Soviet Union 1991
Main text Chapter 123: Burning Hell
(End of the fourth update)
After the final dying struggle, Grozny finally faced a difficult situation with the enemy at the gates. When the Soviet army surrounded the entire city from all directions, no matter how many Western weapons the defenders in the city had, they could not change the reality that they were surrounded.
Seeing that the fruits of victory were within reach, the superiors issued an order to prohibit the armored forces from advancing. Although they were somewhat dissatisfied with this order, the troops still followed the orders of the top leaders conscientiously and once again remained on the sidelines. Establish an encirclement around Grozny.
Grozny means terrible and cruel in the local dialect of Chechnya. The city of Grozny, which was built in 1918, was designed as a combat fortress. The fortresses in the city were as dense as a spider web, easy to defend and difficult to attack. So Yanayev would not make the same mistake that Yeltsin made back then.
Engels' air force base dispatched nearly fifteen strategic bombers and launched the "Black Friday" offensive on Friday, preparing nearly 170 solidified gasoline-oil bombs to flatten the entire Grozny.
The white-hot war calmed down temporarily, and both sides were resting and preparing to fight again. Even the most brutal war could not stop the devout Muslims from praying. They knelt on the ground and prostrated themselves in the direction of Mecca, muttering something. The mercenaries sent by the US CIA squatted in the corner, watching the empty street vigilantly.
The bodies of the Chechen militants of the Wahhabi faction fell in the middle of the road, and no one cleaned them up. No one dared to step out of the house. Because the Soviet snipers were watching every move outside through the windows. Once the active personnel were found, they would be shot immediately.
The bodies of their comrades were torn by wild dogs. But they continued to pray, ignoring the situation outside. Even Western mercenaries couldn't stand this. If it weren't for the high salaries paid by the Chechen government and the CIA, they wouldn't want to stay here for a day.
"Islamic Wahhabi forces are the cancer of world civilization. They use war and unrest to spread extreme religious doctrines and imprison people's thoughts and freedom. They believe that other civilizations and religions are not allowed to be accepted, and even different factions of the same religion are unwilling to accept them. In short, those who do not believe in their sect are pagans who must be executed."
A former Navy SEAL suddenly remembered what an intelligence officer said, but the paunchy intelligence officer added an intriguing sentence at the end, "If they can be turned into pawns to attack the socialist camp, no matter how bad their deeds are, they are allies of the United States."
"Oh, this really fulfilled what the intelligence officer said." The mercenary threw away the empty magazine in his hand and picked up another magazine full of bullets. He thought that after this job, he would be the only one who would completely retire. The 300,000 earned during this period was enough for him to open a small bar in the countryside of California. Live the rest of his life in peace.
Whenever he closes his eyes, he will think of the children who were executed by Chechen soldiers a few days ago, just because they were Sufis. He originally wanted to stop the Chechens from doing it, but his companion stopped him and told him not to meddle in other people's business.
"Because this is Chechnya, not America," said his companion.
Because of this incident, he felt guilty for a long time, especially when he was sleeping, he would always dream of the innocent eyes of those children and the poor heads hanging on the electric poles.
There was a buzzing sound of mosquitoes in his ears, and the mercenary couldn't help but look up and look out the window. There seemed to be some small black spots in the sky ahead. Based on his past experience, he initially determined that it was a bomber or other fighter model.
"Huh? What sound?" The companion also noticed that something was wrong, and he secretly kicked the mercenary who stood up to observe. The other party covered his mouth and whispered, "The Soviets sent bombers to flatten the city."
"Ah?" The companion was a little panicked. He glanced at the Chechen soldiers who were praying beside him, pointed at them and asked, "Should we remind them?"
The former SEAL shook his head and whispered, "It's enough for the two of us to know. There are air defense facilities under this building, which are prepared for enemy bombing. Let's pretend not to care and sneak over."
"But so they are also allies. Wouldn't it be too extreme to do this?" The companion frowned and asked.
"Extreme, yes, we have to do it to the extreme." The mercenary said coldly. He didn't like these Chechens at all, so he wished they would die. The mercenary pretended to stand up and go outside to collect intelligence. His companion followed him out, and the Chechen soldiers who were praying did not find anything wrong. The two quietly entered the isolation facility and closed the thick door.
A dozen Tu-95 bombers finally reached the sky above Grozny. This densely packed fortress city could resist the invasion of armored forces, but without anti-aircraft guns, they could not stop the Soviet bombers that had absolute air superiority.
Each pilot aimed at his or her target and dropped solidified gasoline-oil bombs on this nearly 100-year-old city. The dense fortresses and buildings could not resist the spread of the fire, and the dry climate also provided ample opportunities for the fire to burn.
It was not until a ball of orange-red hot fireball sprang up from the ground that the praying soldiers realized that the Soviet army had chosen to launch an air strike on their Friday prayer day. They wanted to go to the air defense facilities to take shelter, but the door had already been closed by the mercenaries who had taken the lead, and it was useless for them to knock outside.
Wherever the solidified gasoline-oil-bombs passed, there was a sea of burning fire. Those who were stained with gelatinous gasoline could not put out the burning flames on their bodies at all, and they were allowed to tear their skin and turn into black charcoal. Many Chechens who were not killed by the bombing struggled painfully in the sea of fire. Just as described in the scriptures, the sinners will be punished in hell.
The solidified gasoline-oil-bombs dropped by the bombers burst into fireballs in major areas of Grozny, and the houses were engulfed by the blazing flames. The soldiers trapped in the building did not even have a chance to escape, and were choked to death by the terrible smoke.
Grozny suddenly became a hell. Except for a few soldiers who were lucky enough to hide in the underground air defense facilities, most people did not have time to escape because of praying. The last soldier who ran into the air raid shelter turned around and saw those monsters who were burned beyond recognition struggling in the sea of fire, trying to crawl towards the location of the air defense facilities.
On this day, Grozny became a burning ruin. The raging flames quickly spread throughout the city. From a distance, the flames that illuminated the sky could be seen, sending all the believers of the Chechen extremist doctrine into the hell of fire. (To be continued.)
