: A Dialogue Across Time

“Eternity is the only truth.”

“The things that change are just the reflection of eternity in the water, and they are the negative products of human’s understanding of eternity with superficial wisdom.”

When he realized it, Amber realized that he was sitting on a bed face to face with someone, but they were talking about some seemingly inexplicable topics.

Then the masked man who didn’t know him at all and had a snake-eye mask on his face pointed in one direction and said,

“Look there, there are a group of prisoners in the crypt.”

“They stayed there since childhood, bound by chains, unable to turn their heads, and could only look at the shadows on the cave wall in front of them.”

While speaking, the same scene appeared in the direction his finger pointed.

“There is a fire behind and above them, and in front of the fire there is a path across the cave.”

“There are some specific people who walked through the path carrying various equipment.”

It’s like giving a live speech, accompanied by the sound of words, flames and trails, and people passing by with props, all appearing one by one.

“The firelight cast the shadows of the utensils onto the cave wall in front of the prisoner.”

“So the prisoner naturally thinks that the shadow is the only real thing.”

“But in fact, it’s just a shadow, not the real thing.”

Amber easily understood what the other party meant.

It seems that besides language, there are other channels that convey information more abundantly.

“But those prisoners won’t care, will they?”

“They can only see the shadow, so the shadow is the reality of the prisoners at this time.”

Then Amber asked back,

“Or, if they found out that it was just a shadow, what’s the point?”

“The prisoners are bound by chains and cannot turn their heads. They can only look at the shadows on the cave wall in front of them.”

The masked man nodded and continued,

“If one of their prisoners happened to be released, turned around and saw the fire and the object.”

“He will feel dizzy at first, but it doesn’t matter, he will get used to it slowly.”

“At this moment, when he sees that there is a way to go, he will gradually walk out of the cave and see the real world under the sun.”

“He will realize that the world he lived in before was nothing buta cave. ”

“And the things that were considered real in the past are just images.”

“At this time, he has two choices.”

“One is to return to the cave and continue living the previous life.”

“Instead, stay in the real world and continue to explore the unknown.”

“I think I probably understand what you mean.”

Interrupting the conversation on the other side, Amber asked,

“In your analogy, the escaped prisoner chose to return to the cave and tried to persuade his companion to come out of the cave, right?”

The corners of the masked man’s mouth curled up, making the erected snake eyes on the mask look much softer.

“The interest and interest of the sage lies in knowable ideas.”

“The highest goal to pursue should be [goodness].”

After politely laughing, Amber said,

“I also agree with this point of view.”

“But there is one thing I am very concerned about.”

“Why in your analogy, the prisoner who came out didn’t come out by himself, but was [released]?”

“Does that mean that it doesn’t matter who the prisoner is in the real world?”

“No, this is very important.”

The masked man answered quickly and affirmatively,

“Because if someone else was enlightened to wisdom, that person might not be on the path I’m on now.”

Then he paused,

“Also, before the human soul enters the body, it already has ideas and knowledge.”

“What we call growth is actually the process of [recalling] prior knowledge.”

“This [memory] is a skill that only a few people possess.”

“So it’s a genius, a seed watched by the gods.”

Amber was taken aback for a moment, but was a little surprised by such a statement.

“You mean, the holder of the Eye of God?”

Withdrawing his hand, the displayed scene disappeared.

The masked man said,

“In the era I’m familiar with, they are the guides of the elements, the priests who listen to the will of heaven.”

“Actually, the reason why I can have a dialogue with you across time is precisely because I, as a priest, prayed for God’s will and hoped to communicate with a wise man.”

He didn’t feel confused, just like a trivial matter of course, Amber simply accepted this statement.

and then said,

“Wisdom?”

“I suspect that you have found the wrong person.”

“I don’t have any extraordinary wisdom.”

“At best, they just borrowed the wisdom of another world.”

“Hahaha……”

The masked man suddenly laughed happily.

This made Amber ask a little strangely,

“why are you laughing?”

“Is there anything good?”

“It’s a good thing.”

Very sure, the masked man who made himself restrain himself said,

“It’s a great thing.”

“A question that has been bothering me for a long time has finally been answered. Of course I am happy.”

Then he continued,

“Before the human soul enters the body, the premise of having ideas and knowledge is: the soul is immortal.”

“Even after the individual things it depends on perish, the soul can continue to survive.”

“Enter a new world, a new body, and start a new life.”

“I’ve never been able to prove that.”

“Because death is an area that is hard for me to touch as a living being.”

Amber couldn’t help frowning slightly.

Now after some conversations, she has gradually understood that the current situation is a bit special.

This is not so much a dialogue as it is a kind of subconscious communication.

So in addition to language, there are more information passed on in this communication.

“Why don’t you think that I’m a special case?”

“If you use special cases to prove your principles, then the principles will be narrow.”

“No problem.”

Very open-minded, the masked man said,

“Although what I pursue has universal principles, it also has personal pursuit of knowledge.”

“There is no contradiction between the two.”

After speaking, he stood up from the bed,

“My name is Abe for a long time.”

“Now the time is coming, can you please give me a name?”

“Although death is untouchable, at the end of my life, I still have the opportunity to verify my conjecture.”

Amber also stood up.

Then, after understanding what the other party meant, she thought about it and said,

“So, how about Leonard?”

This name doesn’t have any special meaning, it’s just what Amber thought of casually.

But to the masked man, it doesn’t really matter what his name is.

Because that was originally a conjecture that might not have any results.

“Thank you very much, I…”

As if the distance suddenly became very far away, the masked man’s voice suddenly became inaudible.

Amber could only see the opening and closing of his mouth under the mask.

But its mouth shape is not any language that I am familiar with.

Then, Amber, who was about to say something, was anxious, but he opened his eyes and saw the beautiful side face of Yula who was close at hand…
