Sherlock Holmes at Hogwarts
#84 - The Birth of a King
Facing the spectacle in the Gryffindor common room, Hermione felt bewildered.
Hadn't Sherlock just deducted sixty points from Gryffindor?
And earned a detention!
Why was everyone acting like it was nothing?
She even spotted Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw students in the crowd.
Now she understood where the Weasley twins got their food from.
With Hufflepuffs here, there was no shortage of treats.
"Slytherin is so despicable!"
"They're always cheating behind the referee's back during matches!"
"In the last game, they fouled maliciously, nearly knocking our Chaser off their broom!"
"Exactly, I heard Marcus Flint has Korean heritage!"
"Really? No wonder!"
Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff were united in their animosity, fiercely criticizing Slytherin.
A tall, handsome Hufflepuff student raised his butterbeer high:
"That's right, a toast to Holmes for defeating the vile Slytherins!"
"What, you're drinking alcohol?"
Hermione was even more astonished.
"Come on, Granger! You grew up in the Muggle world!"
George Weasley said with a grin.
Fred Weasley followed up, "It's just alcohol! Why are you so shocked?"
Hermione: (·w)/☆
The Weasley twins had a point.
Although the legal drinking age in Britain was 18, the law also stated that children over the age of 5 could legally drink under parental supervision.
So, for a wizard like Sherlock who grew up in the Muggle world, it was almost certain that he had been exposed to alcohol before.
"B-but—"
Before Hermione could say more, George Weasley shouted:
"Everyone, Holmes is our king!"
"Hail the Lion King!"
Fred Weasley immediately chimed in.
Harry and Ron exchanged a look and roared, "Lion King Holmes, Holmes is our king!"
Neville, Seamus, Dean, and others naturally joined in.
The Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff students also cheered.
Those who had consulted Sherlock before were especially loud.
Hermione was completely numb.
She couldn't understand how things had turned out this way.
And she had been so worried before...
Not just Hermione, even Sherlock himself was a little surprised.
In fact, before the match today, he and Hagrid were in the headmaster's office.
Under the shadow of Sherlock's "brewing the dragon egg into a potion," Hagrid finally honestly confessed to Dumbledore how he obtained the dragon egg.
Once the matter was clarified, Quirrell was exposed without a doubt. Just as Sherlock had said, dealing with a dragon egg was nothing to someone like Dumbledore.
But Quirrell's deliberate approach to Hagrid and his attempts to extract information aroused Dumbledore's concern.
Besides this, Hagrid had another reason for seeing Dumbledore.
The Forbidden Forest had been restless recently.
So Hagrid immediately reported to Dumbledore.
When Dumbledore asked for Hagrid's opinion, he unhesitatingly recommended Sherlock.
"Sir, you might not believe this—oh, Merlin's beard!
Every time I mention this, I find it amazing. Do you know what that little fellow did?
He told me about my past the moment he saw me and knew about me retrieving the Philosopher's Stone from Gringotts for you—
Also, I didn't even say anything this time, and he knew I had gotten a dragon egg!
It's amazing!
I even suspect he can read minds like you!"
Dumbledore: (;'A
"Calm down, Rubeus. I have never possessed such an ability, and neither does Sherlock."
Dumbledore looked at the excited Hagrid and couldn't help but feel a little embarrassed.
Even a wise old man like him didn't know if he should tell Hagrid the truth.
Not to mention Sherlock, even that young Weasley wizard could get the truth out of him with a little bit of brainpower.
Dumbledore ultimately said nothing.
The truth was too hurtful.
However, Dumbledore was very interested in Hagrid's strong recommendation to let Sherlock investigate the Forbidden Forest.
He decided to hear Sherlock's opinion.
When Sherlock arrived at the headmaster's office and saw Hagrid, he immediately understood what had happened.
"Mr. Sherlock, Rubeus has told me about the dragon egg."
Dumbledore gave Sherlock a warm smile. "It seems Voldemort couldn't help himself."
"Obviously."
Sherlock put his hands together to support his chin, staring at Dumbledore with bright eyes. "So, Headmaster, when are you planning to take action?"
"Not yet," Dumbledore met Sherlock's gaze. "I need your help."
"Is it my help or Harry's help?"
"Specifically, it's your help."
Dumbledore paused and said with emotion:
"Sherlock, you know, every time I see you, I can't help but think of a deceased friend."
Dumbledore's remark immediately reminded Sherlock of something.
