Stupid Odin

#21 - Thor

Besides these three palaces, to show that they had no ambition to seize power, Paul and his wife, Odin, and Vili each built three bronze-clad palaces on the back side of the mountain where the Golden Palace stood.

Although bronze looks golden from a distance, those who know, know.

Their voluntary actions also spread to the lower realm through the mouths of the craftsmen.

Mortals began to distinguish each other's status by the clasps on their shawls. If they used ornate, carved gold clasps, they were nobles; if they used simple bronze clasps, they were commoners.

Having only palaces might be too monotonous.

Near the palace complex were branches of the World Tree, and various creatures lived around it.

For example, the wild boar Sæhrímnir was a source of meat, cooked daily by the chef Andhrímnir in a magic cauldron [Eldhrímnir], but every night, Brother Boar would be resurrected on the spot.

The stag Eikþyrnir and the goat Heiðrún stood in the valley beside Valhalla, eating the leaves of the Læraðr tree. Heiðrún's milk was unparalleled mead and could produce a large barrel (giant-sized), while Eikþyrnir's antlers dripped dew into the Hvergelmir spring.

There was also a rooster, Gullinkambi, living on the roof. Now it was unremarkable, but after that prophecy appeared, its crowing would herald the beginning of Ragnarök.

Just as the several palaces were being completed, the giantess Jörð began to give birth.

Everything happened so suddenly.

One second, the weather in Asgard was clear and sunny; the next second, it was suddenly overcast with dark clouds and a fierce wind.

The uninformed would have thought some evil demon was attacking.

Whether they were craftsmen working, giants feasting, or Aesir gods doing other things, they were all startled by this sudden change.

One after another, they rushed out of their houses, and what came into view was a strange sight—the other areas of Asgard were still sunny and calm, but above the rear hall of the Silver Hall, where Jörð was, thick thunderclouds piled layer upon layer.

The wind stood still, and every leaf on the branches of the World Tree drooped.

It seemed like it was about to rain, but not a single drop fell.

Silence reigned between heaven and earth, with only the increasingly loud thunder resounding throughout Asgard.

Tang Si spread out his senses and discovered that in the Elemental Sea, all the other attribute elements avoided it.

Only the wind-based power of thunder was exceptionally active.

Several Aesir gods could clearly feel that the laws above the Silver Hall were deviating, and laws that did not belong to thunder were tactfully making way.

This was the will of the world allowing a completely new god to begin to descend.

Soon, the domineering power of lightning began to dominate the sky, even attempting to encroach on certain areas it shouldn't touch.

Interestingly, after these lightning bolts faintly touched Tang Si's domain, they quickly shrank back, expressing their respect and obedience in the form of elements.

Tang Si widened his eyes, and the divine light in his deep pupils transcended time and space.

He suddenly understood—in fact, when Jörð's belly grew large, he wasn't sure what kind of child she would give birth to. As it turned out, he didn't need to think at all; this was the instinctive choice of the world's will.

The Jötunheimr world needed a thunder god, and who the thunder god's son was was not important to the world.

Tang Si was the God-King, so he was Tang Si's son!

Before long, Bestla, who was busy acting as a midwife, finally came out, holding a baby who was 2 meters tall and weighed at least 200 pounds.

Yes, just born, 200 pounds, a child!

This scene made Tang Si's eyes twitch a little.

Considering that the child's mother was a giantess over 20 meters tall, as tall as a seven-story building, this didn't seem unacceptable.

Compared to the stunned expressions of Paul, Odin, and Vili, Bestla's reaction was very natural. This was the first fourth-generation god of the Aesir!

Out of the instinct for survival and reproduction, Bestla, who had been promoted to grandmother, couldn't close her mouth with joy. She might not care whether her son was the God-King, but she definitely cared whether her son had offspring. A powerful god clan descendant was a guarantee of the Aesir clan's enduring strength. This would also give all the giants and mortals who depended on the Aesir clan an object to extend their loyalty to.

"Dear Tang Si, have you thought about what name to give the child?"

Outside the Silver Hall, thunder roared.

The air in the hall was filled with the sacredness familiar to the gods, and it shouldn't even be called a sanctuary, but rather a ancestral hall.

In the main hall, the statue of the ancestor Búri stood above, his eyes made of black agate, seeming to gaze at his great-grandson with a profound gaze. His statue seemed to be smiling…

At this moment, listening to the thunder outside the window, Tang Si also smiled.

"Thor! Thor, the God of Thunder—"

"Rumble rumble rumble!" The heavens and earth shook with a loud noise, more dark clouds gathered, and continuous thunder roared. The spirits of lightning seemed to be declaring their allegiance to the new god in this way!

Paul was also very happy. He laughed and took Thor from Bestla's hands: "Let grandpa hold you."

Little did he know that it seemed that Paul's technique was too rough, or that Paul's figure, which was only a mere 5 meters tall, was too 'petite'. Thor felt uncomfortable, and he raised his chubby fist, the size of a casserole, and punched the old man's left eye socket.

"Ah!" Paul was brutally beaten. His eye socket turned black at a speed visible to the naked eye.

The worst thing was that he had nowhere to complain.

Who told him to stick his big mouth, like a black bear, with a big beard, and as a result, he was brutally beaten by his good grandson.

Seeing his eye socket turn black, this good grandson Thor actually giggled.

"Pfft!"

"Hoo hoo!"

"Hahahahaha!"

All the gods laughed, and only Paul's injured world was born.

Thor grew very quickly. As a child with three-quarters giant blood, his genes were unexpectedly good. He didn't seem a bit clumsy like in the epic [Edda], but was relatively smart, and his physical fitness was astonishingly strong.

At just two years old, he could lift his grandfather Paul, who was more than five meters tall and weighed more than 800 pounds, like a barbell…

With the birth of the two male gods Tyr and Víðarr, the possibility of the Aesir clan dying out was completely non-existent.

In a sense, Tang Si had to thank the Aesir clan for this almost primitive and barbaric custom. His parents didn't force him to marry any giantess as his wife. After all, Paul had directly knocked Bestla unconscious on the battlefield with a stick and carried her back, cooking the rice before it was ripe.

Most giantesses were casual and admired the strong. Having children with Tang Si and living with Tang Si were two completely different things. Some stayed in Asgard, and some returned to Jötunheimr to live.

Just in the year that Thor was four years old, the magical cow Auðumbla finally did something for Tang Si.
