Rise Online: Return of the Legendary Player
495 Yggdrasil (Part 3)
One by one, the seven members of Kaizen's group prepared for the jump, believing in themselves.
Jumping from a tree as tall as Yggdrasil was not as easy as jumping from the top of a building. In fact, it was more like jumping from the top of Mount Everest, and that was exactly how Kaizen and Xisrith felt as they couldn't even see the base of the tree.
Still, each of them took the plunge, and after one last look at Ratatosk, they leaped into the unknown, trusting that Yggdrasil would protect them as they fell.
As they plunged through the sky, a mixture of emotions enveloped them. There was fear and adrenaline, but also a deep sense of connection to the power of Yggdrasil. The iridescent wood glowed brightly, enveloping them in a magical aura as they watched the long branches move so that no one would hit them.
In the midst of all this, a transcendental experience enveloped their minds. As they crossed the branches, their visions expanded beyond the physical boundaries of the sacred tree, beyond what their ordinary eyes could normally see.
As they descended, they could catch fleeting glimpses of extraordinary landscapes, as if they were crossing other worlds as they fell. Mystical and legendary scenes unfolded before their eyes, capturing their imagination and leaving them in a state of enchantment.
At first, they found themselves in a glittering world of ice and snow. A vast tundra stretched as far as the eye could see, with icy mountains and frozen rivers. As they passed through this frozen landscape, they saw colossal ice giants walking among the peaks and ice wyverns flying through the sky, creating a majestic spectacle.
Soon after, they were transported to a lush and green realm. Dense forests with tall trees and crystal clear rivers stretched out before them. Forest animals such as majestic deer and imposing wolves roamed free, while elves and fairies walked among the trees in great cities suspended in the forest.
The next vision took them to a land of sheer rock and towering cliffs. A barren and challenging landscape where Viking warriors fought fiercely against stone giants and angry trolls. The sound of clashing swords and shields echoed through the valleys, while the sun's rays illuminated a golden city on the horizon, creating an epic atmosphere.
As they continued their descent, they witnessed more visions. An underwater world of deep oceans and beautiful realms, where magical sea creatures swam among coral reefs and underwater cities.
There was also a land of fire and lava, inhabited by fiery salamanders, with volcanoes roaring and flames billowing in the background. And at the center of this world was a gigantic sword.
As each vision faded, a new one took its place, revealing the diversity and richness of the Norse worlds. These fleeting experiences offered the group a unique glimpse of the realms beyond Midgard, showing them the grandeur and splendor of the mythology that permeated their own world.
Finally, the descent came to an end, and the group awoke suddenly in a place very different from either Midgard or Yggdrasil. The ground was soft and uneven like sand, but it was gray and a cold front was bothering them.
They all stood up almost at the same time and looked around in confusion. They were standing on a vast, desolate plain, with a gray mist hovering in the air. The sky was covered with dark, heavy clouds, giving the feeling that a storm was approaching.
"Wait, where are Marcus and Elysia? They're not with us." Kara, the Descendagon archer of the group, inquired.
"That's right, they couldn't make it to us. What could have happened?" Samantho inquired.
Before they could speculate further, a familiar voice echoed across the plain. It was Ratatosk, the messenger squirrel, who had suddenly appeared from behind a rock.
"Ah, you have finally arrived! I know you are confused by this strange place, but if you are not used to it, let me introduce you... Welcome to Niflheim, the realm of fog and ice!"
Everyone was stunned for a moment and looked around once more.
On second thought, the landscape was unlike anything they had ever seen in Midgard. In the distance, they could see mountains larger than any other, the sky was completely gray, and the aura they all felt was different.
"So this is Niflheim? Ow..." Kaizen said in awe. "Wait, if Xisrith and I made it this far, I mean..."
Ratatosk didn't even let Kaizen finish, he just folded his arms, nodded and replied:
"Yes, not all players need to be evolved to travel between worlds. In fact, you are the first to make such a journey. Congratulations, you have put in a lot of effort and you are receiving the fruits.
At that moment, Kaizen was even more surprised than before, but he didn't know how to answer whether it was because he didn't actually need to become an Evolved or because Ratatosk called them 'players'.
Kaizen raised his eyebrows in confusion. He approached Ratatosk with an expression of curiosity and a hint of suspicion.
"Players? How do you know that?" he asked without hesitation.
Ratatosk smiled, revealing sharp little teeth. "Ah, you really are amazing. Yes, I know that Niflheim is one of the many virtual realities created by 'Odim'. You are players in this vast universe of possibilities."
Xisrith and Kaizen exchanged complex glances, and the other descendants, seeing the unexpected reaction of both, were curious.
"What are they talking about?" Someone asked.
"Yeah, we don't understand that language."
"Klaus, does he know where our brothers have gone?" Another asked.
Kaizen ignored all the questions for a second and looked <Analyzer Eye> at Ratatosk, but contrary to what he expected, a large window with numbers or question marks did not appear before him, another kind of system window appeared.
