greenlight emanated from Sylvia. The gangsters opened their mouths as they saw Sylvia bathed in mana. It flowed from her body to them. Slowly, the blood pooling on the floor returned to the flesh, and the wounds on their bodies closed.
Roach was amazed. Never had he seen an awakener be able to do such a miraculous thing.
After all the gangsters recovered, the green light enveloped their bodies vanished. At the same time, Sylvia could not keep her knees up.
Klaus caught the red-haired woman before she fell to the floor.
"Good job," he whispered.
Sylvia smiled weakly. Her face was pale and covered in cold sweat. Not long after, she lost consciousness.
Roach walked over to Klaus. The bald man stared at him for a long time. His gaze was deep and severe.
As Klaus thought the man would act arrogant, Roach suddenly smiled kindly.
"This is my fault. I'm sorry if my men did something careless."
Of course, Kaus was surprised to hear an apology from him.
Most people Klaus had ever met had high egos. They liked to show their dominance. Especially those who work in the underworld. Like Mavis, the head of the Black Bulls.
Roach extended a hand. "We are cool now, I guess."
And Klaus shook it. "Unfortunately, she can't bring back your dead direwolves."
"It's okay. No creature can live from the dead. After all, they were born to die."
Roach ordered some men to take Sheila to a comfortable resting place. Sheila went along with them. The woman nodded her head to Klaus before she left.
The bald man invited Klaus to find a nice place to talk. Roach led the way, taking him down to the basement. If the above was like an abandoned warehouse, the cellar was like an arcade center.
Arcade game machines filled the room. The gray concrete walls were decorated with posters and ornaments. The lighting was dim, but neon of various colors was attached to the ceiling, giving a relaxed vibe to people playing games.
They entered a small office room.
Klaus sat on one of the couches while Roach picked up a large bag behind the desk.
"Here's your money." The bald man dropped it on the table.
Klaus raised his eyebrows. Unzipping it, he saw a pile of 100-dollar bills inside.
"It's 30 million dollars. You can count it here if you don't believe me. We have a money counting machine."
"Finally, you gave me my money. But why did it take you so long?"
"Well, we need to sell to customers in periods. Your stuff was stolen from gangs. We had to be careful to avoid war. But in the end, our efforts were in vain. Morning Star attacked us."
Naturally, Klaus raised his eyebrows. He was curious why one of the largest guilds in the US would attack a small criminal group.
