Chapter 10 The Conscience of a Merchant

Tuna Hotel, ordinary guest room on the second floor.

As soon as Rosen opened the door, a strong herbal smell hit his face.

Dallet frowned, raised his hand and slapped his nose gently: "Mr. Robin, I can't get used to the smell of herbs, let's just stand at the door and talk?"

Rosen was overjoyed: "I'm afraid that my secret will be revealed, so it's better if I don't go in."

But there was a hint of 'displeasure' on his face, as if he felt that Dallet didn't respect his wife enough. After being silent for a few seconds, he finally nodded.

"As you wish, sir."

The two of them stopped at the door, five or six meters away from Selena's 'hospital bed'.

Dallet glanced at the hospital bed and saw a middle-aged woman with a pale complexion, sunken eyes, and dull eyes.

With just one glance, he felt that the life force was draining from this woman at a speed visible to the naked eye. It would not be surprising even if the woman died in the next moment.

He subconsciously took half a step back so that he could be further away from the other party.

"Mr. Robin, your wife's condition looks very bad."

Robin is, of course, Rosen’s pseudonym.

He nodded miserably: "I tried my best, but it was useless. No, I was the one who harmed her. I shouldn't have let her get wet in that damn rain!"

Dallet could tell that there was a story in it, but he was not interested in it at all. He only cared about the little boy Rosen was holding and how to get this boy.

He looked at the poor woman on the hospital bed again, and suddenly realized that this woman looked very similar to Adam. If she was healthy, she must be a very beautiful woman.

It suddenly dawned on her heart: "No wonder she could give birth to such a beautiful child as Adam. No wonder Robin knew she had a child and was willing to marry her and still love her so much."

There is no way, women with beautiful faces are favored by fate.

Dallet thought he had figured out the situation, and a vague plan gradually emerged in his mind.

Out of the shrewd instinct of a successful businessman, he carefully observed the guest room in front of him again.

Not because he found any loopholes, but to find more trump cards for negotiation.

When Rosen saw this, he still didn't understand Dallet's thoughts, and immediately activated his spiritual whisper to Selena: "Hurry up and cough."

‘Cough cough~~~Cough cough cough~~~Cough cough cough~~~’

Selena coughed heartbrokenly, coughing, and suddenly took out a handkerchief and covered her mouth.

When the handkerchief was taken away, there were obviously bright red blood stains on the white handkerchief.

Rosen was 'shocked' and apologized to Dallet: "Sir, please wait for me outside. I have to take care of my wife."

He quickly walked over and left Dallet hanging by the door.

Dallet, who still had the inclination to observe, immediately retreated to the corridor, and even wanted to turn around and leave.

Because he is worried that the other party's disease will be contagious.

But the moment he turned around, he saw the little boy again.

This cute little thing was leaning against the door with his hands clasped behind his back. He was looking down at his little leather shoes with a sad look on his face.

After just one glance, Dallet couldn't help but lament in his heart.

‘Oh~ Mother Nature, how could there be such a perfect little person in the world~~ He’s just grown on my heart~’

He clearly felt that if he didn't get this cute little thing, he would regret it for the rest of his life.

So, he stopped, took out the greatest patience in his life, and waited quietly.

About half a quarter of an hour later, the miserable young man appeared at the door again, looking at Dallet with an apologetic look.

"Sir, I'm sorry that you have seen such a scene. Now that you know our situation, if nothing happens, see you again."

With that said, he took Adam's hand and was about to return to the room.

Dallet stepped forward and raised his hand to hold the door.

"Don't worry man, I think we should have a talk."

"Just the two of us talk, don't let the children hear."

Rosen nodded and patted Adam's head gently: "Be good~ Go to the room and stay for a while."

Adam nodded and entered the room meekly.

Rosen and Dallet were the only two people left outside the door.

Dallet took out his pipe, lit it, took a deep breath, and hid his face behind the lingering smoke.

He likes this because it prevents his counterpart from observing his expression.

"Mr. Robin, are you short of money?"

Rosen was silent for a while, seeming a little embarrassed, but finally nodded dejectedly.

