The Admiral of Hogwarts
#110 - Memorials and Letters
After the ship girls were summoned, Hugo didn't return directly to his hotel. Instead, he went with them to the Arizona Memorial, which was already closed for the night. Then, the ship girls, dressed in military uniforms, solemnly laid their hand-woven wreaths at the memorial, in front of the monument engraved with the names of the fallen in black lettering.
“Hopefully, the staff won't think our wreaths are some kind of paranormal event tomorrow,” Enterprise said, looking at the wreath with their names on it. “Of course, I can understand if they move the wreath. For us, we're just commemorating our fallen comrades, and there's no need to cause trouble for others because of it.”
After the memorial event, Hugo said goodbye to Tennessee and the others at the place where he had parked earlier. The ship girls all had the straightforward and efficient manner of soldiers, so Tennessee said that they would buy tickets to return to Los Angeles as soon as possible, in order to start the planned work as soon as possible.
“Actually, you don't have to rush so much,” Hugo said, looking at Nevada and the others. “I think you can rest here for a couple of days before returning to the mainland. Really, you don't need to rush so much in terms of time. Building a force really doesn't need to be done in such a hurry.”
“But for us, the happiest thing is to realize your dream, Admiral,” Oklahoma said, smiling at Hugo. “Besides, for us, Oahu, Honolulu, and Pearl Harbor are indeed very beautiful. But we really don't want to stay in this place any longer.”
“Understood, then I wish you all the best.” After hearing Oklahoma's explanation, Hugo immediately realized that this beautiful tropical island in his eyes was a place of heartbreak for these ship girls. Therefore, it was completely understandable that they didn't want to stay here. So, he embraced and said goodbye to the ship girls one by one, and then left with Enterprise in the car.
“Where are you planning to travel tomorrow?” Enterprise asked Hugo on the way back to the hotel. “I've spent a long time in Hawaii, so I should know this place very well. If you want to know where the fun places are, you can ask me directly.”
“For the first few days, we'll visit some of the important attractions on the island,” Hugo said, thinking about his father's itinerary. “Then, for the rest of the time, we'll find a family inn to stay in until the end of the trip and relax. Of course, at that time, there should be enough time to go out with you.”
Compared to the kind of tourism he had encountered in his previous life, where people rushed through various attractions to take photos and check in, perhaps because of different cultures, European and American travel was more popular with staying in one place for a while. Therefore, apart from visiting certain tourist spots at the beginning, the Granger family spent most of their time on this simple leisure.
“That's good, I'll take you to see some of the more fun places on the island,” Enterprise said, snapping her fingers. “And you know, yesterday I returned that wallet, and then I found some very interesting things with the owner who lost the wallet. I can take you and your sister to see it then.”
Obviously, Enterprise was planning to make that matter a surprise for her admiral. Therefore, Hugo asked her for a long time on the road, but couldn't get her to say what this so-called interesting thing was. But it should be related to the magical world here in America.
In the next few days, the Granger family visited several famous attractions on the island of Hawaii. After they finished their five-day tour and returned to Oahu again, they came to an apartment in Honolulu specifically for tourists and began to enjoy the leisurely time for the remaining half month.
On the morning of the second day after they moved into the tourist apartment, after breakfast, a seagull appeared on their balcony. And when Hugo and Hermione came to the balcony, the seagull not only didn't run away, but also stretched out one of its feet to Hugo and them. At this time, they realized that there was a very small metal box on the seagull's foot.
“It's not time for the school to send us letters yet.” After Hugo opened the small box, which had obviously been cast with a space expansion charm, several parchment letters jumped out of the box. But soon, Hugo figured out where they came from from the words on the envelopes.
“Ha, it seems that the postcards we sent to our friends in New York before have arrived, and here are their replies.” Hugo said to Hermione while looking at the envelopes in his hand, “This is Qiu's, this is Penelope's, this is Veneto's, this is Firefly's, even Ron sent us a letter.”
“It seems that everyone is having a good vacation, and their progress on their homework is about the same as ours.” As a girl whose talent can only be considered relatively good, but who is extremely serious and hardworking in her studies. After receiving letters from her friends, Hermione went to see how everyone's homework was doing as soon as possible.
“Please, it's a vacation now.” Hugo shook his head helplessly and said, “I know doing homework and studying are important, but there's really no need to remind me of this all the time—by the way, have you noticed that these letters seem to be a little less than we expected.”
“That's true.” After flipping through all the letters in her hand, Hermione turned to look at Hugo and said, “Why isn't there a letter from Harry here? If I remember correctly, we clearly mailed Harry a postcard before, he shouldn't not reply to us. Everyone clearly said on the train before that they would contact each other during the summer vacation.”
“Maybe something is delaying him over there.” Hugo said, of course, he knew that this should be Dobby's doing. It seems that the influence of what he did last semester was not as great as he thought, so Old Malfoy will probably still use Voldemort's Horcrux to cause trouble as in the original text.
“I hope he can solve the problems he encounters as soon as possible.” After hearing Hugo say this, Hermione didn't think much about it. After all, it's normal for people to forget to reply to their friends when they have urgent matters. “After all, Mom and Dad have agreed that we can invite him to come to our house for a short stay during the holidays.”
The Granger couple are very supportive of their children making some excellent friends at school. And for them, a child like Harry, who was born an orphan and has always been dependent on others, but has always maintained high morale and a kind heart, is indeed the most ideal friend for their children.
As for the fact that Harry's academic level is only average to above average and he is a bit unspecialized. The Granger couple don't think this is a serious problem. Unlike parents in the East, although European and American parents also care about academics, they don't put this matter in the supreme position.
At least in their opinion, Harry being able to obtain a position similar to a quarterback in a team ball sport that is not the most popular in the world is already enough to illustrate his excellence.
Just as Hugo and Hermione were starting to look at their friends' letters one by one, there was a sudden knock on the door. When Hugo ran to the door and opened it, he found Enterprise standing at the door wearing a trench coat at this time.
