Swallowed Star: Drawing Talents

#29 - Return to supply base

Inside the abandoned, unfinished building.

“Roar, roar, roar~~~”

Dozens of massive, horned boars charged wildly as if stimulated, their roars echoing through the floors.

Dust billowed from the ground, creating a hazy gray, and cracked plaster peeled off the old walls in chunks.

The horned boar herd was imposing, but it was useless. The immense difference in size gave Yang Wu the flexible space to display his agility.

With perfect-level footwork and exquisite marksmanship, each of Yang Wu's attacks accurately sliced across the horned boars' necks.

In just a moment, several horned boars fell. The gray floor was littered with the corpses of monsters.

Since being taught a lesson yesterday, Yang Wu had become more low-key.

He focused more on lone wolf monsters, striking swiftly and accurately when he did attack.

He dissected their corpses as quickly as possible, collecting valuable monster materials.

Then, he quickly left the scene.

Besides that, even if he suddenly felt like charging into a horde, he only targeted those led by intermediate-level beast generals.

These small hordes usually consisted of one intermediate-level beast general, leading a few primary beast generals and dozens of soldier-level monsters.

Only these were favored by Yang Wu.

After all, one should always pick the softest persimmon.

“Puff!”

Moments later, Yang Wu effortlessly slaughtered the small boar herd. He stood above the beast horde leader, an intermediate-level beast general horned boar.

With a swipe of his spear, a massive head flew high into the air.

Honestly speaking.

Yang Wu especially loved this feeling of crushing. Evenly matched fights were exciting, but a complete sweep was what he wanted most.

While cross-rank kills were thrilling, Yang Wu genuinely disliked them. Aside from psychopaths, who the hell enjoys getting abused every day!

Of course, if it was a cross-rank one-shot kill, Yang Wu would enjoy it, like Luo Feng in the original story, rampaging through the extraterritorial battlefield, slaughtering undying beings when he was at the sector lord level.

That, Yang Wu quite liked.

“Still too slow!”

He cut off the horned boar's horn and put it in his backpack. As for the other soldier-level horned boars, he was too lazy to loot them.

If he had better choices, he wouldn't bother hunting these horned boars. They were cheap and took up space, a complete waste.

But there was nothing he could do. Who told those pig and dog-like monsters to have such strong reproductive capabilities? Most of the monsters in the city were these types.

Yesterday's harvest was plentiful, almost like a successful opening day.

Not to mention the intermediate-level beast general black-haired mastiff, the advanced beast general-level hunter silver moon dire wolf could fetch a price comparable to ordinary elementary lord-level monsters.

Today's luck wasn't so good.

As night approached, he had only encountered one intermediate-level beast general bloodthirsty tank, one advanced beast general-level tiger mastiff, and the intermediate-level beast general horned boar he just killed.

Although not as good as the first day, it was still a small gain.

Yang Wu finished collecting the monster materials and quickly left the abandoned commercial building. The sound of the battle must have attracted other monsters.

He didn't want any unnecessary complications.

Sure enough, shortly after Yang Wu left, a group of tusked monsters rushed into the unfinished building, drawn by the scent of blood.

“Crunch… Crunch…”

Monsters didn't care if they were the same species. In their eyes, anything could become food.

Soon, the corpses of the horned boars were eaten clean.

A complete and utter death!

August 8th, this was Yang Wu's third day in the wilderness. Although the previous two days had been bountiful, he hadn't gained anything today, a wasted effort.

Yang Wu wasn't discouraged. After all, even anglers using fishing nets would sometimes come up empty.

August 9th, the fourth day in the wilderness, finally brought another great harvest, almost making Yang Wu grin from ear to ear.

Advanced beast general-level mighty demon ape, intermediate beast general-level bloodthirsty tank, advanced beast general-level ironclad wild bull, intermediate beast general-level tiger cat.

On the evening of the fourth day, just as the sun was setting behind the western hills, Yang Wu shouldered his pack and reluctantly embarked on his journey back to the martial artist supply base.

He ran out of water!

His high-energy food was almost gone!

Although the martial artist's backpack wasn't completely full, it was practically so. Five intermediate beast general-level monsters, three advanced beast general-level monsters, and one silver moon dire wolf close to the lord level.

Important materials from a primary beast general-level monster could generally be sold for 5 million to 15 million.

Important materials from an intermediate beast general-level monster could generally be sold for 10 million to over 100 million.

Important materials from an advanced beast general-level monster could generally be sold for 50 million to around 600-700 million.

Of course, there were occasional exceptions.

Some extremely special monsters, or some that were close to the lord level despite being advanced beast generals, would naturally have higher prices, like the hunter silver moon dire wolf.

However, most monster materials were within the above price range.

All in all, Yang Wu's trip to the wilderness would earn him approximately 2 billion Chinese dollars.

He could ride his bike when he came, but he had to rely on his own two feet to return.

There was no other way, the pack was so big!

Riding a motorcycle wouldn't be as steady as walking.

Yang Wu quietly left City 023, and quickly advanced towards the martial artist supply base along the dilapidated highway.

In fact, with the physical fitness of a warrior-level martial artist, their running speed in the wilderness was not necessarily slower than a motorcycle.

Moreover, at full speed, even a motorcycle would have to give way.

However, no martial artist would be so foolish.

The supplies that can be carried to the wilderness each time are limited, and the wilderness is extremely dangerous, requiring sufficient physical strength to cope with possible dangers.

For the sake of life safety and maximization of benefits, naturally everyone chooses to walk.

The next day, at dawn.

Military garrison, martial artist supply base.

After several hours of walking, Yang Wu finally arrived at the martial artist supply base.

Carrying a large backpack full of goods, he walked straight into the supply base under the surprised gazes of the staff.

Little did he know that his safe return had caused a lot of discussion throughout the supply base.

“I'll go, it's him!”

“This guy didn't die, he actually came back alive from the wilderness?”

“Who is he?”

Some martial artists asked curiously, they had just returned from the wilderness and did not know about Yang Wu's deeds.

In fact, Yang Wu didn't know how much of an impact his ride into the wilderness had on the martial artists at the supply base.

Madman!!!

That's right, in their eyes, Yang Wu's behavior was a complete madman.

The loud sound of the motorcycle would inevitably attract a large number of monsters, was he not afraid of dying fast enough?

No one was optimistic about him.

But now, he had returned unscathed!
