StarCraft: Becoming the Zerg Overlord
Chapter 387 Encounter
Mike couldn't help but raise his arms to protect his face, and screamed at the same time.
His scream was drowned in the sound of a Gaussian magnetic gun firing.
Mike looked up and saw the huge snake-like monster twisting and trembling under the ruthless bullets of the magnetic gun.
It struggled and rolled, and the body covered by the carapace sprayed out deadly venom, splashing on the nearby ground like a rainstorm.
A bullet hit the fuel tank of the jeep, and the flames rose and covered the entire body.
The snake-like monster fell into the flames, and it let out bursts of howling, like a curse, and like a dying wail.
The jeep exploded with a "boom", and the air wave flipped Mike to the ground, and the hot ground burned his uncovered face and arms.
He glanced at the street below, and there were no active skinned dogs, only a few of their corpses, lying on the street.
There was a sudden noise behind him, and he quickly rolled on the ground.
He thought more skinned dogs were coming, but as he rolled over he realized he was wrong. He saw that it was a pair of booted feet, not paws, that made the noise.
A huge figure blocked the sunlight.
Broad shoulders, a grenade launcher in a worn holster, hanging behind his buttocks.
Mike was a little dazed, and the first thing he thought of was another soldier in Emily's squadron. During the time they were apart, the lieutenant had somehow sent a notice and summoned reinforcements.
But when he could see more clearly, he realized that the man was not wearing a Marine uniform.
His pants were made of rough deerskin and were worn.
He wore a faded coarse cotton shirt, which was neat and turned up at the cuffs.
A light canvas combat vest, slightly open on the chest, made him look a bit military.
He had a magnetic Gauss rifle slung over his shoulder.
The boots were a nice style, but like the rest of his clothes, they were worn.
"Are you all right, kid?" The man held out his hand.
Mike grabbed the hand that was extended to him and slowly stood up.
He felt a large scratch on his body and heard the cold and low voice of the man in buckskin pants.
"Fortunately, you are still alive." He said breathlessly, "You don't look like a Marine."
Mike only saw the face of the man who saved him now, with beautiful sandy blond hair, neatly trimmed lip mustache and beard.
The man spat, "Not a Marine? That sounds like a compliment to me. I am a local law enforcement officer. My name is Marshall Jim Reno."
"Michael Liberty, UNN, Tarsonis."
"News reporter? You are a bit far from home, right?" Reno asked.
Mike nodded, "Yes, we came here to get some information! God!"
"What?"
"Emily! Lieutenant! She is still in the mining office!" Mike stumbled towards the house, and Reno took the gun off his shoulder, held it in his hand, and followed closely.
After the jeep exploded, there was no further sign of the dog-like monster's activity.
Mike found Lieutenant Emily, face down, still half hanging over the pit, one hand holding her fighting knife, the other hand clinging to the floor of the pit.
"Help, come over and give me a hand," Mike said, grabbing Emily's knife arm and pulling up, "We can pull her up, and then oh my god!"
