Rise of the Argentine Empire

#146 - Boston Travelogue

The Boston Tea Party in American history eventually led to the famous American Revolutionary War.

Boston is now the city with the highest level of education among residents in the United States. The world-renowned Harvard University and MIT are both located in the Boston metropolitan area.

After taking three taxis and finding a luxury hotel in the city, San Jose finally settled down somewhat. He didn't want to get shot.

San Jose found a reason for himself.

"Looks like it'll be better after staying for a while. The United States isn't that stable and peaceful."

"The security on the East Coast is actually not bad. I heard that there are frequent gang shootouts on the West Coast. This kind of situation is rare. Maybe it's also because of the presidential election."

"Does the presidential election affect security?"

San Jose was a little puzzled and put down the large鉗子 in his hand.

"Yes, after all, it's a new election. Some people even buy votes, and not everyone has a vote. Every vote is crucial."

"Anna, what was your major when you were in school?"

"Public relations management. It's just learning some boring theories, Mr. Tom."

"Well, you're doing a great job. When I get to Harvard, you can go home and take a vacation. We'll go back to New York together then."

San Jose wasn't too concerned about what he would do at Harvard, but in order to make it worthwhile, he definitely needed to do something useful. This would be a qualification for early graduation and a chance to recharge himself.

"Mr. Tom, don't you need me to continue being your guide?"

Anna was a little stunned, then a little happy.

"It's rare to go home, so spend some time with your family. I can go to Harvard myself tomorrow."

"Okay, Mr. Tom, you are the best boss."

Regardless of the level, General Manager Sain's respect for Mr. Tom was beyond doubt.

"Then we'll say goodbye here. I'll contact you later."

"Okay, Mr. Tom, this is my home phone number and address. You can also come to my house as a guest."

After dinner, Anna left in a hurry.

……

"The moon seems a bit round tonight."

The security was good near the luxury hotel, and it was relatively close to Harvard.

Moreover, the hotel probably had a strong backing.

After taking a shower, San Jose picked up a book on securities and futures and some information to read. The American presidential election had a big impact on him.

He also fully witnessed the power of public opinion of these big consortia. They could even turn black into white, and the public fully trusted them.

If nothing unexpected happened, Dwight D. Eisenhower was reversing the election situation.

"Argentina's strength is still too weak. Any consortium can crush Argentina. In the end, it's still a lack of money."

This time, the futures he planned to speculate on were onions. Now Sain had already been following the agricultural growers behind the scenes to acquire those onion futures. If the acquisition went smoothly, he could earn at least 3-5 times the profit, and then he could buy more shares of American companies. With these funds, investing in Argentina would have a greater impact.

This was a good opportunity. He was just acting as a catalyst. There were still a few big shady deals waiting ahead, and he could just follow behind and get a share.

Nothing happened overnight. San Jose got up early the next day.

Fortunately, he didn't have any strange habits like lingering in bed. He rested well, and the hygiene conditions of the luxury hotel were also good.

Today he was going to see Professor Perkins, which was a little exciting for San Jose.

The sky in Boston was also a bit gloomy.

But it possessed the world's best intellectual and educational resources, and was known as the "Athens of America."

So San Jose immediately decided to set up several companies and even research institutes in Boston.

Harvard University was located in Cambridge, in the city center, and nearby were also MIT and Boston University.

San Jose drove the rented car to Harvard.

Starting in 1945, Harvard changed its admissions policy, accepting students from different backgrounds, not just children from aristocratic schools. The types of students also began to diversify, and there were many more Jewish and Catholic students on campus, but blacks and Asians still accounted for a very small number.

Harvard Law School was the oldest law school in the United States, and this was his destination.

Harvard had produced many presidents, the most famous of which were the two Roosevelt presidents.

In total, there were two Roosevelts. One was Theodore Roosevelt, the youngest president in American history, also known as Old Roosevelt.

He became the President of the United States at the age of 42. There was also his distant nephew, Franklin D. Roosevelt, also known as Little Roosevelt, who was the most famous, led the United States in World War II, and was the longest-serving President of the United States in history.

Little Roosevelt not only economically saved the United States after the Great Depression, but also played a key role in shaping the postwar world order. His influence was particularly evident in the Yalta Conference and the founding of the United Nations.

San Jose was waiting for Perkins at the entrance of Harvard. Because he was handsome, he felt a little outstanding. Of course, there were very few female students at Harvard University now, even fewer than at BU.