The pair of thick white wool socks in the Mirror of Erised.
Combining Dumbledore's expression at this moment, Sherlock replied without thinking:
"I think this deceased friend must have a close relationship with you and been entangled with you for most of your life, right?"
Dumbledore: ( 'D')
☆
He was right.
This little wizard was too perceptive!
"I need you to go to the Forbidden Forest," Dumbledore consciously avoided the topic and directly stated his request. "With your ability, you will definitely be able to find out the truth."
Sherlock didn't dwell on it either.
He was more interested in Dumbledore's wording.
He leaned forward slightly, his eyes gleaming with excitement:
"The truth?"
"Hagrid will tell you what happened."
Dumbledore shook his head. "But Quidditch is about to start, and you still have to watch Harry's game, right?
I'll find a way to get you detention as soon as possible so that Hagrid can take you to patrol the Forbidden Forest together."
"Too deliberate."
"What?"
"I said your arrangement is too deliberate," Sherlock sighed. "I'll find a chance to get detention myself."
Looking at Dumbledore, Sherlock silently added in his heart, and by the way, I can openly beat up classmates.
Ending his recollection, Sherlock looked at the excited students around him and couldn't help but shake his head.
Even though he was good at reasoning, he was still a little surprised by this scene.
But thinking about it carefully, this result was unexpected but also reasonable.
After all, for the Gryffindor lions, not winning the House Cup was not a serious matter.
They had long been accustomed to being at the bottom of the House Cup.
Even without these things, they were often deducted points.
Anyway, they were always last. As long as they weren't deducted to zero points, it didn't matter if they had more or fewer points.
It was just that Slytherin had won six consecutive championships, which was a little unbearable.
But now.
Sherlock had beaten up Slytherins in public with a first-year student.
The key was that they had won!
This was too exciting.
Even Percy, who was always rigid and took violating school rules as seriously as Hermione, was smiling.
"Holmes did very well this time, but I think he could have done better—"
"Prefect Weasley, don't worry about the process at this time!"
Perhaps influenced by alcohol, the tall, handsome Hufflepuff put his arm around Percy.
He said to him with a bright smile, "This is honor, a greater honor than the House Cup!"
"Cedric, you——"
Percy had just frowned when the Weasley twins led the stretcher team onto the field and carried him aside.
George Weasley took the opportunity to pinch his head and shake it from side to side.
"Never mind Percy. It's not good to say such a disappointing thing at such a happy time!"
"That's right, look, even Granger hasn't spoken!"
Hermione: ((*·V·)→→
Feeling like she had been offended.
That night, the party in the Gryffindor common room lasted until very late.
However, the aftermath of this matter was far from over.
"It's over there, look quickly."
"Where, where?"
"Between Harry Potter and that red-haired boy."
"The tall one?"
"Did you see his face?"
"Did you see his big nose?"
The next day, after Sherlock walked out of the dormitory, these whispers followed him closely.
Students lined up outside the classrooms, all on tiptoes, wanting to see his true face.
In the corridor, they walked past Sherlock, then turned back, staring at him intently.
"This scene is familiar—"
Ron couldn't help but complain.
Harry was extremely happy.
Especially when he heard "between Harry Potter and that red-haired boy," he almost laughed out loud.
When school first started, he had also been watched so intensely, and he remembered being very distressed at that time.
Now it was Sherlock's turn to enjoy the same treatment as him.
He could finally become the background!
Unlike him, Ron pouted. "Why are you Harry, and I'm just the red-haired boy—.."
Harry: ((*··)→→
So—is it my fault?
Harry and Ron were discussing enthusiastically, but Sherlock, the object of their observation and discussion, turned a deaf ear to it all.
Harry and Ron didn't know that Sherlock had already endured this kind of intense observation when he was in Muggle school.
Students of that age were more lively than now.
Not long after Muggle school started, Sherlock showed his talent.
So everyone was interested in this classmate who "could tell you what you did today just by looking at you."
Of course, interest was interest, but that didn't mean they would get along peacefully, and it was absolutely impossible to be friends.
Mainly because this student was too sharp-tongued.
Everyone treated him as a freak. Besides curiosity, there was more malice in that intense observation.
If Sherlock's own strength hadn't been strong enough, he would have been bullied all the time.
So, in this regard alone, Harry was much happier than Sherlock.
Because he had Sherlock, Ron, and Hermione by his side.
Sherlock was alone.
But that was in the past.
The current Sherlock was no longer alone.
