Chapter 15 Graduation Trip

After taking the group photo, the graduation ceremony ended.

On the way back, John asked Joe: "Have you decided which school to go to?"

"Not sure yet, now I have to choose between Massachusetts and Harvard." Qiao replied with a smile.

"You can make your own decision. Mary and I respect your opinion on this matter," John said.

"Well, I will consider it."

"Carol? What are you going to do after graduation?" John turned to Carol and asked.

"Go, go, join the army." Carol whispered.

"What?"

"join the army."

"I don't agree!"

John didn't like Carol joining the army, "What do girls do in the army?"

"What's wrong with girls? Girls can't join the army?" Carol retorted. "You are patriarchal. You just look down on women. Mary, he looks down on us."

"You," John couldn't continue.

"Baby, I don't recommend you to join the army either." Mary said gently on the side.

"Why?" Carol felt a little aggrieved.

"That was too tiring and hard work. John and I don't want you to suffer."

"I love it, Mary. It's always been my dream to join the army!"

"Anyway, I don't agree with you becoming a soldier." John said angrily from the front.

"I'm eighteen years old and I can make my own decisions!" Carol said.

The conversation ended here, and no one mentioned the matter again.

Three more days passed.

Joe is a little bored at home.

"Gotta find something to do." He thought.

After thinking for a while, "How about going out for a walk?"

To be honest, I have been in this world for more than ten years and I haven’t had much time to go out and play.

"We can go on a graduation trip."

Joe came up with a good idea. He planned to go on a trip, but he hadn't decided on the destination yet.

"We can't stay at home every day!" Joe thought to himself, "Go ask Carol if she can get out."

Just do what comes to mind, and Joe goes to find Carol.

"Carol, let's go on a trip!" Seeing Carol, Joe directly stated the topic.

"Okay, where are you going?" Carol was also bored at home. She had been having a cold war with John in the past two days, and she didn't feel comfortable staying at home.

"Uh, I haven't thought about it yet." Qiao said sarcastically.

"I have a good idea, let's go to New York." Carol suggested.

"New York? Okay." Since I don't know where to go, it would be nice to go to New York.

"When do we leave?" Carol asked.

"Tomorrow? Let's talk to Mary and the others and we'll leave tomorrow," said Joe.

"Okay, do you have the funds?" Carol suddenly asked a very important question, "Do you have money?"

"One more thing, the school gave me a lot of scholarship left, probably more than a thousand dollars."

Joe thought for a while and answered.

"Okay, I still have more than five hundred, which should be enough."

"You are actually rich?" Joe was surprised. Carol, like most Americans, had no savings at all.

"Who are you looking down on?" Carol rolled her eyes at Joe angrily, "I'm not the one who lent you money to spend when you were a kid!"

Speaking of this, Qiao remembered, "Are you sure you borrowed it?"

"certainly."

"Okay." Joe was too lazy to argue with Carol about this issue.

The family was having dinner at the dinner table in the evening, and Joe mentioned it: "Mary, Carol and I are going to New York tomorrow."

"Why do you suddenly want to go to New York?" Mary asked.

"It's too boring to stay at home. We want to go out for a walk and go to that school for a while," said Qiao.

"Okay, then you should pay attention to your safety when you go out to play." Mary simply mentioned without saying much.

They have grown up now, and Mary no longer insists on everything.

"Do you have enough money?" John suddenly said.

"It adds up to more than fifteen hundred US dollars, which should be enough."

"I'll lend you a little, not much, five hundred. Don't worry too much and hurt yourself," John said.

These are the parents!

She didn't say anything, but in her heart she still hoped that her child would live a good life.

"No need." Joe hesitated, "I think that's enough."

"Take it." John put the money directly into Joe's hand, "I've been out there and I know how hard it will be if you don't have enough money."

"Okay." Knowing that John had made up his mind, Joe didn't say much and put the money away.

Ten years have passed, and John and Mary look much older, with gray hair on their temples and thicker wrinkles on their faces.

They are almost fifty years old this year!

Joe only realized this problem now, and he felt bad.

"It seems that I need to find something to extend my life. Now that I am strong enough, I need to explore more mysteries of this world." Qiao said to himself, "I want the family to never be separated!"

"forever!"

Joe set a goal for himself. There are many magical things in this world, and there must be something that can make people live longer, or even get closer.

A dreamless night.

The next day, the sun had just risen, and Joe and Mary had already packed their things, not much, just two suitcases, most of which belonged to Carol, a full one and a half, and the remaining half probably belonged to Joe.

They were going to take the train to New York. As for the trip to New York, neither of them liked to make plans. They would have fun wherever they went. Anyway, the talented ones were bold.

"What are you afraid of? Unless a little boy is thrown into New York, he may be injured. Otherwise, can other attacks break through the defense?" Qiao thought to himself.

The two put their luggage in John's car, and John would take them to the train station. There was no train station in town. It had to be found in the next city, which was about ten kilometers away. It was a very small city.

"Let's go." John said.

"We're leaving." Joe and Mary said goodbye.

Mary smiled, "Go ahead."

The car started, but Mary didn't move.

Joe looked back and saw Mary still standing outside the house, watching the car drive away.

At this moment, Joe made a decision, "Go to Massachusetts!"

“Massachusetts is close to home, right in Boston.”

The atmosphere in the car was a bit awkward, and John and Carol remained silent.

John didn't speak until he arrived at the train station. "I thought about it, Carol, if you want to join the army, go ahead."

"Really?" Carol felt incredible, "I didn't expect John to not object to this."

"You have grown up, and I can't control you anymore. You can go if you want. If you can't hold it anymore, remember, there will always be a room for you in Smallville." John said emotionally.

"I love you, Dad." If John hadn't been driving now, Joe estimated that Carol would pounce on him!

"Thank you for your support. Don't worry, I will definitely be an ace pilot in the future!" Carol confirmed.

"You're going to be a pilot?" John didn't know that before, he only knew that Carol was going to join the army.

"Well, I have passed the physical examination. I like the sky, I want to fly in the sky!" Carol said.

"Have you decided to co-write it first and then publish it?" John joked.

"Haha," Carol laughed dryly and murmured in a low voice, "Aren't I afraid of your objections?"

"Are our objections valid?" John asked rhetorically.

"Dad, you are the best father, I love you." Carol felt like changing the subject. She was already very skilled in this aspect under John's words and deeds.

"You~" John sighed, "You have been stubborn since you were a child."

"Do you like the sky?" Joe thought to himself, "I'll take you to see it then."

Anyway, he doesn't intend to hide his abilities in front of his family. He already has the ability to protect himself and can be honest with his family.