"It's probably similar to the Harbin Buddhist Academy, also Harvard."

Harvard now was probably like the polytechnic universities of later generations. The proportion of female students might only be less than 5%, but BU had 12%, which was quite remarkable.

In fact, although Harvard also had Radcliffe College, which was mainly for women, in terms of the status of women, it might not even be as good as Argentina. This was because of Mrs. Peron, and there was nothing to be proud of.

During World War II, the employment of women in the United States greatly increased, but historical inertia was still the case. Discrimination against women in society still existed everywhere.

For example, there were almost no women in the high-level positions of many large companies, and they could only do things like secretaries. It would take one or two generations to reverse the social atmosphere.

Many American universities now do not enroll female students. Harvard was already considered relatively remarkable. Yale did not have any female students at all. All of them were men. Most of the female college students in the United States relied on some women's colleges to complete their studies, such as the State University of New York.

Anna actually graduated from a women's branch of the State University of New York. The State University of New York was re-integrated in 1948. She was very fortunate to be admitted to a women's branch of the university.

She obtained a degree, the quality of education was excellent, and the tuition was lower compared to private universities. Because Anna came from an ordinary family, she was able to continue her education. Otherwise, the expensive tuition of private universities would have forced her to drop out and go to the factory.

This was also a common problem of many American private universities. The tuition was very expensive. In comparison, Argentina was much better now, mainly based on public universities.

"Tom, over here."

San Jose couldn't help but criticize the American education system when he heard Professor Perkins' voice.

"Professor Perkins."

San Jose trotted over to join the delegation.

"Is everything done?"

Perkins asked.

"Yes, Professor."

"Then you just follow along, Tom."

San Jose used a fake identity. Of course, this visit experience was real, and with Professor Perkins as a guarantor, it was considered a secret visit.

"Okay, Professor."

San Jose followed Professor Perkins, walking and looking around, diligently acting as a little follower, showing that he was diligent and eager to learn, and he could indeed learn a lot.

"I'll be staying for three months this time. You can do whatever you want, and you can also take a look and study more. It's very beneficial."

Perkins instructed, chatting and laughing with the dean of Harvard Law School.

Saint Hesser found it quite unbelievable, but later learned that this dean was a junior fellow of Pukins during his master's studies. They had studied under the same teacher and spent many years together day and night.

Saint Hesser couldn't help but sigh, excelling in studies is truly amazing. Even in America, people take you seriously. This must be the academic power in America.

Although Argentina and the United States are hostile on an official level, it doesn't affect academic exchanges. The University of Buenos Aires, as the top university in Argentina, still holds some prestige. Coupled with academic connections, Pukins' position is elevated even higher than it actually is.

This visit to the United States was primarily for Professor Pukins himself, along with other professors and students. Saint Hesser was just tagging along for lectures and had his own matters to attend to.

Saint Hesser began a life of attending lectures, and after more than ten days, he somewhat dazedly made a phone call to Anna's home, feeling confused by what he was learning and experiencing a headache.

"Anna, you can return to New York on your own. I need to study here at Harvard for a while."

"Oh, okay, Mr. Tom. Would you like to come to my house as a guest? I'd really like you to meet my family."

"Maybe next time, I need to learn a lot of things during this period."

"Okay then ~"

The joy of learning is unimaginable.

Harvard's graduate courses were very difficult to understand, forcing him to abandon his plan to return to New York in the short term.

He intended to study seriously this time. Such an opportunity was rare. These were two different learning systems: the Spanish system and the Anglo-American system. In comparison, Argentina was far behind.

Saint Hesser had basically completed the courses from freshman to senior year through self-study at the University of Buenos Aires. However, graduating in two years didn't quite comply with the regulations; otherwise, he would have already applied for early graduation.

This trip to Harvard felt like a valuable learning experience, making him feel like he had been building a cart behind closed doors and seeing the sky from the bottom of a well in Argentina. The United States truly overwhelmed Argentina in all aspects.

Saint Hesser asked Professor Pukins to help him obtain Harvard student credentials and the like. He also planned to audit other undergraduate courses, entering a state of frenzied learning.

To this end, he also moved the futures trading room to Boston for remote guidance. After all, the US stock futures market was also open from Monday to Friday, and frequent trips back and forth were unrealistic, plus he needed to continue studying on weekends.

