Ride and Cut

Chapter 48 The Minotaur

"It's really shaking." Gunther simply lay down with his ears on the ground, and after a while, he gestured for Hurt to come and listen.

"We centaurs can't get on the ground." Hurt stood outside the house with a embarrassed expression on his face.

Li Cha returned all the jelly beans to the dwarf who was about to lose and cried, and did not forget to warn him that he would be beaten if he dared to gamble in the future.

"Let's go, all the Alpine Fort has assembled." He patted the dirt on his buttocks, and took the lead towards the camp of the dwarf warriors.

Their movements alarmed the guards who were standing guard in shifts, and they asked suspiciously, "My lord, is there something wrong?"

Not far away from the arrow tower, there were suddenly a few majestic and low-pitched horn sounds, "Enemy attack!", and the sentry shouted desperately.

Quickly waking up in the sleeping camp, only the sound of chaotic footsteps could be heard for a while. The dwarf warriors did not take off their armor when they slept, and their weapons were pressed under the pillow, so that they could quickly prepare for battle after waking up.

The sky is already a little bit dark, or this is the so-called "the most prone to negligence and relaxation before dawn". However, the lord felt that this statement should be nonsense. He saw that the dwarf sentries had been rotating on time and maintained a high level of vigilance.

"Who is here this time?" Li Cha didn't bother to talk to Robbie, and directly talked to the oldest warrior among the dwarves.

This old man is called Sendak, and since the current patriarch is a hairless kid, he is now essentially serving as the highest military commander of the tribe.

Sendak only exchanged a few gestures with the sentry on the watchtower, and then said to Richard:

"Bloodhoof Tribe."

"Minotaurs?" When the lord exchanged information with Anne before, this tribe was emphasized many times, so he was very impressed.

"Yes." The dwarf's stone face is usually difficult to see any expression fluctuations, but at this time the seriousness on the old dwarf's face can be seen even by a blind person.

The Minotaur, also known as the Tauren, is also a relatively rare race in the wilderness. The overall shape can be regarded as a wise ox walking upright.

From this point of view, they are different from other half-orcs. Whether they are bears or werewolves, they are more like people than beasts, while Minotaurs are more like beasts than people.

Although they look so cool like scalpers, their nature is far from docile. In fact, they are a very, very tyrannical race.

The Minotaurs lived on meat, and were keen on war and killing. Most of the members were either fighting or on the way to fight throughout their lives.

These alone are not enough to make them stand out from the wilderness heroes. What is really important is that the adult Minotaurs are all super strong men with three blades and a weight of nearly a thousand pounds!

From the perspective of physical condition alone, they are born to be the best heavy infantry. But the Minotaur has a fatal flaw—the discipline of this race is too poor, and once it falls into a combat state, it will enter a state called "semi-madness".

Under the semi-mad state, the original terrifying strength and endurance of the Minotaur will be further enhanced, completely turning into a tireless killing machine. It's a pity that there must be advantages and disadvantages, and the fighting spirit full of brains will make them uncontrollable at all.

This is a fatal flaw at the level of the large army. Not only will they fall into chaos, but they will also break up the friendly formation. Several human generals who tried to tame the Minotaur suffered the bitter fruit of defeat for this.

But on the scale of tribal conflicts, this trait, far from being a flaw, can even be seen as an advantage, since their opponents often have little discipline anyway.

"How are you going to deal with them?" Li Cha was curious.

These short mound fighters around are stacked on top of each other, and they have to jump around to be about the same height as the Minotaur. It stands to reason that even if they have some equipment advantages, they still can't fight at all.

But since the dwarf tribe has persisted for so long and has not been breached, it is enough to show that they are definitely not helpless, otherwise it should be Minotaur who is staying here now.

"The tauren are very impulsive, and if we lure them a little bit, they may be alone." Sendak seemed to be telling Richard, and seemed to be just muttering to himself to cheer himself up, "Then we dwarf warriors will have a chance to swarm him and kill him!"

"..." The lord was sweating, and he felt that the two links of "a little temptation" and "swarming up" might not be as easy as they sounded.

"And they are too tall, unless they bend over, it is difficult to hit us." Robbie just came out of the room and added.

After imagining the scene where Minotaur was bending over hard during the battle, the lord unconsciously twitched the corners of his mouth, and Gunther and Hurt also leaned together and laughed twitching.

"He Shuai, you are too tall, I'm afraid it will be dangerous today." Gunther said solemnly.

"Shuai Gang, you're not short either." Hurt was not to be outdone.

Li Cha is really convinced that in order to protect the so-called "God-given mine", he can do this, that is, a stubborn dwarf.

From the standpoint of Alpine Fort, of course I hope the dwarves can persist as long as possible. But if you think about it differently, Li Cha can no longer understand this insistence, and the dwarves should not understand the truth that if the earth survives and the people die, everyone will die.

"How many fighters do they have?" Li Cha set up his binoculars and looked in the direction indicated by the sentinel.

"It's more than forty." Sendak said, "There were nearly sixty people before, but we killed a dozen or so, and there are hundreds of goat people as vassals."

Li Cha put down the lens tube. After all, the telescope can only see far away but not night vision. Given the current lighting conditions, it is still difficult to see places that are too far away.

But he didn't wait long, and soon everyone could see some vague black shadows approaching in the distance.

From such a long distance, it was difficult to intuitively feel the strength of Minotaur. Only when you see the sheep-headed people around you can you suddenly realize how huge those black shadows really are against the backdrop of the short ones.

"Good guy, this guy is big enough." Compared with the nervous dwarves around him, Li Cha looked quite relaxed, as if he didn't realize what a terrible enemy the Minotaur was.

"How many arrows do we have for our bed crossbow?" Robbie suddenly turned to look at the archery tower.

The sentinel responded quickly: "Patriarch, there are only six."

Li Cha and Sendak looked at each other, and they both saw helplessness in each other's eyes.

Robbie is really too young - things like ammunition reserves shouldn't be asked in public at all, so as not to have a bad impact on the morale of the army.

Now all the little soldiers know that their bed crossbows will turn into squibs after a few shots, and the possibility of them being relieved by this should, maybe, 80% is not particularly high.

"Master Richard, please serve as a reserve stormtrooper. We dwarves will try our best to divide and withstand their pressure."

The lord could not help but be in awe after hearing this—this old man is a kind man, and he does not want to let the friendly troops who came to reinforce them take on the task of directly confronting the Minotaurs, even though that is almost certainly the stage with the heaviest casualties.
