The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus can only relocate its capital to a city further north to settle down.

At the beginning, the President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Rauf Latif Denktash, strongly opposed the peace plan. He believed that this was a violation of the territorial integrity of the Turkish people, and hoped to continue to promote the development of the war and counterattack the Cypriot National Army. However, reality no longer allows the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus to be willful. After accepting a large number of second-hand tanks from the Soviet Union, the Cyprus Joint Army created the illusion of a large number of armored forces pressing the line on the confrontation green line. It seems that once the war breaks out, the Cyprus National Guard, supported by Greece and the Soviet Union, will spread the flames of war to the northern part. Cyprus is not unprepared at the moment, and war is always ready.

This sleight of hand has been extremely successful. Turkey is already at the end of its strength. Mario withdrew from the Aegean dispute for the sake of the overall situation, and hinted that Turkey has gained enough benefits and should not think about trying to provoke the dispute again. Facing the Cypriot joint army armed to the teeth by the Soviet Red Army, Maziel did not have the courage and foundation to die with honor for a while.

The current situation can only be negotiated. Both sides sat down. Clerides and Denktash, one supporting the Greeks to unify Cyprus, and the other supporting the Turkish split regime, the two leaders who are as hostile as fire and water sat together. However, a plan proposed by UN Secretary-General Annan at this time aroused Yanayev's vigilance. UN Secretary-General Annan proposed to combine the northern and southern halves of Cyprus in a confederation-like form similar to Switzerland to form the United Republic of Cyprus. Both sides maintain independence and sovereignty, but in name it is a unified country. However, in order to successfully reform this plan, both the north and the south need to agree to this proposal in referendums held simultaneously but separately. This is a plan submitted by the United Nations for the peaceful development of Cyprus.

Annan proposed a similar plan in 2004, but the actual voting result was that the residents of northern Cyprus generally accepted the Annan plan and passed the proposal with a rate of 64.9%, but on the contrary, the Greek community in southern Cyprus strongly opposed the proposal, casting a high of 75.83% of the votes against it, and the Annan plan failed. The reason why the Greek community and the government opposed it was that they believed that the content of the Annan plan continued the spirit of the constitution originally formulated by the United Kingdom and tended to protect the rights and interests of the Turks.

This plan was recognized by the United States and Turkey. As long as the government is not controlled by the Greeks, they are willing to form a coalition government. After all, they believe that they are the vested interests of this land.

However, in order to add an insurance, Yanayev still called Clerides, suggesting that he secretly resisted the Annan plan proposed by the United Nations and did not want to achieve a coalition government-style unification.

Yanayev said to Clerides, "The Annan Plan is nothing more than a compromise product to prevent the unification of Cyprus. They are trying to protect the actual interests of the Turks and prevent the Greeks from liberating the entire Cyprus country. Do you understand what I mean? President Clerides. Yanayev repeatedly brainwashed the Turks, comparing the Cyprus Joint Forces to the original Spartan warriors and freedom fighters who resisted the tyrants. Now the northern regime is trying to control your evil dictatorship again and unify the country.

"But... this is a proposal from the United Nations. If we don't comply, the whole world will have reasons to blame us." Clerides hesitated and said, "If I do this, it will be difficult for me as the president. The pressure from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will be even greater."

In Cyprus, where extreme nationalism has the upper hand in public opinion, it is not difficult to distort the true meaning of something. When everyone believes that Cyprus belongs to Greece, otherwise how could the Bosnian Serbs have persisted for so many years under the UN air strikes.

The ethnic hatred accumulated over the years can make a nation unprecedentedly united and high-spirited.

Yanayev gave Clerides a suggestion, "The United Nations has put forward a proposal that has always been favorable to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, continuing the spirit of the constitution formulated by the United Kingdom. It deeply violates the interests of the Greek people. Therefore, the government has widely publicized the insidious practices of the United Nations and called on the people to seek an agreement that can better protect the interests of the Greek ethnic group."

On the surface, Greece is announcing to the people the irrationality of this proposal, but in fact it is inciting the people to resist this UN proposal and fight for the freedom and unity of Greece. Under the exaggeration of extreme patriotism, the failure of the Annan plan is also reasonable, and Yanayev is just going with the flow.

After all, if a coalition government is established, Cyprus will not need to provide an air force military base for the Soviet Union. This is undoubtedly a huge blow to the Soviet Union's strategic deployment.