Harvard's graduate and undergraduate courses were very difficult. The difficulty of the undergraduate courses was about twice as high as the science and engineering courses at the University of Buenos Aires. Saint Hesser studied everything from the Rhine system to the Anglo-American system, the continental legal system, and a whole bunch of constitutional legal systems in detail. Fortunately, his memory was good.

"The futures plan may have to proceed slowly and needs to be further improved."

Saint Hesser had to spend money again to buy a manor in Boston, near Harvard, and then bought a car. These were necessary expenses. He also contacted home and had Guerrero dispatch some Falcon Bureau personnel over.

He also often visited and studied at MIT and Boston University. The talent here excited him greatly; there were many academic elites, which was very beneficial to his centrifuge project.

He also met some students from the physics department, but he hadn't met any academic bigwigs yet. It had to be said that these people's academic level was very high, and their research on nuclear physics and space physics was very in-depth, which was very inspiring for Saint Hesser. He somewhat regretted not bringing Elena with him.

Elena would definitely love it here; the physics here is amazing.

Saint Hesser continued to keep a low profile, even daring not to talk too much with them. The security measures at these universities were also very strict.

Most of the time, he was engaged in tedious study, working harder than most Harvard students. He had fallen behind on many courses, and time was pressing.

Gradually, Saint Hesser was able to keep up with their courses, and the acquisition of onion futures gradually came to an end.

October 20th, a manor in Boston,

"Boss, we have acquired at least 20% of the onion contracts on the market, which is close to saturation, and there is not much capital left."

"Is it really necessary to continue? It seems that there is a bumper harvest of onions this year."

Sean was a little puzzled. He felt a bit confused and unreal about this trip to Boston to report on his work.

Recently, the Blackwater Company has been developing smoothly. After cracking down on several local New York gangs, no one has tried to warn Sequoia Capital from the gang level. Moreover, Sean, after being guided by Saint Hesser, joined some upper-class clubs. Now, Sequoia is receiving more goodwill than malice.

Sequoia also launched wealth management products, allowing many wealthy people on Wall Street to purchase Sequoia's products. Sequoia's investment scale has more than doubled, and the number of employees has also increased significantly.

Saint Hesser had to transfer more than half of his money in advance to the accounts of other investment companies, and Sequoia became a venture capital wealth management company, helping wealthy Americans manage their wealth. External risks were also reduced, and there were even plans to introduce some consortia.

This was a necessary change. Saint Hesser was allowing Sequoia to adapt to the American capital system, and it could also make money and collect management fees. However, in this way, Sequoia would slowly and gradually move out of his control.

Other shell companies were slowly being filled, and Sequoia also began to need more outstanding graduates. The quality of employees increased a lot, and it gradually became more standardized.

Sean did a good job. Although he was now becoming a true American, there was nothing he could do about it. The original plan was no longer needed.

The sky is going to rain, and the mother is going to marry. If Sequoia wants to continue to develop, it can only continue to Americanize, and he is gradually withdrawing funds and dispersing them to new companies.

"Yes, don't worry, we have scattered them among a dozen investment companies, and we have enough onion contracts to make a big profit."

Of course, Sean was still very loyal to him. The two were still closely linked by interests. Sean couldn't develop any backers in the short term, and Sean's abilities were only slightly better than ordinary people.

Saint Hesser was his strongest backer. His transformation into an American identity was only to make money better for Saint Hesser. Americans are more assured of Americans, which is inevitable.

Even though the United States is a country of immigrants, Americans are very confident in turning yours into mine. Saint Hesser maintained enough sobriety and constantly reminded himself that he was an Argentine.

Saint Hesser planned to train another group of financial talents to master this huge wealth in the United States. Little Nix was also preparing to go north to the United States. He was one of his important confidants. Sean was no longer suitable to help him manage his wealth secretly, and his ability was not enough, and he was relatively old.

"Sean, you've done a great job. The layout of this futures war is good."

"Thank you for the compliment, boss. I just did some of the things I was supposed to do."

"Help me register a few more new companies, and then just put a few people in each company."

"Electrical company, automobile company, shipbuilding company, oil company..."

"Boss, this is too big, right? Will it affect the funds?"

"Well, that's not something you need to consider. Just set up a shell company for now."

"Yes, boss, I was being nosy."

After Sean finished reporting his work, he took a short flight back to New York, which was faster. Recently, the United States has opened many new domestic flights, making communication between cities closer.
