Chapter 686: Bugbear Camp

The bugbear camp was rebuilt from a natural cave.

The man-made tunnels and natural caves are nested and intricate, and it is easy for outsiders to get lost in the dim cave.

Gao Fei found a secluded place near the entrance of the cave, hid in the shadows, took out the "object locating technique" scroll given by Father Gallup, and began to cast a spell.

He used the rapier carried by William Gordon as an anchor, and when the spell was completed, an idea immediately emerged in his mind.

William's rapier was very close to him, less than a hundred meters away in a straight line.

Unfortunately, the "object locating technique" can only provide the coordinates of the target, but cannot provide a route map to the coordinate point.

Gao Fei does not have the ability to walk through walls in a straight line, so he has to find the way to the destination by himself.

While sneaking, he has to check the coordinates from time to time to ensure that he does not deviate too far from the destination.

The deeper you go into the nest, the dimmer the ambient light becomes.

The bugbears are born with dark vision and do not need light sources for illumination.

Gao Fei's "Thief", with his unique professional ability "Eye of Insight", also has dark vision and is not affected by the dim environment.

Gao Fei explored in the strange cave and encountered the bear goblins in and out of the nest many times. He avoided the enemies with the protection of "Invisibility" and his agile skills.

It took about half an hour to finally get within 50 meters of the destination. Now there is only one road in front of him.

The tunnel in front of him extends downward almost vertically, like a deep well.

A wooden escalator was erected at the wellhead. The iron wire tied to it was rusty and did not look very strong.

Gao Fei knew without stepping on it that even if the wooden ladder could bear his weight, it would definitely make a harsh creaking sound, alerting the bear goblins in the cave.

For the sake of caution, he did not use the wooden ladder. Instead, he took out a hook from the thief's tool kit, fixed it to the wellhead, and hung down along the rope.

Before landing, Gao Fei grabbed the rope with his right hand, freed his left hand to draw the sword, and poked the ground under his feet twice.

The sword tip felt solid, indicating that there was no pit like a flap on the ground under his feet.

Gao Fei sheathed the sword, landed on the ground with confidence, and retracted the hook with a flick of his wrist.

At the bottom of the shaft, there was a tunnel extending horizontally, with a wooden door blocking the end.

A rough noise came through the crack in the door.

Gao Fei walked to the door and peeked inside through the crack.

Behind the door was a basement with a wooden table in the middle. Two bear goblin guards sat at the table and were gambling with dice carved from stone.

There were also some gold and silver coins on the table as chips.

These two guys laughed when they won money, and cursed when they lost money, suspecting that their opponents were cheating.

Looking at this posture, no matter which bear goblin lost all the money first, he would most likely overturn the table and refuse to pay, and fight.

Next to the guard room, there seems to be a dormitory.

Through the tattered wooden door, there are snoring sounds.

Gao Fei thought about it.

To go to the dungeon where William is imprisoned, you must pass through the guard room and the dormitory.

Then the two bugbears in the guard room are stumbling blocks that must be removed.

If you rush in and start fighting directly, the two guards will shout and it is likely to wake up the bugbears in the dormitory next door, and rush out to join the battle.

In such a small indoor environment, the thief profession does not have enough space to play the speed advantage. Once trapped in the siege of the bugbears, they will be beaten to death before they can last two rounds.

Gao Fei must get rid of the two bugbear guards cleanly and neatly, and during this period, he must not make a noise that is enough to wake up the sleepers.

The health points of the two bugbear guards are about 35 points.

Being addicted to gambling gave Gao Fei a good opportunity to launch a surprise attack.

However, Gao Fei must at least use two consecutive swords, plus the sneak attack damage, to be able to kill a bugbear in seconds. What about the other bugbear?

If you use a pistol to launch a surprise attack, the damage will be higher than that of a rapier, but you will not be able to kill two strong bear goblins in one round.

Unless you hit a critical hit.

You can't count on such luck at all.

Gao Fei thought for a while and came up with an idea.

He first spent 15 magic points to bless himself with "Cat's Grace", "Owl's Wisdom" and "Eagle's Majesty", and increased the three attributes of agility, perception and charm by 4 points respectively.

The purpose of increasing agility is to increase the attack check and damage correction by 2 points each when launching a surprise attack.

Increasing perception and enhancing the "Perception" skill by two points, in case there are still enemies hiding in the dark in the room, it is more likely to be discovered in time.

Charm is the spellcasting attribute of the "Thief", and it is increased to 25 points, which increases the hit rate and immunity difficulty of the spell by 2 points each, and tries to avoid the negative interference caused by luck factors.

Next, Gao Fei spent another 5 magic points to bless a pistol bullet with a second-level "Silence".

"Silence" is Gao Fei's core spell for infiltration and assassination, and its importance is even no less than "Invisibility".

Only by combining "Silence" and "Invisibility" can the current "Thief" surpass other thief-type professional paradigms including "Temple Vanguard" and firmly occupy the S-level position.

Gao Fei loaded the bullets infused with "Silence" into the pistol magazine, kicked the door open, and rushed in with two guns in hand!

As a thief, is it really okay to be so arrogant?

Aren't you afraid that the noise of kicking the door will be too loud and alarm the guards?

What the hell!

The magic bullet in the gun chamber has opened a "silent barrier" with a radius of 20 feet.

Let alone kicking the door, even if Gao Fei sang "Goddess Splitting the View" on the spot, the two bear goblins in the room would not be able to hear it.

While the bear goblin guards have not reacted yet, Gao Fei fired his guns left and right, like a western cowboy, and fired three shots at the two of them.

The space in the guard room is very small and is completely covered by the "silent barrier".

Within this range, the sound of gunfire is suppressed.

Silent flames spewed out of the muzzle.

The silent bullets flew out of the gun chamber and embedded into the sturdy bodies of the bear goblins, stirring up a large amount of scarlet and dazzling blood.

One of the bear goblin guards was shot twice and died on the spot.

Another guard, whose skull was opened by Gao Fei's shot, fell backwards, crushed the wooden table, and fell to the ground, his eyes full of fear, his mouth wide open, spitting blood and howling.

However, his scream was suppressed by magic as soon as it left his throat, and could not be transmitted to the dormitory separated by a door.

Gao Fei walked forward and fired another shot, ending his futile struggle.

The guard room was dead silent, filled with blood.

The short and fierce raid lasted less than ten seconds in total.

The two bugbears who were attacked were unable to raise the alarm until they died.