"Yes, I was short of money and I spent almost all my savings to save my wife."

This is completely consistent with what Dallet observed. A smile of victory appeared on his face: "I have an idea, do you want to hear it?"

Rosen nodded slightly.

‘Ba Zi~~’

Dallet took another deep breath from his pipe and blew out a thick ring of smoke. At the same time, he quietly placed the sapphire gold ring on his right thumb in the most eye-catching place.

"I am a businessman, and my business is quite successful. I am not short of money, but I am short of dignity."

"In my hometown, the Kingdom of Kaa thousands of miles away, those decent people like to find a few beautiful attendants to decorate their appearance."

"As it happens, your stepson Adam is very beautiful."

Rosen had a look of 'surprise', and after 'surprise' came 'anger', but he tried hard to suppress his anger, and only made a fist and smashed the wall, making a muffled 'bang' sound.

"Sir, I respect you, but you want me to sell Adam?!"

"No! It's absolutely impossible! Adam is my wife's beloved child. Without him, my wife can't survive a day!"

"I will never sell it, you don't have to say anything!"

After saying that, he turned around and left.

Just before he turned around and took a step, Dalette grabbed his shoulder, and a voice as low as the devil's temptation came from behind.

"Mr. Robin, I can see that you are an upright person, and I respect you very much."

Rosen 'suppressed' his anger and roared like a wounded lion.

"In this case, you shouldn't make such outrageous demands!"

"It's my fault. My fault was that I didn't explain the situation clearly."

"how?"

Rosen's anger 'dissipated' a little, and he turned around again, his eyes inquiring.

Dallet smiled and said: "Mr. Robin, I am not buying your stepson, but hiring your stepson."

"After hiring him, I will treat him well, educate him, and let him grow up well. At the same time, I will give Adam a good salary and let you save your wife."

"When your wife recovers from her illness, you can bring her to me. She can see her child at any time, and she will find that her child has been living well."

Having said this, Dallet took another deep breath from his pipe and smiled gently.

"Mr. Robin, everyone needs to work. You need it, I need it, and Adam needs it too. We all rely on work to support ourselves."

"Adam was able to use his salary to save his mother's life at a young age. Isn't this a gratifying thing?"

"As for me, in business, I may be losing money a little bit, but in conscience, I'm making a lot of money!"

"Perhaps Mother Nature, for the sake of this, will let me live the rest of my life in peace and happiness."

This statement is impeccable.

If Rosen had not carefully investigated, an ordinary person would definitely think that Dallet was a gentleman with a kind heart and noble character.

So, Rosen 'hesitated': "This is not a trivial matter. I have to discuss it with my wife."

Dallet nodded: "No problem, just tell your wife."

"You said that I will advance Adam's salary for ten years in one lump sum, which is about um, 300 gold Oggs, to help him treat his mother's illness."

Rosen's eyes lit up, and his face showed gratitude: "Okay, sir, you are such a good person."

Dallet laughed: "I'm not a good person, I just have some sympathy."

"Okay, go ahead and discuss it. If your wife agrees, come find me in the VIP guest room on the fourth floor."

"Just ask any attendant and ask for Mr. Dallet, and he will lead you to me."

After saying that, Dallet turned and left.

He suppressed the excitement in his heart and made his steps appear clean. He waited until he was out of Mr. Robin's sight before he let out a long breath.

"Hopefully it will work out."

He thought this as he walked all the way back to the guest room.

But as he walked, he became a little worried.

"This little boy is so pretty, but something feels wrong."

"Could it have been transformed using the Transfiguration Technique?"

It is most normal to use transformation to disguise yourself.

In order to achieve a glamorous image, nobles would use transfiguration to cover up their flaws when attending major gatherings.

He's done it many times himself.

Although all signs pointed to the little boy being original, it was always wise to err on the side of caution in a foreign country.

"If the little boy really delivers it, let Belkan help me inspect the goods carefully."

He thought so.

Belkan was the mage he had trained since he was a child, and he was also his magic advisor. He was loyal and capable, and was one of his best assistants when he went abroad to do business.

Many scams and traps were exposed by Belkan.
